Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1860483] Re: [nouveau, GeForce 7300 LE] screen background overlaid with scan type artifact in red
I replaced the Nvidia video card in my system and the problem seems to have gone with it. I had seen an improvement with the Nvidia card after switching from the digital video output to the on-card VGA output, but over a period of a couple of weeks or so, the video degraded again. The new card is a VisionTek Radeon 5450. If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597476] Re: GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default
Can confirm, it's the Nvidia driver installed however now. Will work on external monitor if the monitor is plugged in prior to boot. GeForce 7150m as well. Horizontal double image, stretched vertical with interlacing. What makes this unusual is the mouse cursor stays within the side bounds of the screen undistorted and clicks are where the image should have been horizontally but matches image location vertically. Mouse is bounded to screen sides but will go down to the off screen to where the bottom of image should be, about 2x screen height. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597476 Title: GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M uses an unusable resolution by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/597476/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875759] Re: keeps crashing
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875759 Title: keeps crashing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1875759/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

If I put it inside ubuntu desktop area of my screen it works fine, outside (right column and down line) it just performs like windows xp windows when it stuck (never saw it again on ubuntu since 11.10 that I am using it). live: test and keep these notes: install nvidia again reboot - 3rd try 100--> bigger desktop than my screen, needs to scroll (down or right) to see the rest 200--> the same enable fractional scaling (returns to 100 by itself) 150-->black (stop/start freesync from monitor, restored - maybe random behavior) 100 --> enable fractional-->200 by itself I repeat it, doesn't happen the second time 150-->black remove nvidia* through synaptic reboot 100-->ok 125,150,175 too slow 200-->ok install nvidia tested 100-->οκ 200-->οκ enable fractional scale-->turn to 100 itself 150-->black 125-->200 125(200) change back to 100 first 175-->black 200-->ok on 200, close fractional scale-->instead of return to 100 itself it doubles the area of the desktop (bigger than my real monitor area, so I have to scroll to see the rest of the desktop) 100-->100 with the same large desktop area issue deactivate fractional scale-->issue remain logout,logon--> 100 & ok -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873403 Title: [nvidia] Screen turns off when trying to set some fractional scaling values To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1873403/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875730] [NEW] Ubuntu 19.10+ screen corruption
Public bug reported: Last week-end, after restarting my T470s running Ubuntu 19.10, I experienced a lot of visual glitches that didn't occur before. However, I had already noticed that some applications were unexpectedly freezing for about 5-10 seconds. I have already tried reinstalling xorg, without success. Then, I tried running Ubuntu 20.04 from a USB stick, and the problem doesn't occur. Today, I have upgraded Ubuntu to version 20.04 to see if it would fix it, but without success again. Note that when I restart the display server (Alt-F2 -> r -> Enter), it fixes the problem (sometimes I have to restart it several times). I would be happy to give you more information if you need. Today, I have upgraded Ubuntu to version 20.04 to see if it would fix it, but without success again. + + Note that when I restart the display server (Alt-F2 -> r -> Enter), it + fixes the problem (sometimes I have to restart it several times). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875712] [NEW] Unusable graphics, nouveau + G73 (GEForce 7600)
Public bug reported: This is an older card, but it worked well on ubuntu 12.x :) Booting "Try Ubuntu" on 20.04 get the correct resolution and 2 displays, but the video glitches and shows all sorts of noise. It is largely unusable (which makes filing this bug very hard). Safe Graphics works in low-res. The nvidia proprietary driver seems to not support this device any more. I like this card because it has no fan (and I don't do a lot of graphics-intense stuff). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1826597] Re: Synaptic touchpad not responding in ubuntu 19.04 when using nvidia drivers
I confirm what zob wrote. I switched from Discrete to Hybrid mode in BIOS and now touchpad work fine. I use Nvidia proprietary driver from ubuntu standard repository (440.64), my only problem is screen tearing (PRIME profile set to performance mode). I don't know if the drivers from PPA repository fix touchpad and tearing problem. I read that Nvidia 440.66.11 Linux driver fixes annoying bugs With PRIME Sync: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item=NVIDIA-440.66.11-Linux. Previously I used the card in discrete mode with Fedora 31 and the proprietary Nvidia drivers 440.82 from RPM Fusion repository without any problems for touchpad or for tearing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1826597 Title: Synaptic touchpad not responding in ubuntu 19.04 when using nvidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-libinput/+bug/1826597/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875649] Re: Screen flickering in Kubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo Yoga C940 14-IIL
This is a small piece of the log when watching a log. the i915 eDP driver receives a "hotplug event received", which corresponds with a slingle flickering of the screen. So I assume something goes wrong with retraining the link, or for some reason the screen thinks that the pc is disconnected and triggers an interrupt, which then for some other reason flickers the screen. I'm not well-versed with eDP 1.4, so I assume to be totally wrong. ** Attachment added: "relevant portion of dmesg with "drm.debug=14" kernel parameter" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1875649/+attachment/5362494/+files/dmesg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875649 Title: Screen flickering in Kubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo Yoga C940 14-IIL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1875649/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875645] [NEW] Graphics corruption on shell on login screen and session screen
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 19.10 to 20.04 I am seeing blocky green and purple artefacts on icons, background images and text. This is visible on the login screen and once logged in. Only the "shell" is corrupted and any subsequent changes, such as changing the background image, are displayed without corruption. The corruption is random but it is predictable that it will appear on the launcher icons, background image and shell menu icons and text. I've tried swapping between available graphics drivers but it makes no difference. Text corruption in menus is on particular glyphs selected at random. In the screen shots, for example, all upper-case and lower-case 'O's are currupted but on a subsequent reboot the affected glyphs will vary. On filing this bug I also notice that the pop-up modal password requests also displayed the corrupted glyphs. No programms run subsequently will display any problems.
