[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1326688] [NEW] Can't disable panning on multiple monitors

2014-06-05 Thread Nicola Bressan
Public bug reported:

System:

Dell laptop E6520 with two graphic cards:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core
Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA
controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF119M [NVS 4200M] (rev
a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

I have 3 monitors connected through docking stations, DP-0 and DP-1
connected to Nvidia card and VGA-1-0 connected to Intel card.

I'm usind nvida-331 driver and nvidia-prime:

nbr@nbr-nb:~$ dpkg --get-selections | grep nvidia
nvidia-331 install
nvidia-common install
nvidia-libopencl1-331 install
nvidia-opencl-icd-331 install
nvidia-primeinstall
nvidia-settings install

I can setup correctly this triple-head config with Monitor Settings in
Ubuntu Control Panel, but this enable panning as per xrandr output:

nbr@nbr-nb:~$ xrandr -q | grep conn
VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-0 connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 376mm x
301mm panning 2560x1024+0+0 tracking 4240x1050+0+0 border 0/0/0/0
DP-1 connected primary 1680x1050+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y
axis) 433mm x 270mm panning 2960x1050+1280+0 tracking 4240x1050+0+0 border
0/0/0/0
HDMI-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DP-3 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS-1-0 connected
VGA-1-0 connected 1280x1024+2960+0 376mm x 301mm

and it seems there is no way to disable it (even issuing xrandr with
--panning 0x0+0+0 option to DP-0 and DP-1 has no effect).

This was working correctly after a undock/dock of the laptop, maybe an
update broke config since it has always showed problems with
undock/dock, but a reboot always cured the situation. Now it can't be
setup like initial config anymore (three indipendent monitors with no
panning and windows moving around all monitors).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1309044] Re: Unity webapps crash Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on my computer

2014-06-05 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
The second bug was definitely a dupe, the problem seems to be with
threaded opengl. Nouveau does not currently support this..

The following hack fixes the issue in a nasty way by creating separate
screen objects with the same drm device. libdrm is only thread-safe with
libdrm 2.4.54 or later. This probably won't break vdpau, though I'm not
completely sure..

The real fix is making nouveau thread-safe, it's been discussed on the
#nouveau channel:

log/?channel=nouveaudate=2014-06-04

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1290002] Re: Volume wheel (Dell keyboard) not adjusting Ubuntu volume properly after update

2014-06-05 Thread Harry P
Is this issue ever going to be fixed?

Or no one cares anymore about older Ubuntu versions? 12.04 was supposed
to be LTS!

These issues should have not been neglected, nor allowed to happen in
the first place.

Before that specific update, which i suspect is this one: xkb-data:amd64
(2.5-1ubuntu1.3, 2.5-1ubuntu1.5),

everything on my keyboard was working flawlessly. I cannot use the
quickbuttons around the volume wheel or the volume wheel at all. This
should be an easy fix for the developers.

Please look into it as it is very annoying.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards

2014-06-05 Thread Aaron Plattner
Christopher, is there some actual discussion somewhere where licensing
is called out as a problem, or are you just referring to Stephen's
comment #325? I'll bet it just that no one who has permission to push
updated packages has noticed this bug and I don't know how to attract
the attention of someone who does.

The discussion is between Canonical lawyers (who require a CLA for non-
trivial contributions to Canonical code, including at this time Compiz)
and nVidia, who own the copyright on the contributed code and do not
agree to a CLA.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1247736] Re: [SRU] nvidia-opencl-icd-* should not conflicts/replaces on opencl-icd

2014-06-05 Thread Clark Malmgren
@ginggs, Sorry for the vague report. I was trying to install
playonlinux which was requiring that it remove nvidia-libopencl1-331. I
updated the nvidia packages using your PPA but still saw the message
requiring the removal of nvidia-libopencl1-331 in order to install
playonlinux.

I followed the instructions on #7 which make it clear that an
alternative implementation for that lib is installed instead of just
removing something potentially vital. This seems to work just fine.
