[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 399902] Re: xinput and synclient forget user settings on resume

2013-02-03 Thread Per Wahlström
12.04, I think I have a related problem but with a USB mouse.

If you have a script like "20_custom-ehci_hcd" in any of the sleep.d
dirs, this may be the culprit here, since it unbinds hcd drivers upon
sleep.

"xinput" settings are lost on resume, and a 000-script in sleep.d fails
because the device is not seen yet.

To summarize:
Before suspend, 'xinput list' shows my USB mouse and keyboard devices.
On resume, while executing sleep.d scripts, the USB devices is missing from
'xinput list', even after 20_custom-ehci_hcd script has re-bound them.
After resume has completed, 'xinput list' shows the USB devices.

So, X does not rediscover the rebound devices until after the sleep.d
scripts have run.

2013-02-03 Thread Mike Heald
It's similar, but not a dupe. That bug is when the user logs in. This
bug happens before I log in. It's as soon as lightdm starts, so I can't
see anything to log in, therefore it couldn't be my session settings as
the other bug indicates.

I'm not sure how you managed to hit a fault there, but note this

trigger.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup

That's good news. I still am out of luck installing the Xorg-edgers
version in precise with our Intel 82845G machines. The GLXBadContext
error is still present. (comment #284, #285)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 999191] Re: X crashes with gnome-session: Fatal IO error 11

2013-02-03 Thread G.C. Hassink
I tried to do that in the mean time (using Alt F2), but no web browser
in terminal, so couldn't finish it, and haven't been able to locate the
report yet. Anyhow, I googled a little further and learned that
compizconfig settings manager is a notorious culprit. So I did a compiz
revert to standard followed by a unity --reset and uninstall of CCSM.
And now it seems stable for quit some days

Sorry if this is not the appropriate spot to put this comment, but
hopefully it will be of use to someone else.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1100068] Re: ./bin/compiz (opengl) - Error: FBO is incomplete: GL::FRAMEBUFFER_UNSUPPORTED (0x8cdd)

2013-02-03 Thread Emmanuel Garcia
Seems like I'm affected by the same bug with ubuntu 12.10 compiz 0.9.8.6 (same
error messages).
Turning off texture compression does not help as it was already turned off.
After unity --reset-icons the bug does not reappear for the whole session.
What other relevant information can I provide?
Can apport-collect ne used only by the reporter of the bug?
Should I file a duplicate of this bug to use apport-collect?

Unfortunately with two patches applied, using `xrandr` to enable the
external screen seems to lock up the system. I have to find more time to
look into this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1114370] [NEW] External Monitor Problems: System Freezes when plugging, unplugging, or turning off LG 55LE5400 TV

2013-02-03 Thread Bruce Pierson
Public bug reported:

The system crashes whenever breaking the connection between the
television and computer outputs. It's not a broad problem because the
EDID for dell computer monitors is correct and they work just fine;
however, my 24" samsung computer monitor and and LG HDMI TV cause the
same problem. I've tried using a few bash scripts that modify the
monitor settings using xrandr, but it must be an infinite loop issue in
xorg that isn't properly handling the monitor switch.

I'm using a SONY VAIO FW250J (this is a similar bug to a few others
already listed). The graphics driver should be supported by the open
source intel graphics drivers (chipset GM45, GMA 4500 MHD). I originally
thought it was a graphics driver issue, but transitioned to thining it
was a hardware compatibility issue after tooling forward and backwards
with the xserver-xorg-video-intel graphcs. I can't rule out a
compatibilty issue mostly because it's a SONY laptop (they like to do
things differently). I'll probably dive into xorg intel graphics source
code to poke around, but doubt I'll uncover the issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1112871] Re: [clarkdale] mp4 and flv video -> GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x02000000

2013-02-03 Thread Fabio Marconi
** Description changed:

  Dup of bug 946899 ?

-
  Hallo
- Just try to watch an mp4 video in totem, then disks start spinning, unity
freezed, mouse working, switched to tty to see what happens, noted that it was
wasting resource to searching for a new version (of what?), then disk spin go
down, came back to UI and apport popup this.

I think this was fixed at some point of time but I forgot to close this
bug. Even if it wasn't fixed I don't have access to the hardware anyway.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1114520] [NEW] Graphical Wine applications fail to load

2013-02-03 Thread Ken Sharp
Public bug reported:

Graphical applications that run under Wine, such as the SlingPlayer 1.5 will
fail to load with the fglrx package installed.
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=11492

Using fglrx-updates used to allow everything to run correctly, and with
a significant improvement in native graphics quality and speed. This is
now blocked by Bug #1058040 and Bug #1113331.

Although these two .debs appear to be the same, there is something
fundamentally different.

Works:
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/f/fglrx-installer-updates/fglrx-updates_8.960-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
Fails:
http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/restricted/f/fglrx-installer/fglrx_8.960-0ubuntu1.1_amd64.deb

$ glxinfo
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 139 (ATIFGLEXTENSION)
Minor opcode of failed request: 66 ()
Serial number of failed request: 242
Current serial number in output stream: 242

This works fine with the "old" fglrx-update package.

Workaround is to install this "old" fglrx-update package manually and
lock the version.

2013-02-03 Thread melchiaros
May be this has the same causes as the reports of Fabio Marconi

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/1113520

and

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
intel/+bug/1112871

The GPU generation differers.

Here it is a arandale, he has a clarkdale.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-02-03 Thread whelderwheels613
I have a T430 running 12.10 and can confirm that the key is not working.

xev outputs nothing when the key is pressed/released.
acpi_listen outputs:
ibm/hotkey HKEY 0080 101b
input-events 5 outputs :

EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 26
EV_KEY KEY_MICMUTE (0xf8) pressed
EV_SYN code=0 value=0
EV_MSC MSC_SCAN 26
EV_KEY KEY_MICMUTE (0xf8) released
EV_SYN code=0 value=0

Not quite sure what course of action I should take, but I found this
page (http://askubuntu.com/questions/125367/enabling-mic-mute-button-
and-light-on-lenovo-thinkpads), and it seems like a very similar
solution to that of Chris Van Hoof's.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 830099] Re: Mouse stopped moving - touchpad still responds

2013-02-03 Thread kroq-gar78
Ivan, I think I remember trying the key combo on my netbook and laptop
and neither worked, so I don't this it's related to grabbing.

Well, good news (I think). On my Toshiba Satellite L655, I pulled up
"/var/log/Xorg.0.log", and I seem to have found some source of the error
for this. Here are the last few lines of the file:

[343696.707] BUG: triggered 'if (priv->num_active_touches > priv->num_slots)'

To me, it looks like a stacktrace dump, and it clearly says "BUG" at the
top, referring to the file src/synaptics.c, somewhere in Xorg. Frankly,
I have no idea how to interpret the condition in the "if" statement.

So, I think this is clearly a bug in Xorg, but I don't really know how
to fix this. :(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2013-02-03 Thread Frederic Van Espen
For me everything freezes completely. If it freezes while listening to
music, it starts skipping as if you're listening to a scratched cd :-)

I'm on debian wheezy. To temporarily work around this issue, I use the
3.6.0 kernel from experimental.

I'm running on a Dell Latitude E6530, with a core i5 cpu and an nvidia
NVS5200 which I disable with vgaswitcheroo. The same freeze happens when
I don't disable it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433142] Re: xf86-video-geode: 800x480 and 1024x600 Panel support is broken

2013-02-03 Thread Anewangelfades
Hi martin,
800x480 and 1024x600 work perfectly with your 2.11.14 and the xorg.conf in the
README file.
The other problems are that if i press Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or F2, F3, etc...) nothing
happens, no cli, just a black screen. And also if I attach a tft monitor with
the external vga port, I can't change the resolution and the internal monitor
of the ecafe doesn't turn off.

Thaks a lot,

Davide

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-02-03 Thread whelderwheels613
Edit:

As I have just discovered, the acpi scripts do not appear to be working
in 12.10 x64 on a lenovo t430. Using both the method described in the
link I posted and Chris Van Hoof's, I can't get the acpi events system
to execute the micmute.sh script. I followed both guides _exactly_. I
can manually invoke the script, but that defeats the purpose of having
the button. This is a simple script I created as a workaround for this
issue:

#!/bin/bash
while true
do
event="`acpi_listen -c 1`"
if [[ $event == "ibm/hotkey HKEY 0080 101b" ]]
then
bash /etc/acpi/micmute.sh
fi
done

To use it, set it to be executable and add the path to the script in
/etc/rc.local
