[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1125413] Re: LTS xserver backport packages want to remove xorg xserver
The main problem for me is that lots of packages depend on some packages that need to be removed for the upgrade. There the upgrade would delete wine, acroread, steam, nvidia-current, etc. lots of essential (for me at least) packages. I believe that it is due to some wrong dependencies, since eg. acroread and wine should work with newer xserver as well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-lts-quantal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1125413 Title: LTS xserver backport packages want to remove xorg xserver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-lts-quantal/+bug/1125413/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1058040] Re: fglrx-installer not working with AMD Radeon/Mobility Radeon HD 2000-4000 cards in Quantal
Alberto Milone, thank you for addressing this bug report. I agree that due to licensing restrictions, the Ubuntu project is legally forced to not fix AMD's driver for them. As well, from my terse interactions with their customer service department, they are not concerned with their customer's products being broken at a driver level, unless it's new products. However, should we let this cause angst among the Ubuntu Community to see if we may WORKAROUND their bug in a license permissive way, on an an-hoc, special exception basis? Granted this is wishful thinking, and more than easier said then done. However, if someone comes up with something, it would be cool. if not, thanks for checking in anyways, and trying to take care of us. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1058040 Title: fglrx-installer not working with AMD Radeon/Mobility Radeon HD 2000-4000 cards in Quantal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1058040/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
@rsoika, I don't think it is ivy bridge related because my hardware is not ivy bridge. I'm using older Core2Duo cpu and Geforce 7600GT with older intel chipset. I forgot what it's called but definitely not sandy or ivy bridge. It is a legacy time tested hardware that shouldn't have had bugs problems (in theory). This bug is so random it's really hard to pinpoint the problem. The last three days it happened several times a day. But today, actually from last night, I haven't had any freeze at all, almost 24 hours. This time, I've played all kind of video music and streaming videos such as youtube with no freeze which usually caused to freeze almost definitely. But not today, I don't know why. I didn't do any update at all. Must be a very very difficult bug to track I think. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1125413] Re: LTS xserver backport packages want to remove xorg xserver
Sorry i forgot to mention in comment #2 that i first tried to update the amd64 variant of the xorg-server from kubuntu-precise 12.04.1 to the quantal backport before (update of quantal-kernel was no problem). But it resulted in a DEFECTIVE xserver installation with only black screen after reboot and no chance to do do anything. Switching to console with strg-alt-F1 was not possible. The system installation was nearly fresh and only 1 or 2 weeks old and i had latest amd release drivers installed for a radeon hd 7750. Sadly i didn´t manage to repair this, so i made fresh install from ubuntu 12.04.2 and then added kubuntu-desktop with the issues in comment #2.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755841]
(In reply to comment #113) vsync seems to be fully working now on SNB/IVB with 2.21 and kernel 3.8, so the remaining issue is to get TearFree solid and performant for all use cases. Thanks for working on this. I have upgraded to Linux 3.8-rc7 and xf86-video-intel 2.21.2 on my ThinkPad X200 (Intel GM45) and on my workstation (Sandy Bridge GT2). On my X200, I can use the TearFree option without any side-effects. If I enable it on my workstation though, the result of terminal commands such as ls -hl or ps auxf often lags — the lines appear one after another, just like on a serial connection. Just wanted to let you know in case you were not aware of that yet. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1081108] Re: Xorg crash after clicking on workspace in inkscape
I experience the same problem if I disable the touchpad using Xinput using this script: #!/bin/sh for device in 'PS/2 Mouse' 'ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse' 'AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint'; do /usr/bin/xinput set-prop $device 'Device Enabled' 0 done It's then enough to launch Inkscape and click on the empty workspace to have X crash. The stacktrace in Xorg log is the same (even the relative address offsets are identical). If I disable the touchpad then reenable it using this script, I can use Inkscape safely: #!/bin/sh for device in 'PS/2 Mouse' 'ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse' 'AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint'; do /usr/bin/xinput set-prop $device 'Device Enabled' 1 done -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081108 Title: Xorg crash after clicking on workspace in inkscape To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1081108/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
