[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184085] [NEW] Xorg server crashes when drawing dashed circles

2013-05-25 Thread Romano Giannetti
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

install xfig (sudo apt-get install xfig)

open xfig --- then try to draw a circle with dashed line (choose the
circle, select the dash line in the row below the main screen, click in
the canvas to draw). The Xorg ser4ver crashes and You are back to login.

The first time it happened apport created a report, but then did not
open the browser to submit it --- so I am sending this by hand; will
attach the report if I can (it's 12M compressed). I am attaching a
version without core dump, ask me if you need the full one.

It could be related to bad rendering of filled area:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1177535
Or maybe a regression:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/553647

All the data in the attached file; nevertheless, this is a -intel
driver. Ubuntu 13.04 with gnome-shell.

Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1054257] Re: [fglrx] Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0

2013-05-25 Thread JoaoPinto
Found a fix for my problem and it now working.

Overview of my problem:
Ubuntu 12.10 + NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GS
Unity do not start Ubuntu 12.10 + Compiz (opengl) - Fatal:
glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0

What I did to solve this issue:
re-installed the nvidia drivers following this tutorial:
http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/ubuntu-quetzal-nvidia.html

   sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-source
   uname-r
   sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
   sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
   sudo /sbin/lsmod | grep nvidia
no nvidia found, so:
   sudo depmod -a
   sudo modprobe nvidia_current
   sudo /sbin/lsmod | grep nvidia
now it is ok, with count 0
   sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart

unity is restored! yay!

Hope this helps someone.

J

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184154] [NEW] After last Kernel Update (3.2.0-44) system hangs on startup

2013-05-25 Thread Juergen N
Public bug reported:

My system hangs when I startup. The login screen shows up, but when I
try to enter the password, after 1-3 chars the system hangs (keyboard
and mouse freeze, system does not respond to anything except reset).

I now started the system with the older 3.2.0-41 kernel and it works.

I also attach a dmesg-file from a previous startup. The only thing I
noticed myself are the odd NFSD-messages at the end, which I did not
find in the newer dmesg (with patch 41 kernel).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184160] [NEW] multitouch - not all 3 finger actions working

2013-05-25 Thread dg
Public bug reported:

As reported on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch, the following 3
gestures are not working (and they are the ones I find most useful):

3 finger pinch to maximize/restore windows
3 finger press and drag to move window
3 finger touch to show grab handles

The other 3 finger gestures appear to be working (although I don't
really want to use them).

I have followed instructions as on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection
and am attaching the appropriate files.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184160] Re: multitouch - not all 3 finger actions working

2013-05-25 Thread dg
I have no idea if this is related, but I also do not see settings such as
Horizontal Scroll in the MouseTouchpad settings window,
and the option Disable Touchpad While Typing, though displayed and selected,
does not work at all.
This makes typing and development very difficult - as my palm brushes the
touchpad, and the mouse cursor jumps unpredictably, causing me big problems
when editing text.

Please let me know if I need to log a separate bug report for this.
Screenshot attached.

** Attachment added: no horizontal scroll option, disable touchpad option
doesn't work

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1111884] Re: nouveau fails at suspend/resume - PAGE_NOT_PRESENT

2013-05-25 Thread Viktor Mileikovskyi
Workaround options for hybrid video systems:

Option 1. In BIOS switch to use only embedded video card (for example
UMA only for Lenovo Ideapad Z580A).

Option 2. In BIOS use Optimus video and blacklist nouveau:

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

Add a line to the end of file:

blacklist nouveau

Save, close file and restart. (sudo rmmod nouveau does not helpful
becaude nouveau is in use). Now if required optimus graphic You can run
(and disable suspend until next reboot because rmmod does not work):

sudo modprobe nouveau

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1152165]

2013-05-25 Thread Ross Lagerwall
On the same machine, I tried running SuperTuxKart on Arch Linux with
Linux kernel 3.10-rc2, mesa 9.1.2 and Intel drivers 2.21.6.

I seemed to get the same hang, even though 3.10-rc2 contains the above-
mentioned commit. I will attach the error state and relevant dmesg log.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184154] Re: After last Kernel Update (3.2.0-44) system hangs on startup

2013-05-25 Thread Dave Gilbert
On the basis that you say it's only this kernel that does it I've changed the
package to the kernel package.
You say it doesn't respond to anything; how about:
   * Does it ping from another machine on your network (if you have one)
   * Does ctrl-alt-f1 go to a text console (ctrl-alt-f7 or f8 to get back)

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184085] Re: Xorg server crashes when drawing dashed circles

2013-05-25 Thread Dave Gilbert
Can you try an

apport-collect 1184085

after triggering it? In the hope it will include a full set of info.

(I tried triggering this on my Arch box running KDE on Intel and it
doesn't trigger, so it's not as general as that)

2013-05-25 Thread Dave Gilbert
High: High impact on small proportion of users (i.e. xfig users on Intel) -
but I guess ther eis a chance that it could be a cause of other X crashes as
well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 505995] Re: java crashed with signal 5 in _XError()

2013-05-25 Thread A. Denton
The distribution is EOL (end of life) and the software version is also
obsolete. Therefore I recommend to change this bug to WONT FIX now since
this annot and won't be reproduced ever according to the original bug
report description. I think in case this is still an issue someone will
file a new bug with up-2-date information and debug information.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1184113] Re: xorg and onbord intel fails

2013-05-25 Thread Daniel Letzeisen
It looks like you tried to install the nvidia driver directly (not a good
idea). You should remove it and then:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri
xserver-xorg-core
sudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1176566] Re: Problem with display on screen.

2013-05-25 Thread PaulGittings
I see something similar. Everything starts well but after about an hour
or so if I open the dash it is unreadable with corrupted graphics. Then
closing windows will sometimes leave images of themselves (some times
upside down), windows corners can get corrupted as can window close
icon.

Recently upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04.
System is 64 bit AMD, with a 8600GT Nvidia card, using Nouveau driver. Attempts
to use Nvidia proprietary drivers result in a black screen after login in.
