[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1547235] Re: x1250 rs600m graphical corruption
Yes, I know, it´s impossible to play any game since this damn driver- situation changed. And I am about to sell this (still great) laptop, too...but this could be no solution. What will happen is, that the poor buyers sitting in 4 weeks here, where we are now. However, I am getting more and more tired with this shit-situation...and that bugreports here ´expire´ (even if the problems are still exist) or someone again and again setting reports to ´incomplete´ does not make this feeling better - so please Mr Penalver, tell me why you set this to ´incomplete´ again and what information is missing, that I can give them to you asap -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1547235 Title: x1250 rs600m graphical corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1547235/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1547235] Re: x1250 rs600m graphical corruption
Not 2011, earlier. I still have Samsung R60plus, which will be sold this month. I don't know who this poor person will be. Basically, you can't do any 3D with it. The memory gets corrupted resulting in lines and trash on the screen. This includes any compositing. If you live in Europe, I can sell you the laptop for €70+shipping or look at ebay. As it turns out, xdiagnose was still Depending on Python 2. I completed the port by switching to --buildsystem=pybuild and dropping all Python 2-isms. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1547235] Re: x1250 rs600m graphical corruption
Micha, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please provide the full computer model as noted on the sticker of the computer itself (not from the Bug Description)? ** Description changed: - Further informations are known by x threads all around the net since 2011 - - there is a problem with the free Radeon-driver and the x1250 rs600m-graphic card! - - It does not only affect Ubuntu, it also affects Debian or Mint (which I - prefer to use). - - Ubuntu itself has graphical corruptions on the Unity-desktop directly - after installation...simply look all the pics around the net (or into - the attachment). Same corruptions on Ubuntu-games (Teeworld for example) - as in Mint and so on - - - it is no Ubuntu- or Mesaproblem, there definately must be a bug or - problem with the free driver in my opinion. - - - (dear mr Penalver - now you have another report (you can mark as a duplicate...I still do not know how this report here should make any difference to all the existing ones)), for the case that all the reports around the internet since 2011 are not enough. I do not know what a repository-kernel is, I simply installed the daily build of Ubuntu some days ago - if it is REALLY (!) neccessary to try around with any repos-kernel (what I do not believe), pls give me informations how to do that) + Ubuntu has graphical corruptions as per the attachment. ** Description changed: # Summary * Some glyphs badly drawn at some moments. * When happens, same glyph drawn on various windows shows same corruption. * Problem comes and go. # Context Laptop, using Intel driver. Expected: all glyphs rendered correctly. Observed: some glyphs not rendered correctly - * sometimes (problem comes and go, severity varies) - * *some* glyphs are affected. Oops, it looks like putting a short description obscures the attachment names. You can hover the links with your mouse to see file names. I'm willing to run other apps, but bug only appears after a while. Logging out then in cures the bug. The bug sometimes disappears on its own (it has currently disappeared). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1547077] [NEW] Some glyphs drawn consistently wrong, bug comes and go
Public bug reported: # Summary * Some glyphs badly drawn at some moments. * When happens, same glyph drawn on various windows shows same corruption. * Problem comes and go. # Context Laptop, using Intel driver. Expected: all glyphs rendered correctly. Observed: some glyphs not rendered correctly * sometimes (problem comes and go, severity varies) * *some* glyphs are affected. For example, letter 'a' of a certain size will be replaced by colored garbage at many places where it appears (see 2016y02m18d_16h05m35s_0100Z_same_corruption_on_different_windows.png ), but other 'a' with different size, italic, bold, etc will be unaffected * in some applications (e.g. xfce whisker menu), some glyphs are rendered correctly or not depending on the direction of mouse hovering. See video 2016y02m16d_21h41m14s_0100Z_whisker_menu_missing_glyphs.mp4 . * in menu of gtk application, some glyphs are "fixed" by opening the menu, but not all. For example, in xfce4-terminal, letter A of "Affichage" and its menu content as well as "Aide" is affected. Opening "Affichage" menu does not fix anything. Opening "Aide" menu fixes the "A" of "Aide". Changing window size reactivates the bug on "A" or "Aide". See video 2016y02m18d_16h14m25s_0100Z_glyph-redrawn-bug.mp4 . * text under icons on desktop is affected, but shadows are not. See 2016y02m16d_21h32m11s_0100Z_x_bug_reenabling_antialias_reactivates_problem_shadow_unaffected.png # Affected applications Affected applications include: * xfce whisker menu, * xfce4-terminal, * firefox (see 2016y02m17d_18h08m27s_0100Z_x_bug_glyph_firefox_gnome_org.png 2016y02m16d_21h32m11s_0100Z_x_bug_reenabling_antialias_reactivates_problem_shadow_unaffected.png ), * thunderbird (see 2016y02m16d_21h28m35s_0100Z_x_bug_affects_thunderbird_terminal.png ), * emacs (see 2016y02m10d_18h41m49s_0100Z_wow_screen_flickers_and_most_glyphs_wrong_00.png and subsequent ), * superswitcher ( a gtk/gdk app) * *NOT* affected: xterm, xmessage. Perhaps only gtk/gdk/pango/cairo are affected. # Additional information This looks like a cache corruption somewhere. On IRC #ubuntu+1, someone suggested a bug in Intel driver. Running `xfce4-appearance-settings` and there changing any of: * antialiasing enable/disable, * hinting strength, * subpixel alignment * or dpi immediately cures the bug (see 2016y02m16d_21h31m52s_0100Z_x_bug_disabling_antialias_immediately_cures_problem.png ) Setting back the exact same parameters immediately reactivates the bug (see 2016y02m16d_21h32m11s_0100Z_x_bug_reenabling_antialias_reactivates_problem_shadow_unaffected.png). It is believed that keeping any new settings for a while will have the bug reoccur. It is not like bug 1536751. That one affects rendering quality of *all* glyphs, at all times, depending on dpi. This is not the case here: *some* glyphs (randomly chosen) are drawn corrupted (replaced by garbage or absent), not always. # Other 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu export LC_ALL=C ; lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch) Release:16.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+13ubuntu1 Candidate: 1:7.7+13ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1:7.7+13ubuntu1 500 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) What you expected to happen 4) What happened instead Written above. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1542028] Re: xapp window should reflect app name rather than "Xmir root window"
Xmir still needs to be updated in the Overlay PPA and I will need to make some modifications to Libertine to make use of the "-title @" option. ubuntu-app-laucnh hardcodes the options used in Xmir, so instead of having to patch u-a-l every time, I have a plan to make a script in Libertine that calls Xmir how we want to set and to also set an env var to tell u-a-l to use the script instead. ** Package changed: puritine (Ubuntu) => libertine (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: libertine Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: libertine (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: libertine Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: libertine Importance: Undecided => High ** Also affects: libertine/trunk Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libertine/devel Importance: High Status: In Progress ** Changed in: libertine/trunk Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: libertine/trunk Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: libertine/devel Assignee: (unassigned) => Christopher Townsend (townsend) ** Changed in: libertine/trunk Assignee: (unassigned) => Christopher Townsend (townsend) ** Changed in: libertine (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Christopher Townsend (townsend) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1542028 Title: xapp window should reflect app name rather than "Xmir root window" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1542028/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1525735] Re: X server fails to start under regular user in Xenial
I have 16.04LTS 64bit Desktop installed on my Dell Precision M4400 laptop which does use NVidia graphics card. I have an Acer 4K monitor and am running the 340 series NVidia Linux 64 driver. This morning the system installed an update, which included the series 4 kernel. The system boots and enters the X Windows login screen. After authenticating the password the system logs in and then immediately "logs itself back out" returning to the signon screen. This occurs for normal user and guest accounts. Any suggestions for a workaround? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1525735 Title: X server fails to start under regular user in Xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1525735/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
