[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1267742] Re: Screen artifacts appear after restart and cold boot
The fragments you can see after the greeter exits and the session starts is the root-pixmap, which is shown so that there's no flickering until (in Xubuntu's case) xfdesktop/xfwm4 starts. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1229591] [NEW] 8086:0116 [Dell Inspiron 14z (N411z)] Display brightness keys don't generate evdev events after saucy upgrade
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On raring (and precise) the display brightness keys (fn+f4 and fn+f5) on my Dell Inspiron 14z turned the brightness up and down. After a saucy upgrade this no longer happens (I don't see the popup brightness bubble either). The other, similar keys (volume adjustment, etc) still work fine. Changing the values in /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness works (temporarily - it gets reset after the screen lock kicks in) I tried following the instructions in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting but this appears to be out of date (it references /usr/share/doc/udev/README.keymap.txt which does not exist) Ubuntu kernel version bisect revealed: First bad Ubuntu kernel: 3.11.0-0.2 last good Ubuntu kernel: 3.10.0-6.17 The results of a commit bisect are pending. --- ApportVersion: 2.12.4-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: chris 2646 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2011-11-18 (675 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1269600] Re: Kernel Panic when using Magic Touchpad
Gerrit Addiks, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc8 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: latest-bios-b10 needs-upstream-testing regression- potential ** Description changed: - I am (normally) using an Apple Magic Touchpad instad of a mouse. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1268298] Re: Xubuntu 13.10 can not start X with Rage 128 graphic cards
On the one hand initial problem is gone - X starts ok now. On the other hand final picture is buggy - video-buffer seems to be corrupted and system is not really usable. I attach two screenshots of fresh Xubuntu 13.10 i386 desktop - one on Radeon (good picture), other on Rage 128 (corrupted one). I tested different video-cards (Rage 128 and Rage 128 Pro, 16 and 32 MB, all AGP) and three different motherboards (AMD on VIA and nVidia chipset and P4 on Intel chipset) - the same issue with all configurations. Effects (desktop composition) can be turned on or off - does not really matter. Even lightdm screen have corruptions. As for now I have plenty of such PCs working smoothly under Xubuntu 12.04 - have not tested 13.04 yet. ** Attachment added: Bad screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-r128/+bug/1268298/+attachment/3949783/+files/Screenshot-r128.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-r128 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1268298 Title: Xubuntu 13.10 can not start X with Rage 128 graphic cards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-r128/+bug/1268298/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1269260] Re: 8086:0166 [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] x hangs after standby
The 14.04 live-CD didn't show the same behaviour during my only one day of testing. Once it didn't wake up at all, so even switching to a console screen wasn't possible anymore, but the other times the system woke up normally. It also tried to switch back to kernel version 3.2.0.58 which also doesn't seem to be affected by this bug, though thi kernel shows different problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1269260 Title: 8086:0166 [Lenovo ThinkPad X230] x hangs after standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1269260/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hello, Until a solution is to be found, could 518c769d be reverted for now? Brad Marshall, this bug report is being closed due to your last comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- ati/+bug/1158590/comments/32 regarding you no longer have the hardware. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1193686] Re: Sticky keys doesn't react to mouse buttons
I cannot see how a BIOS update can be relevant. I probably didn't make it absolutely clear, but I saw this issue regress between 12.04 and 13.04 not only on this Dell XPS 13, but also on a Lenovo X410s, two entirely different laptops. I got a new workstation at the time, and decided on testing the new 13.04 on the old laptop before attempting to upgrade the 12.04 that the XPS shipped with. I find it highly unlikely that both should have the same bug in entirely different BIOS'es. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1193686 Title: Sticky keys doesn't react to mouse buttons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1193686/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1265065] Re: Desktop freeze while drag-maximizing window
I am afraid I cannot install testing version of Ubuntu to my main system, since some other programs might not work with it and I should use it intensively quite long (over a week).
