[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1208081] Re: xrandr scale factor smaller than 1 has same effect as 1
** Description changed: $ubuntu-bug xrandr -> package xrandr does not exist hmm.. when I do this: xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 0.8x0.8 the screen is shown 'zoomed in' initially but when the mouse hits the side of the screen (and I expect it to pan), the screen zooms out again (probably to 'scale 1) + Just discovered one more thing: if the mouse arrow is placed near the + top or left side of the screen when trying to zoom, the screen is shown + zoomed initially, and the scale factor goes back to 1 when the arrow + hits an edge. But if the arrow is near the bottom or right edge of the + screen when trying to zoom, the scale factor stays one when trying to + zoom. (thoug the screen is shown garbled near the edge then) + The output of xrandr before and after this is the same. .. - jos@hpux:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 13.04 Release:13.04 - jos@hpux:~$ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: - Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 - Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 - Version table: - *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 0 - 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status + Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 + Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 + Version table: + *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 0 + 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xrandr in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208081 Title: xrandr scale factor smaller than 1 has same effect as 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrandr/+bug/1208081/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

For the special case mentioned (no controlling terminal), this is not specific to xterm, and is unlikely to be a bug in the terminal emulator. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1207988] [NEW] Panel display corruption during install
Public bug reported: I am performing some of todays daily install tests see: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/270/builds ..and have noticed that when booting the system and hitting the initial install screen, there is a multiple panel corruption running along the top of the screen (see screenshot). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1207971] [NEW] xterm default is to fail to use available UTF-8 fonts
Public bug reported: When "xterm" is started in its default out-of-the-box condition, i.e. without any command-line, .Xresources, or .[a-Z]*rc options, it should be able to display text in any of the available UTF-8 fonts, regardless of locale. Install a range of truetype CJK and non-truetype CJK fonts and start gnome-terminal in a normal Ubuntu 13.04 Unity session. At the command- line, try viewing some foreign text in UTF-8, $ curl http://www.nhk.or.jp/ | lynx -dump -stdin Notice how all of the characters are displayed by gnome-terminal. It should all work ok. If not, install more CJK fonts. Start xterm at the command-line inside the gnome-terminal to ensure xterm is given the identical environment variables as gnome-terminal, $ xterm& At the command-line in the xterm, try viewing some foreign text in UTF-8, $ curl http://www.nhk.or.jp/ | lynx -dump -stdin What happens is that xterm displays the foreign UTF-8 text with little empty squares representing missing UTF-8 characters. ** Affects: xterm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: saucy ** Tags added: saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xterm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207971 Title: xterm default is to fail to use available UTF-8 fonts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xterm/+bug/1207971/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1137817] Re: [ivb] System freeze after high memory usage
I am currently working with 3.11.0-031100rc1-generic. This kernel freezes some times but is more stable than the other versions. Especially 3.11-rc-2 and 3.11.rc3 are extremely worst. I got freezes with these kernels several times a day. 3.11.0-031100rc1 seems to work stable for 1-2 days, what for me is a step forward.
