[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1208207] Re: driver crash
The originally reported [TTM] Failed to expire sync object before buffer eviction smell like a kernel issue too, and probably one that's fixed in upstream kernel. They don't show up when I boot into today's kernel.org's 3.11.0-rc7 (commit a8787645e14ce), and are probably fixed by recent drm/noveau changes since 3.11.0-rc6 My original issue seems to have gone away when I realised that box was using lightdm, not gdm, and lightdm is no longer supported. If I see problems when reverting to ubuntu standard kernel, while keeping gdb, I'll re-raise against kernel. So this is just Fabio's issue -- apologies for conflating the two when failed to expire sync seen -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208207 Title: driver crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1208207/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219708] [NEW] Asus synaptics/elantech touchpad not detected during or after fresh install
Public bug reported: Bug occurred during a fresh install of Ubuntu-13.04. Attempted to fix by attempting another fresh install as well as reverting to the previous 12.04 version and switching interfaces such as installing Kubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad
I can confirm that this is an issue on the MacBook Air 4,2 Mid 2011. Also seems to be an issue with any trackpad that supports multitouch and has no click buttons, but a click pad. This is the reason I still don't use ubuntu on my Mac. Please take this into consideration and add thumb support and multitouch clickpad support. Are you kidding? :) The temperatures you've mentioned will not kill your laptop. OK, Ilia. Where do yo recommend to post such report about power management not supported issues? There is not much of a benefit in (re-)posting power management does not work, most people are aware about this and working on it one way or the other. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219753] [NEW] Dell XPS 12 2013 Haswell synaptics trackpad not recognized anymore in Ubuntu kernel 3.10 and 3.11rc
Public bug reported: First I installed stock Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail with kernel 3.8. Trackpad was functioning correctly (e.g. two-finger scrolling worked) and was recognized as Synaptics device in /proc/bus/input/devices. Due to very new Intel wireless 7260 hardware that did not work in kernel 3.8, I had to upgrade my kernel to latest 3.11rc. With this kernel my Synaptics trackpad is no longer recognized as Synaptics and works as default evdev pointer (mouse) device, without all the trackpad features. I dist-upgraded to 13.10 Saucy Salamander with kernel 3.10 to see if it may have been fixed there. But unfortunately the trackpad regression is also there. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 995294] Re: Session end (back to login screen) on apport unhandled exception
Hi there! So, I'm having a hard time with the same bug as well. I've tried several linux versions with no success. Here's the list: - Mint 10, 12, 13 (amd64); - Ubuntu 10.04 , 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 (x86 amd64), 12.10; - Kubuntu 12.04 (x86 amd64); - Lubuntu 12.04 (x86 amd64) - this particular one crashes while loading systems files after a fresh install. It keeps logging me out randomly even with the open source drivers. Installing legacy drivers from AMD's doesn't help. Here's my desktop's specs: AMD Athlon II x4 3.0Ghz | 4GB-RAM | Sapphire ATi HD4830 512MB | 3 Maxtor HDD 40, 80 and 160GB. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1218224] Re: VGA Output not activated
OK, so attached is the result of a two-reboot cycle. Initially (first reboot) I didn't have the monitor attached at all. Then I ran your diagnostic scripts (output in post-reboot-unattached). Then I attached the monitor. Then I ran your diagnostic scripts (output in post-reboot-attached- after). Throughout this process, no signal was received by the monitor, even though the Gnome randr GUI detects the correct manufacturer, shows that the monitor is on, and indicates that it is using the correct resolution. I finally rebooted the laptop WITH THE MONITOR ATTACHED DURING the reboot and that was the only way it successfully started sending a signal. I then ran the diagnostic scripts for a third time (output in post- reboot-attached-during). I have not bothered to work with a suspend/resume condition, as it happens whenever the monitor is not attached on boot anyway, whether or not I suspend/resume. ** Attachment added: Script I ran, and series of three conditions in separate directories. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1218224/+attachment/3799362/+files/xrandr_debug.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218224 Title: VGA Output not activated To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1218224/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219908] [NEW] All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...
Public bug reported: The official Nvidia long-lived-branch stable driver is now 319.49. That means that the recommended official driver is 319.49 and should be used by all Nvidia users except those using old legacy devices. There are important fixes that are in this driver and the previous 319.17 that affect Chromium browser users especially: + Fixed a memory leak that occurred when destroying a GLX window but not its associated X window. These can crash machines using Nvidia GPU's according to a Chromium-bug http://crbug.com/145600 NVIDIA linux drivers are unstable when using multiple Open GL contexts and with low memory.: and if check `about:gpu` you will see this is a major reason most if not all Nvidia GPU's are currently blacklisted. Also, when using Windows 7 I am liberty to install any driver version I want, keeping my machine up to date with the latest official Nvidia fixes. With Ubuntu I'm stuck with older drivers that affect performance and contain old bugs that have already been fixed. This leads to a lower quality experience than with Windows. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219908] Re: All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...
First of all, there is no 'nvidia-updates' package and never will. We use nvidia-VER names now, as you know, also 'nvidia-current' is just a transitional package in saucy (new versions backported to precise might still use old names, dunno). Also, people do tend to take vacation from time to time, so ranting because a driver released less than two weeks ago is not on the devel series yet is just taking it a bit too far. You'd better have what it takes to wait for an additional two weeks or so before 319.49 is in saucy, btw. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219908 Title: All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1219908] Re: All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases...
+Timo, my tone was one of excitement and not really a rant, so I apologize if I came off as sounding impatient and I can understand the long hours everyone here puts into this and I really do appreciate this and am very grateful. However, I'm looking at this from a customer expectations point of view and not a developer point of view. This applies specifically to sophisticated customers such as gamers, engineers/scientists/developers and power-users who are the most likely candidates to migrate from Windows to Ubuntu on the desktop. From the customer point of view - especially gamers and demanding power users - the driver release cadence is still way too slow and is a valid bug. Sophisticated users need to flexibility to extract the maximum performance and ensure maximum stability for their system especially for mission-critical applications. Whether we like it or not the industry standard that every customer expects is that set by Windows 7/8 and for those systems there are always fresh drivers available within days of release. Anything slower is perceived as being sub-standard. It's not a matter of who's right or who's wrong it's that we need to at least match or even better beat that release cadence. Ideally a Linux distribution should find a way to be ahead of a Windows release cadence. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219908 Title: All nvidia-current and nvidia-updates need repackaging to mirror official Nvidia releases... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1154153] Re: Nvidia module crash: GPU has fallen off the bus.
I have the same behavior -- ie. when I leave my computer at night the monitor eventually goes into suspend mode. Then in the morning I come in and touch the keyboard nothing happens. If I log in remotely I can see that X has died and I see the same fallen off the bus kernel messages. I put the suggested 'nvidia-smi -pm 1' into /etc/rc.local and verified that the persistent mode is enabled but I still have the same problem. One interesting note for me is that I recently attached a second monitor to my quad-gpu card, and I never had this problem before I added the second monitor. It's possible I had gotten an udpated package at about the same time, but I'm not sure. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1220015] [NEW] Trackpad does not click
Public bug reported: Trackpad on Lenovo IdeaPad P500 does not work properly. This problem was originally in my Ubuntu partition, but now my Windows 8 partition also has some noticeable issues with clicking (perhaps because of my debugging attempts). I did accidentally spill a small amount of water on the trackpad, but I dried it within a minute, so I cannot imagine that the bug is from that. This is not the first time I have had issues with the mouse, but they have never been so severe. Tap clicking works for the most part, but often fails. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1218815] Re: [radeon] Graphic glitches and screen corruption since the latest update
Interesting the workaround would not work, because it looks like bypass mode has the wrong pixel format. But I'm also glad bypass isn't broken too. Please double-check that the workaround really does not help. Also remember to reboot. Secondly, please try this (or something like it): 1. sudo apt-get install mir-demos 2. Reproduce the corruption 3. Switch to a VT that works (Ctrl+Alt+F1) or install openssh-server and ssh in. 4. sudo mir_demo_client_egltriangle 5. Switch back to VT 7: Ctrl+Alt+F7 Now, is the triangle visible without corruption? Can you take another photo? If all else fails, are you able to look in your /var/cache/apt/archives/ and find which package version introduced the bug, by installing slightly older versions? You can just: cd /var/cache/apt/archives/ sudo dpkg -i whatever deb files to try -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218815 Title: [radeon] Graphic glitches and screen corruption since the latest update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1218815/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
