[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1418295] Re: Black screen after resuming from suspend
Switching VTs has no effect, tried several times just now. Killing the unity-panel-service resolved it again. I usually have to kill -9 it, then a new one respawns, then I kill that one normally, and the lock screen generally reappears then. I'll install today's driver update and recheck next time it occurs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418295 Title: Black screen after resuming from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1418295/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 980519] Re: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
I also got this bug recently. At random clicks on random programs (Chrome, web site links, etc), I would get logged out (black screen that flutters constantly between the login until I click on the mouse, move the mouse, type something, or in some cases wait long enough, in which a stable login screen will appear to allow me to log back in). However, I was able to fix this issue by not using unity. Instead I installed gnome and logged out and back in with gnome (I'm using the class with no effects version). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1418295] Re: Black screen after resuming from suspend
I was hopeful, it worked great a few times in a row, but as I was about to call it fixed it came back. This time the desktop was visible instead of black, but again I couldn't interact with anything. Killing unity-panel-service was the solution again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1418679] [NEW] Multiline text controls occasionally get corrupted on refresh
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have recently updated from Ubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) to Ubuntu MATE 14.10 (64-bit). After upgrading, I find that some text controls have a refresh issue that seems to get triggered either by scrolling or adding a new line when the text already contains more lines than can be displayed at a time. This happens infrequently and is not always reproducible. The issue is that some lines in the text control show as blank lines. I have noticed this happen in the following applications: * Eclipse 3.8 * Thunderbird (various versions) * Firefox (various versions). In Firefox text is occasionally clipped, but not necessarily at line boundaries. Other applications seem fine, it might be related to the widget toolkit (OTOH, the apps above use two different widget toolkits – Eclipse uses SWT while the other two use XUL). I am also seeing a different kind of output corruption in Terminal, which may or may not be related. Similar to the above, it happens when I press ENTER while at the bottom of the terminal window. I have seen the same issue on a second computer running a custom Linux build based on Kubuntu 12.04 (32-bit) with some components (including the kernel) being later versions than what is included in 12.04. A third computer, also running Ubuntu MATE 14.10, does not seem to have this issue. This seems to be a bug introduced into Ubuntu after 12.04, though I can't tell which component is at fault. It is possibly related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1239607. I will post more details (including screenshots) soon, so bear with me. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- Multiline text controls occasionally get corrupted on refresh https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418679 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1253068] Re: Constant GPU Lock-ups with Ubuntu 14.04 13.04 and 13.10
The reported bug for my graphics card wasn't actually a driver problem, instead it was an issue with the hardware card itself. GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation G73 [GeForce 7600 GS] [10de:02e1] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device [1458:3428] This particular card is passive cooled and due to normal usage it probably overheated several times degrading the soldering quality a electrical contacts, so that at a given point in time the above described was verified. However the problem persisted like that for a long time it eventually conducted to a fully non working graphics card. Such that the computer would boot but no image would ever be displayed. The problem was fixed by ressoldering the GPU chip and including active cooling to the graphics card. Now the same card works properly with Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I think this problem can be closed, at least for my side. Yes, nothing on 3.18 Originally I didn't test any of the stable releases for 3.18, it was the standard 3.18, I believe the hash assigned to the tag 'v3.18'. http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.18-vivid/ It would make sense to me if it was broken somewhere in between v3.18 and v3.18.3 though as lots of stuff that goes into mainline backports to @stable. I went back and tried the stable releases on the mainline PPA. v3.18.1: OK v3.18.2: OK v3.18.3: Reproduces problem Between 3.18 and 3.19-rc1 there's 4 commits to i2c-hid (most likely culprit driver to me) d1c7e29e8d276c669e8790bb8be9f505ddc4 HID: i2c-hid: prevent buffer overflow in early IRQ 721564a950fdbc07adf9c1e114b73feb97446ec2 i2c-hid / PM: Replace CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME with CONFIG_PM 6296f4a8eb86f9abcc370fb7a1a116b8441c17fd HID: i2c-hid: fix race condition reading reports 08bb7beae7fe102939fe5931222fc09e10d27cda HID: i2c-hid: print the correct data in dbg msg Between 3.18.2 and 3.18.3 these other two stand out to me - same as they were between 3.18 and 3.19-rc1 HID: i2c-hid: prevent buffer overflow in early IRQ HID: i2c-hid: fix race condition reading reports -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1416601 Title: touchpad does not respond to tap-to-clicks in I2C mode in Ubuntu 15.04 on 2015 XPS 13 (9343) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1416601/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1416601] Re: touchpad does not respond to tap-to-clicks in I2C mode in Ubuntu 15.04 on 2015 XPS 13 (9343)
I didn't do a proper bisect, but I have a variety of mainline kernels from the mainline PPA I tried. v3.16 works properly v3.17 some rc's are using ps2 mode due to some i2c failure, others work properly v3.18 works properly v3.19-rc1 fails v3.19-rc5 fails v3.19-rc6 fails Whenever someone does a proper bisect, make sure that i2c-hid is loaded and in use. it might help to blacklist psmouse to ensure that it doesn't fall back to psmouse in case of a different failure. There is a different problem with psmouse that is not this bug. Also, make sure that you are NOT booted with acpi_osi=!Windows 2013. This will cause the touchpad to only run in PS2 mode.
