[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 666604] Re: [Fujitsu LifeBook T4410] Touchscreen unusual in multi-head system
I have recently installed 'normal' ubuntu 13.10 on a Fujitsu T5010 tablet (which is almost identical to the T4410 I initially reported this bug on). The touchscreen and stylus inputs work as they should even with an external display connected. Which is good news for me. I might try this on a T4410 soon. But from my perspective this bug has been fixed; not certain if kubuntu uses a different driver or configuration? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/04 Title: [Fujitsu LifeBook T4410] Touchscreen unusual in multi-head system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/04/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Christopher, In the end I found the keyboard shortcut options via the sytem settings and found that the keyboard shortcuts for these actions had changed to something else, which I can't remember now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1272781] Re: Often system freezes
This issue seem to appear using fglrx (which is a proprietary driver, not under xorg's responsibility) and after altering some backlight parameters (such as closing lid). You may try to update your BIOS to last revision (A10) and blacklist dell_laptop module as I wrote in my previous post. I didn't noticed any freeze since I've done that and I'm still using fglrx-update package as driver. However, there is still plainty of boring issues under Linux distributions with this laptop : fan always at high speed which is noisy and useless (can be fixed using i8kutils), slow boot (~3 minutes) when using power-saving GPU (Intel Chip) and fglrx(-update), backlight broken (can be fixed adding acpi_backlight=vendor to boot options, and you've done that considering your logs). USB3 behavior seem weird also. Dell Inspiron 7520 is a special edition, and there must be too few users to really interest devs. They have other priorities -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1272781 Title: Often system freezes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1272781/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1026046] Re: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad
This issue has been kind of fixed upstream by a comment on a dependent bug, see: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66532#c5 The patch makes it so that all touches within AreaBottomEdge are ignored, which makes the touchpad usable. I don't know when/if this patch will be merged but it is possible to apply the patch to the synaptics 1.7.1 driver and compile it. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #66532 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66532 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1026046 Title: Missing support for thumb resting on bottom of clickpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1026046/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273832] [NEW] [i915] Lockscreen/lid-close xserver freeze if UXA accel used.
Public bug reported: On a Haswell system, if AccelMethod UXA selected in xorg.conf, xserver freezes (moveable cursor, but frozen and unresponsive desktop) each time the screen is locked (either via inactivity or lid close on laptop) . This freeze does not occur if SNA AccelMethod is selected. This freeze can also be avoided if vblank_mode=0 is used, even if UXA acceleration selected. 1) Ubuntu release: 13.10, but I also tested this on 12.04 LTS, in which case I got exactly the same bug, only the frozen screen was blank rather than frozen desktop image. 2) Expected result: No freeze when locking screen/closing lid. Just the login screen greeter. 3) How to reproduce: On Haswell system, in xorg.conf: Section Device Identifier Intel Graphics Driver intel Option AccelMethod UXA #bug occurs # Option AccelMethod SNA #(default) no bug! EndSection reboot. Try closing the lid or locking screen a number of times (normally within a few attempts you will see the freeze). 4) Resolution: Short term solution is to switch to a tty and back. Alternatively, boot with the SNA acceleration method instead. Another alternative: use a dri config file in home directory: ~/.drirc containing device screen=0 driver=dri2 application name=Default option name=vblank_mode value=0/ /application /device to turn off vsync. 5) Importance for fglrx driver users with AMD cards: fglrx and pxpress by default force the i915 driver to use UXA mode, thus when selecting the iGPU users of fglrx will experience this freezing bug. Jacob Hemstad, if you are saying the enablement stack doesn't work for whatever reason, that would be a bug in the stack, which you are welcome to report a bug against the stack package. No if my memory serves me correctly, in the beginning of using 13.10 there was no corruption with the mesa drivers. It was not until updates after its release did these corruptions begin to appear on this machine. The issues with fglrx have been intermittent. I believe at the initial launch of 13.10 fglrx did not function at all nor would it install or it installed, but was unusable due to system/graphic crashes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273403] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9333] Touchpad not detected correctly
Jacob, I reported in the other bug that this was fixed for me with a clean install of 13.10. However, I've just realised that Dell replaced my motherboard the day before I did the install. The replacement motherboard is on the A01 BIOS, whereas the previous board was on A02. Can you confirm which BIOS you're running? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273403] Re: [Dell XPS 13 9333] Touchpad not detected correctly
Interesting. I am on BIOS Version A02. I can get the touchscreen to work if I install the config-usb-hid- synaptics-touchscreen_1_all.db from Dell's downloads: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/xps-13-9333?driverId=4NTWRosCode=1204AfileId=3334721637languageCode=ENcategoryId=CS So it would seem that this is an issue with the A02 BIOS and Ubuntu 13.1.
