[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375194] [NEW] lightdm session constantly switches screen appearance
Public bug reported: After installing regular software updates on 23 Sept, my screen session has become almost unusable. The screen appearance (font, button style, window menu bar location) alternates about twice a second between my usual settings and what I guess are the default un-decorated settings. This means that text, buttons, and input areas are often moving around on the screen as the font size changes or the window menu bar comes and goes. In addition, keyboard input characters take a variable time to appear (up to a few seconds?) and can appear in the wrong order. CPU utilisation is much higher when I am logged on. See TOP output below. I get the same problems with any one of Chromium, Firefox, Thunderbird, Ubuntu Software Centre, BASH terminal window. When I first sign on, I get a message system software problem detected in a panel by itself, before the desktop is displayed, and again after the desktop is displayed. This is connected with the bug, but I can't find out the details of the error. I have selected report the problem repeatedly. The software installed on 23 Sept included Dbus , libdbus-1-3, and dbus-x11 versions 1.6.18-0ubuntu4.2. I tried downgrading these 3 to -0ubuntu4 but the problem remained after a reboot. There were about 20-30 packages updated at the same time, including linux-image, but I can't spot which might be causing the problem. I'm using a clean install of ubuntu 14.04 but with my /home directory from an older ubuntu installation. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1374131] Re: qtcreator-plugin autopkgtest fails on AMD64 mesa mesa_10.3.0
I've managed to reproduce this. This seems to be caused because swrast is now linked into the gallium megablob as well. Before llvmpipe was statically linked into libGL.so Adding a depends on libgl1-mesa-dri to libegl1-mesa and libgl1-mesa-glx should fix things. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1374131] Re: qtcreator-plugin autopkgtest fails on AMD64 mesa mesa_10.3.0
Ok, it also seems that libgbm1 was pulling in libgl1-mesa-dri directly in 10.2.6, this is why libgl1-mesa-dri was installed in the first place. /usr/lib/$ARCH/gbm/gbm_gallium_drm.so was linking to the shared libgallium.so . This no longer happens with 10.3.0 because we drop the patches that build gallium shared, because upstream handles it better. I would say this proves that the tests are all broken and need to add an explicit depend on libgl1-mesa-dri somewhere. But since this has been going on for so long I think the easiest thing to do is fixing up the mesa packaging for backwards compatability. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374131 Title: qtcreator-plugin autopkgtest fails on AMD64 mesa mesa_10.3.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1374131/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1364003] Re: [FFE] mesa 10.3
Hey, It is my opinion the autopkgtests themselves were broken, but I've added explicit depends in mesa to always force libgl1-mesa-dri to be installed when libgl1-mesa-dri, libegl1-mesa or libgbm1 are installed. This allows the tests to run correctly again, and presumably fixes the armhf tests too. ~Maarten -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1364003 Title: [FFE] mesa 10.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1364003/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375263] [NEW] Touchpad not identified properly
Public bug reported: When I go to System - Preferences - Mouse, I don't see any of the options for adjusting the touchpad sensitivity, scrolling, tapping, etc. I'm able to control the pointer and click by tapping using the touchpad, but I'm unable to do any scrolling, or two-finger tapping. The system doesn't seem to be identifying the touchpad correctly. When I run xinput -list, and xinput --test, the input which responds to touchpad movement is labeled PS/2 generic mouse. I found a page on debugging touchpad detection in the ubuntu wiki, which instructs me to attach the output of some commands to this report. I'm including the output from: cat /proc/bus/input/devices I am unable to attach more than one file, I'm not including that from xinput --list cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-36.63-generic 3.13.11.6 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-36-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu3.4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Sep 29 09:20:47 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: bcmwl, 6.30.223.141+bdcom, 3.13.0-32-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 6.30.223.141+bdcom, 3.13.0-35-generic, x86_64: installed bcmwl, 6.30.223.141+bdcom, 3.13.0-36-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:3978] InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-09-20 (8 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Trusty Tahr - Release amd64 (20140722.2) MachineType: LENOVO 20287 ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-36-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=7bef8a0e-4851-4c10-9517-d2cfcdfc127e ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 11/28/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 8DCN38WW dmi.board.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.board.name: VIUU4 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: 31900058STD dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr8DCN38WW:bd11/28/2013:svnLENOVO:pn20287:pvrLenovoIdeaPadZ510:rvnLENOVO:rnVIUU4:rvr31900058STD:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLenovoIdeaPadZ510: dmi.product.name: 20287 dmi.product.version: Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.11.2+14.04.20140714-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.52-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 10.1.3-0ubuntu0.1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 10.1.3-0ubuntu0.1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.15.1-0ubuntu2.1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.8.2-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.910-0ubuntu1.1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.10-1ubuntu2 xserver.bootTime: Mon Sep 29 08:53:32 2014 xserver.configfile: /etc/X11/xorg.conf xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.outputs: product id 998 vendor LGD xserver.version: 2:1.15.1-0ubuntu2.1 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu ** Attachment added: output from cat /proc/bus/input/devices https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375263/+attachment/4219131/+files/devices -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375263 Title: Touchpad not identified properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1375263/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 195982] Re: Shift key (and caps lock) stop working when using VMWare
Hi everyone, The issue seems to be reproducible the following way: 0. I am on Ubuntu 12.04.4 1. Install VMWare Player 6.0.2 or 6.0.3 2. Run a VM 3. Go To System settings in Host Ubuntu - Keyboard Layout / Options /Caps Lock behavior - Make Caps Lock an additional Control but keep Caps_Lock keysym 4. After this, swinging the mouse over a virtual machine's desktop triggers the issue. 5. Running setxkbmap in terminal is a good workaround I finally remembered that I changed the keyboard layout with this modification (thanks to this comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard- config/+bug/195982/comments/226) I had this for a few days but this issue was really a pain. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375404] [NEW] Function keys are not working on intel graphics
Public bug reported: I am ubuntu user eversince, Ubuntu 12.10 came. I have been using a machine with intel graphics i.e. Intel HD 3000. There are no issues but functions keys don't work for broghtness also one can't change it simple. From the past, I have tried Ubuntu/Lubuntu 13.04/13.10/14.04 now but this is not seemed to be resolved in coming distribution so I am submitting it as a bug to ubuntu. There is a pretty good workaround for this problem on wiki.ubuntu.com in section kernel LCD backlight debugging section. But I would love if I see solved problem in coming future distributions as many people are affected due to graphics issue of intel with Ubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1323006] Re: touchpad too sensitive. focus jumps all over document on text input
Maarten, System76 has been using a patched unity-settings-daemon that launches syndaemon with: syndaemon -i 0.75 -K -R This has worked extremely well for us on Trusty (and we have solid customer survey data confirming that this has greatly improved the user experience). However, something strange is going on with xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Utopic. If you get syndaemon into its disabled state by typing a quick burst of characters, you can often keep it stuck in this disabled state by moving your finger back and forth on the track pad. It seems as if the inactivity countdown isn't starting till there is a period when neither any keypresses nor any mouse movement has happened. Can you think of any changes that might have cause this behavior? Steps to reproduce: 1) open gedit 2) move finger back and forth on clickpad, confirm that cursor is moving back and forth 3) while continuing to move finger back and forth on the clickpad, type a few characters... cursor should disappear 4) cursor should be re-enabled around 0.75 seconds after you stop typing, but sometimes it will remain stuck in the disabled mode as long as there is more or less continuous motion on the clickpad 5) if stuck in the disabled state, it seems briefly lifting your finger off the track pad is reliable way to unstick it -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1323006 Title: touchpad too sensitive. focus jumps all over document on text input To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/1323006/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375445] [NEW] No phonetic Russian layout for azerty keyboards
Public bug reported: Users of azerty keyboards lack of Russian phonetic layout. Their only option is to use phonetic qwerty. This is not really acceptable, so I propose to add support with the attached patches for azerty Russian phonetic wit the following variants: - ru(phonetic_azerty): basic phonetic azerty - ru(phonetic_winkeys_azerty): basic phonetic azerty, with WinKeys - ru(phonetic_fr): French specific phonetic azerty. This completes the 3rd level following the French layout (Alt Gr + a key) - ru(phonetic_winkeys_fr): same, with WinKeys base.xml.patchpatches /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.xml base.lst.patchpatches /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst evdev.xml.patch patches /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev.xml ru.patch patches /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/ru Please tell me if anything is wrong or could be improved. Please also note that I know almost nothing of the Russian language and its Cyrillic alphabet so there could be errors. We also could want to add this layout for users coming from Windows and used to it : http://tnit.fr/aa.htm Cheers, Raphaël. ** Affects: xkeyboard-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: layout phonetic russian ** Patch added: ru.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375445/+attachment/4219514/+files/ru.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xkeyboard-config in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375445 Title: No phonetic Russian layout for azerty keyboards To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xkeyboard-config/+bug/1375445/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1375505] [NEW] Screen locked into dimmed mode after sleep; brightness controls do nothing (Recent regression)
Public bug reported: After an update in the last week (and I have updated frequently, so it's new), my laptop is *sometimes* coming out of sleep from closing the lid with a fully-dimmed screen when it is waiting for me to reauthenticate to unlock the system.
