[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184085] [NEW] Xorg server crashes when drawing dashed circles
Public bug reported: To reproduce: install xfig (sudo apt-get install xfig) open xfig --- then try to draw a circle with dashed line (choose the circle, select the dash line in the row below the main screen, click in the canvas to draw). The Xorg ser4ver crashes and You are back to login. The first time it happened apport created a report, but then did not open the browser to submit it --- so I am sending this by hand; will attach the report if I can (it's 12M compressed). I am attaching a version without core dump, ask me if you need the full one. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1054257] Re: [fglrx] Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0
Found a fix for my problem and it now working. Overview of my problem: Ubuntu 12.10 + NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GS Unity do not start Ubuntu 12.10 + Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0 What I did to solve this issue: re-installed the nvidia drivers following this tutorial: http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ubuntu-quetzal-nvidia.html sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-source uname-r sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` sudo apt-get install nvidia-current sudo /sbin/lsmod | grep nvidia no nvidia found, so: sudo depmod -a sudo modprobe nvidia_current sudo /sbin/lsmod | grep nvidia now it is ok, with count 0 sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart unity is restored! yay! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184160] Re: multitouch - not all 3 finger actions working
I have no idea if this is related, but I also do not see settings such as Horizontal Scroll in the MouseTouchpad settings window, and the option Disable Touchpad While Typing, though displayed and selected, does not work at all. This makes typing and development very difficult - as my palm brushes the touchpad, and the mouse cursor jumps unpredictably, causing me big problems when editing text. Please let me know if I need to log a separate bug report for this. Screenshot attached. ** Attachment added: no horizontal scroll option, disable touchpad option doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1184160/+attachment/3686601/+files/touchpadSettingsMissing.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184160 Title: multitouch - not all 3 finger actions working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1184160/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1111884] Re: nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT
Workaround options for hybrid video systems: Option 1. In BIOS switch to use only embedded video card (for example UMA only for Lenovo Ideapad Z580A). Option 2. In BIOS use Optimus video and blacklist nouveau: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf Add a line to the end of file: blacklist nouveau Save, close file and restart. High: High impact on small proportion of users (i.e. xfig users on Intel) - but I guess ther eis a chance that it could be a cause of other X crashes as well. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184085 Title: Xorg server crashes when drawing dashed circles To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1184085/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 505995] Re: java crashed with signal 5 in _XError()
The distribution is EOL (end of life) and the software version is also obsolete. Therefore I recommend to change this bug to WONT FIX now since this annot and won't be reproduced ever according to the original bug report description. I think in case this is still an issue someone will file a new bug with up-2-date information and debug information. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libx11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/505995 Title: java crashed with signal 5 in _XError() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libx11/+bug/505995/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184113] Re: xorg and onbord intel fails
It looks like you tried to install the nvidia driver directly (not a good idea). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1176566] Re: Problem with display on screen.
I see something similar. Everything starts well but after about an hour or so if I open the dash it is unreadable with corrupted graphics. Then closing windows will sometimes leave images of themselves (some times upside down), windows corners can get corrupted as can window close icon. Recently upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04. System is 64 bit AMD, with a 8600GT Nvidia card, using Nouveau driver. Attempts to use Nvidia proprietary drivers result in a black screen after login in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176566 Title: Problem with display on screen.
