[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1352374] Re: changing backlight color on saitek eclipse 2 keyboard causes mouse failure
Status New I have updated the BIOS from version 1503 (1-16-13) to version 2501. Here is the output of your command: marty@tux:~$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date [sudo] password for marty: 2501 04/07/2014 marty@tux:~$ The behavior is unchanged from before the BIOS update. If I wait until the system finishes booting and I am on my desktop and attempt to change the start up color of the keyboard illumination from blue to red, I lose most mouse left and right click ability on the desktop area. I can still click the gear icon and have the system log off and log back on as long as I don't wait too long. The longer I wait to attempt the log off, the less mouse function I have until all it does is move the cursor around, but nothing is clickable. The keyboard will still function for a much longer period of time until everything becomes unresponsive. My current work around is to change the keyboard color as soon as the boot process starts to load the Linux kernel. If I wait until I am on the desktop to change the color, then I must immediately log off and back on and everything is fine as long as I don't attempt to change the color again. Any further changes of keyboard color require an immediate log off and on to keep the system stable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1352374 Title: changing backlight color on saitek eclipse 2 keyboard causes mouse failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1352374/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1382134] Re: Resolution
Abhishek, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1382134 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Also, you don't have to create a new report. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1360393] Re: Impossible to enable DPM
Joseph Ligier, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Hello Christopher, with people from the LUG Balista we have solved the problem. My Monitor ! (16:9) settings are misaligned during the Update from 12.04 to 14.04. In the LUG we have only 4:3 Monitor, so the problem was not reproducible. After more than three times in the LUG come a friend to my home and we look together to rectify the fault. At least he said look at the Setting at your monitor. And so we found the solution. My friend do not now, why this problem was. But now my monitor works normal. Thank you for help. Tommy_CZ, as per http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201518 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (mba41.0077.b11). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags added: bios-outdated ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385495 Title: Xorg freeze - Ubuntu doesn't wake up from suspend to ram on Macbook Air. Fluence, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Francisco Carriedo Scher, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1386203 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. foudoulis, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404479] Re: Xorg crash
Martin Vysny, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your chromium crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: sudo nano /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Please feel free to subscribe me to this new report. Also, please do not attach your crash report manually to this report and reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1402360] Re: Keine Hdmi- Anschluss mehr möglich/No HDMI connection possible
Frank Boßmann, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1402684] Re: some aplications are not responding and key board problems
Carlitos Navarro, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1402684 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1404247] Re: Vivid Wallpaper hashed
Testing vervid I do updates most days and installs every couple weeks. Typically there are a whole pile of packages (!) so us users don't install package by package so we can't tell which caused the trouble. I reported the bug on Dec. 19 and the bug persists on every update and every couple weeks a new .iso install still has the bug example this one zsync'd a couple days ago. Now of course 14.04 and 14.10 and earlier 15.04's do not have the bug. Neither does Win7. The closest I can get to the bug is: Boot Wallpaper hashed. Drop down windows O.K. File Pictures right click on desired jpg - I've tried a number, both mine and the ubuntu wallpapers Set as Wallpaper After one or two or three tries the wallpaper is correct, no hash. What packages are involved in Set as Wallpaper? Thanks for looking at this bug. I run ubuntu vivid 64 on this Lenovo M58p. Bashar, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 921321]
(In reply to Erik Karlsson from comment #50) Created attachment 113754 [details] [review] drm/nv50: Fix backlight not working when PWM_DIV is uninitialised (v4) I redid the patch for 3.18.6. Not sure what the use of removed nvif_rd32() chunk was, but it doesn't seem to be necessary anymore. Could this fix be predicated on the specific PCI ID if the effects are uncertain? No, the value of NV50_PDISP_SOR_PWM_DIVis not derived from the PCI ID. Judging by some other traces I've seen, we can't just unconditionally set 0x5e to NV50_PDISP_SOR_PWM_DIV. Rather, someone needs to step up and figure out how this parameter is correctly determined, which requires some RE'ing work on a laptop that actually has it's brightness controlled by the NVIDIA GPU rather than ACPI or some other backlight component. Only then a patch like this can be merged. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921321 Title: nouveau: dark screen after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/921321/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1407143] Re: SYSTEM PROBLEM
RAGHAV SHARAN, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1408445] Re: Wake up and Wired adapter problems
The Unknown, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and- netbooks/lenovo-b-series-laptops/lenovo-b590-notebook an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.00). ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1408445 Title: Wake up and Wired adapter problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1408445/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
