[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1891235] [NEW] Upon resume from sleep the mouse is down upon moving it, selecting text and dragging icons

2020-08-11 Thread Albert Cardona
Public bug reported:

In this Thinkpax X1 Yoga, the touchscreen is managed by this wacom
driver. After a few sleep/resume cycles (maybe 4 or 5), the mouse starts
acting up: upon moving the mouse, it acts as if it was also down,
selecting text or dragging icons in nautilus. It is as if upon click and
then move, the mouse is never released, even if it has been.

To work around the issue, do:

sudo modprobe -r wacom
sudo modprobe wacom

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1675364] Re: [Regression] xmir applications fail to render

2017-03-23 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Yes, it persists across reboots (i'd say it started happening around 2
or 3 days ago)

I just used konsole as an example, it seems to me it's all xmir apps,
another one i tried and fails is gnome-sudoku.

started.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1578196] Re: External Display Port monitor not working

2016-07-08 Thread Albert
This bug affects me too. The external monitor connected via HDMI to a
Lenovo Thinkpad X1 yoga reports: "Please change your input timing to
1920x1200@60Hz", and xrandr shows that the monitor is being served at
1920x1200 59.95*+, which is a bizarre number that is almost 60Hz. Using
linux kernel "4.4.0-28-generic #47-Ubuntu SMP".

2016-05-02 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Daniel, i have an Asus S10-3t netbook lying around, that according to
wikipedia has a Intel Atom N470 processor which would be a pineview?

If you want me to try some stuff I can do. If you would rather have some
form of ssh access i guess we could also arrange it.

No. My question is about the driver causing the system to crash. It's
not about be unable to install the drivers. After I install the driver,
rebooting fails and stops at a particular point, as I described above.

2015-06-11 Thread Albert Li
It seems I'm having an issue with the newly released driver.

I installed this driver using

sudo apt-get install fglrx-updates

Rebooting fails. It stops at

1

* Stopping System V compatibility
* Starting ACPI daemon

I'm using the 6-core Mac Pro. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor

2014-04-19 Thread Nicolas Albert
After updating from Ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04.

I have a laptop with an Intel graphic card and a VGA monitor plugged. I
use Gnome3 but same behavior with Unity.

 * lightdm dual screen perfect
 * login to my session : IHM freeze, mouse flickering left/right/left/right …
and no VGA monitor
 * just unplug the VGA : works fine on my laptop screen directly
 * login to my wife session : everything works !

I got crazy many minutes and I have suspected xrandr : I seen in a log
file a refresh rate flickering.

I finaly find a ~/.config/monitors.xml and I replace mine by my wife
version : problem solved!

I don't have time to investigate more, but I hope it could help you.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1181902] Re: Nouveau driver glitch on Ubuntu 13.04 will cause system to freeze under certain conditions

2013-12-21 Thread Albert
I can confirm this bug affects my computer using nvidia and ubuntu gnome
13.10 (random visual artifacts and freezes). This does not happen on
another computer using intel graphics card. This is very annoying
because I can't install the drivers from nvidia, if I do my computer
hangs while starting up, showing a black screen.

Please vmclark, can you copy here the .config settings for Kubuntu (an
tell me what .config file is)?

Thanks

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel

2012-11-23 Thread Albert Pool
So far these types of Intel hardware are known to be affected:

Gen3: 915GM, 945G, 945GM, 945GSE (which is normally shown as GME in mesa), Q965
Gen4: 965GM
Gen6: Sandybridge

@madbiologist This problem also happens on non-hybrid machines. Quantal
randomly fails to load the X.org intel driver falling back to
modesetting or fbdev.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel

2012-11-21 Thread Albert Pool
I do not think this bug is related to hybrid graphics at all. So far at
Linux Mint we've had various reports of this on non-hybrid Intel
machines, mostly 915 and 945: but on those slower systems it is most
noticeable that llvmpipe is in use.

I'm experiencing this on an Intel 915GM laptop, without any nvidia card. And on
a Pentium M, llvmpipe is really slow.
I've also had a report from a 945G that this happened.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 992778] Re: Dual Monitor Freeze after changing Display Settings in ubuntu 12.04

2012-05-02 Thread Albert Damen
No, you cannot use the -intel package from 11.10, because it is build
for an older xserver version.

Xorg log says:
[  1010.456] BUG: triggered 'if (!dev-valuator || dev-valuator-numAxes  2)'

That suggests this is a duplicate of bug 921236. There success is
reported by downgrading xserver-xorg-input-evdev, with the version you
can find here:
https://launchpad.net/~sarvatt/+archive/sru1/+build/3118994

Can you give that a try?

2012-04-16 Thread Albert Pool
Ubuntu can't fix this, nvidia should do that.

In Natty the 96 package never got updated post-release even when nvidia
released compatible driver. PLEASE do update the Precise package
whenever a compatible driver turns up.

Also the Precise 173 driver is outdated. 173.14.31 has been released by
nvidia. Arch Linux already has this driver and it seems to be compatible
with recent software.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 957751] [NEW] touchpad interaction is lost on 11.10 laptop but USB external mouse works fine

2012-03-17 Thread Albert Vilella
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop usually working fine but every now and then I lose the
touchpad on the laptop, no clicking or anything, I have to plug a USB
mouse to be able to navigate around or reboot. This has happened
occasionally before and it works fine after reboot but would like to
investigate why it's happening.

I have this issue after uninstalling proprietary drivers. When running
with nvidia 280 it's fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 851947] Re: /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1 prevents Doom 3 from starting

2012-02-02 Thread Albert Pool
Uninstalling nvidia-current breaks this. So I guess the uninstall script
of nvidia-current is to blame as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met

2011-08-27 Thread Albert Pool
Oneiric gets X.Org 1.10 so as soon as the updated nvidia-96 hits the
main repo, the problem is gone for both Natty and Oneiric.

As soon as I get time to assemble a computer out of spare components, I
can try my Geforce4 Ti 4600 card to see if the natty-proposed package
works on it.

I tried to delete the xorg.conf and I was expecting that it
autogenerates a correct one (or that it automatically uses the correct
settings). I don't want to manually setup any xorg.conf. What am I
supposed to do?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798787] [NEW] libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental lacks 32-bit binaries for amd64

2011-06-17 Thread Albert Pool
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental

As far as I know, all drivers for amd64 contain proper 32-bit compatibility
binaries to run 32-bit programs.
Win32 programs in Wine, and Google Earth, which both run through ia32-libs on
amd64 systems, cannot use Nouveau 3D because the 32-bit driver files aren't
there.
But Nouveau 'experimental' amd64 does not contain any 32-bit binary, though the
Nouveau development team says that compiling with -m32 is possible.

This affects at least 10.10 and 11.04.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774978] Re: xserver seg'd [945GM]

2011-05-16 Thread Albert Damen
Marcelo, the record extension will still be loaded indeed. However, without
synaptics the extension is not activated.
You can check this by attaching gdb to Xorg (from a second pc) and setting a
breakpoint on RecordAReply. If the breakpoint is hit, record is active.
With synaptics installed (on a pc with a touchpad, so synaptics is actually
used) you will see the breakpoint is hit, without synaptics it is not hit.

Btw, my current fix/workaround is to build synaptics without record
support, by dropping the libxtst-dev build-dependency. This way the
touchpad is working properly and X does not crash.

In maverick I didn't see the RecordAReply calls at all. It turns out
these are enabled by xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in natty. After
removing xxi-synaptics I no longer see the RecordAReply calls and the
crash does not happen anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774978] Re: xserver seg'd [945GM]

2011-05-06 Thread Albert Damen
I have tried running X under strace, but no success. I couldn't
reproduce the crash, probably because X became too slow. Log file when
calibre was running was 5 GB.

I also tried xtrace and valgrind without luck. xtrace only showed what
calibre was doing. Valgrind shows errors, but only before and right
after login. Also, with valgrind I couldn't reproduce the crash, as X
was very slow again.

Then I enabled additional debugging in X by defining DEBUG_COMMUNICATION (in
os/io.c). I added the requestbuffer address, request name and event name to the
debugging output.
The attached log looks interesting to me. Right before the crash we see the
same requestbuffer is used by 2 different clients:

[ 11518.727] REQUEST: ClientIDX: 6, type: 0x89 data: 0xa len: 8 buffer:
0x7f3071065010 name: DRI2
[ 11518.729] REQUEST: ClientIDX: 32, type: 0x35 data: 0x18 len: 4 buffer:
0x7f3071065010 name: CreatePixmap
[ 11518.746] REPLY: ClientIDX: 6 buffer: 0x7f3071065010 Xreply: type: 0x1 data:
0xff len: 0 seq#: 0x1802
[ 11518.747] Segmentation fault at address 0x7f3071065010

(clientidx 32 is calibre, clientidx 6 is most likely compiz)

As RecordAReply uses the requestbuffer to find the details of the DRI2
request, this looks very suspicious to me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 776749] [NEW] xserver crashed with segfault in RecordAReply

2011-05-03 Thread Albert Damen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Xserver frequently crashes when I start calibre and switch between different
ebooks in the ebook list.
This crash is quite reproducible, about 80% of the times I run calibre. The
crash happens both in unity and in classic desktop session, but only when
compiz is active. When I switch of sync to vblank in compiz, the crash does not
happen.
Attached is a full stacktrace. It looks like the client does not have a
reference to the X request when the X reply is processed in RecordAReply.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 730278] Re: Xorg fails to start with fglrx in mult-monitor mode with right-rotated monitor

Thanks cdr.

I updated my driver with this PPA, I removed my workaround, rotate the
screen with the catalyst control center, saved and reboot.

It's just work now.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 730278] Re: Xorg fails to start with fglrx in mult-monitor mode with right-rotated monitor

2011-03-08 Thread Nicolas Albert
Same kind of behavior here :
 * Radeon HD 4670 [RV730XT]
 * Ubuntu 10.10 32bit
 * fglrx from Ubuntu
 * left screen 1920x1200
 * right screen 1280x1024

I can configure screen with the catalyst tool, with the right screen
rotate left. The result is apply directly but when I boot (or restart
Xorg) the computer is unresponsive (like a kernel panic), no keyboard,
no network (can't ssh access).

Then I save a conf with catalyst tool without rotation and reboot : it
works !

So my workaround is to push on the start of my gnome session the following
command :
xrandr --output DFP2 --rotate left

Thanks xrandr, I can dynamically rotate my screen and the result is
here.
