Found a solution, thanks to this: http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/Optimus/ First, you have to add drm.rnodes=1 to the kernel parameters: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters Then, you need to make sure you (the user) are in the video group: sudo usermod -a -G video user Reboot, and it should work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1388647 Title: DRI_PRIME=1 has no effect in Ubuntu 14.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1388647/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Dear Bryce, You conclude this Bug Report with won't fix Do I have to understand that on this computer I cannot upgrade anymore the Ubuntu Version I'm using ? (as reminder this bug appear only with the latest version, no problem with 10.04 on same hardware) Or even if not fixed in this release, this Bug will be taken into account for further OS or EOG versions ? For sure, as workaround, I can always uninstall EOG that became useless for me and try to install a former version or to use another tool, but it is the utility basically installed to display pics. regards ALe 2012/5/24 Bryce Harrington 1001...@bugs.launchpad.net The system has an old i865 graphics card, which is older than what we support in Ubuntu. Thus this issue is not appropriate for a precise SRU fix. However, upstream (Intel) does provide limited support in the trunk code for these old cards. For these 8xx cards we just ship what they provide without distro modifications. Thus I would recommend that you raise the issue with upstream directly, by reporting it at bugs.freedesktop.org, and work on getting a fix into trunk. Fwiw, often with these type of bugs the problem has to do with the dimensions of the photo exceeding some GPU hardware limit. You could diagnose this further yourself by experimenting with different sized images and see if there is an X or Y dimension at which the system fails. Knowing that number can help developers narrow in on what buffer limit is being hit. ** Summary changed: - EYE for Gnome 3.4.1 installed with Ubuntu 12.04 freeze the computer when displaying jpeg pictures from my nikon camera this is not the case with my 10.04 install having EYE 2.30 'tested with same pics' + [i865] EYE for Gnome 3.4.1 installed with Ubuntu 12.04 freeze the computer when displaying jpeg pictures from my nikon camera this is not the case with my 10.04 install having EYE 2.30 'tested with same pics' ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Assignee: Bryce Harrington (bryce) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001249 Title: [i865] EYE for Gnome 3.4.1 installed with Ubuntu 12.04 freeze the computer when displaying jpeg pictures from my nikon camera this is not the case with my 10.04 install having EYE 2.30 'tested with same pics' Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: dears, I just want to report that EYE for Gnome 3.4.1 installed with Ubuntu 12.04 proably contain a bug Indeed, this utility freeze the computer when displaying some pictures in jpeg coming from my Nikon camera. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993921] [NEW] DVI resolution not recognized at boot time (but recognized later)
Public bug reported: With a dell precision 6400M, radeon HD 600 serie, a Eport-plus dock. I can't boot when i plug my dock with the video 1 dvi output to my DELL 24 external monitor. The external monitor warns me that the input timing is not correct and ask to set it at 1900*1200@60 (which is the optimal timing). If i boot using the vga port, and then switch to the dvi port , the screen is detected, and i can use it normally (eg: DVI, 1900*1200@60). For my own it's a bug. ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993921 Title: DVI resolution not recognized at boot time (but recognized later) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/993921/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 410248] Re: X consumes ever-increasing memory
Hello, Are-you sure that this bug is fixed on Karmic. Because I'm now on Karmic and 'top' shows that Xorg consumes 114Mo Res (386Mo Virt). Moreover some apps which use OpenGL like Cairo-Dock consumes anormally much memory only on my computer with an Intel Card (but less with the indirect mode and the consommation is 'normal' without the OpenGL backend :00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) -- X consumes ever-increasing memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410248 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
