[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307723] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Freezes completely - Power Button Reset

2014-04-18 Thread Miguel de Freitas Fonseca
Ok Timo, could you please elaborate?

What exactly does that mean?

I have installed the PF-Kernel, based on the 3.14 Mainline Ubuntu Kernel, and
I've never had a freeze again!
Except for some troubles with Flash in Firefox, that made me force close the
browser, the freezes never happended again!

So, what does your unique, and very short sentence means?

Is there a better specific answer to my problem that you can provide?

Do you need more data?

What should I do to solve the problem, when using tha mainline 3.14.1
Ubuntu Kernel?

Waiting for a more compreensive and decisive replay.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278012] Re: tearing with vsync enabled

2014-04-18 Thread Uveges Valentin
A workaround for ubuntu 14.04 with nvidia driver is to disable backing
store in xorg:

Make sure you have the -bs option in lightdm config file:
cat /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-xserver-command.conf
[SeatDefaults]
# Dump core
xserver-command=X -bs -core

2014-04-18 Thread Bill
Alberto I never did try the NVIDIA installer. Anthony had done that.
I've been using the ubuntu driver set from the outset, regardless here's
a fresh log out put.

2014-04-18 Thread John Przybytek
Found a workaround for this bug - not an elegant solution, but will get
things going on both the live disk and the install . Mess with Grub!

I used the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nomodeset

See this workaround at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1307236] Re: NVidia Issues - blurry text after upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Anthony Borrow
@Alberto - I understand that you do not support the NVidia installer. I
mentioned it as a workaround as that is what I needed to get my system
working again without the blur and I needed to go back to being
productive. I was thinking with Bill's information with the blur and
mine without that something might emerge as the cause - it seemed to be
focus related. Do you have a recommended package think would be best to
install nvidia-prime or another? When I get a moment, I could try
uninstalling the NVidia installer and then working with what is
supported to provide a nvidia-bug-report.log. Peace - Anthony

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246215] Re: Ubuntu 13.10, wrong settings for Apple (mouse) touchpad in Macbook 4, 1

2014-04-18 Thread Clinton
This looks relevant:

-commit d5ff9d8b0b186cf39695df84a10984eac559b746
+Turn down the default sensitivity for unibody MacBook touchpads
+
+The touchpads are too sensitive by default. A touch is activated when a
+finger hovers a millimeter off the device. This change turns down the
+default sensitivity so that accidental touchpad interactions are
+lessened and pointer interaction accuracy is increased.

Okay, the fix for this is to disable FXAA antialiasing in nvidia-

In the terminal, type:

Then a control panel will open.

Uncheck the FXAA Antialiasing box.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309803] [NEW] Oscillating speed (of key repeat, animations, etc) after upgrade to 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Keith Z-G
Public bug reported:

After my upgrade to 14.04, I rebooted and logged in again. I noticed
that several aspects, including key repeating, seemed to accelerate in
their speed over a short period of time, and then at the peak of speed
(such that, for example, the quickest key press I could manage would
nonetheless print at least 15 of the key, and the page loading animation
in Chrome tabs was spinning quicker than the eye could distinguish) it
would suddenly drop back down to what appears to be the base set rate.

I switched to VT1 and saw this happen there too, so it wasn't merely
confined to KDE or even X11.

Upon rebooting again, the problem had vanished. I was encouraged on
#kubuntu to submit a bug, so here we are!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor

2014-04-18 Thread Ichigo
I have a triple screen setup on a freshly installed Trusty (Final
Release), this bug exists, it flickers non-stop on monitors 1 2 but
never on the 3rd monitor. FYI, I did not tweak anything xorg.conf wise,
because the open source ATI driver worked out of the box.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309837] [NEW] unity desktop missing

2014-04-18 Thread Paul Hartzman
Public bug reported:

I was trying to get wallch to function in ubuntu 14.04. The system
locked up and I had to reboot. After rebooting, the unity desktop no
longer had a launch bar or a menu bar at the top of the screen. There
is no way to launch any programs or to log out or shut down without
doing a reset. Is there a way I can fix the unity desktop?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309845] [NEW] fglrx drivers not working after upgrading to ubuntu 14.04

2014-04-18 Thread Tanmay Pandey
Public bug reported:

I was on ubuntu 13.10 and was using manually installed amd beta graphics
driver. Mfter y system has a hybrid Intel hd4400 and AMD Radeon 8670M graphics
card. After upgrading to Ubuntu 14.04 it booted to black screen. On tty1 I
tried to run fglrxinfo , it returned Command not found
Then I did
sudo apt-get -purge fglrx*
sudo reboot
after rebooting got the same problem
tried to install the same driver
using
sudo ./amd-driver-installer-13.35.1005-x86.x86_64.run
and followed the instruction, then got an error msg installation failed
tried manually building and installing, first it failed, then using Synaptic
packet manager I fixed broken packages then tried to install , it installed ,
but on
sudo aticonfig --initial
it says unable to find command aticonfig
rebooted again and ran
fglrxinfo
again unable to find command.
