Absolutely. I believe it's an issue in upstream; I did spend a little time trying to investigate/recompile/figure out which set of changes removed/broke this functionality, but ran out of time. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1861756] Re: upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 issues due to colord / libsane issue
There were two issues: (1) mesa in focal has lower version than in releases, newer one stuck in proposed (2) ubuntu-release-upgrader did not check that the solution it picked at the end (after re-marking meta packages for upgrades) was actually valid. Public bug reported: Since i got a new laptop (ThinkPad L580) and installed Kubuntu 16.04.4 LTS with kernel 4.13.0-38-generic, i sometimes had to reboot so that the wifi interface showed up. Once it showed up it worked continuously for hours without an issue. When the update came to kernel 4.13.0-39-generic, it got worse. Now i have to reboot at least 5 times until my wifi interface shows up. Once it shows up it works continuously like on the previous kernel for the whole session but on next reboot the interface is missing again. It seems random whether the interface is loaded (or found) when booting. Don't know if this is an kernel issue but since it got lot worse right after the latest kernel update i assume so. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1724424] [NEW] Problem with video after suspending the machine and wake it up
Public bug reported: The bug I found is this, I suspend the machine, and when I wake it up, the display doesn't work correctly or doesn't display the video or things correctly. It looks like if I hadn't the display driver in that moment. It looks like with a wrong resolution, a lower resolution, things looks bigger... It happens all the times when I wake it up with the mouse. I've just wake it up with the keyboard and didn't happen, but it happens almost all the times... All the times when I did wake it up with the mouse. The display gets fixed after entering to the Display configurations or Appearance, by right-clicking on the desktop and entering to Change Wallpaper and it looks good after that, but displays some things wrong sometimes. But when entering to Appearance, the displays goes black and then it looks good. I don't know if the problem is with xorg, or with the display driver or related to another package. My OS is Ubuntu 16.04.03, my graphics card is a NVIDIA GT610 and I am using the proprietary driver of NVIDIA. Maybe in the picture attached you cannot see well the problem. I wanted to attached two images, but I can't. Let me know, if you need more information or if I can help with something. Thanks. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 287215] Re: xmodmap settings not getting honored when keyboard devices are hotplugged
I've been doing a little more investigating. I'm pretty sure this issue is this: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25262 So, if I understand this correctly, this won't/can't be fixed in X and has to be handled by your desktop environment. It does seem to me that there probably is a way to set the default rates/keymaps. If anyone knows what the canonical way to do that is, I'd love to know! ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #25262 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25262 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287215 Title: xmodmap settings not getting honored when keyboard devices are hotplugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/287215/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 287215] Re: xmodmap settings not getting honored when keyboard devices are hotplugged
I'm not running Ubuntu anymore, but I can confirm that this is a problem in Debian Stretch (and was an issue in Debian Jessie). I see similar behavior for keyboard rates set via `xset r rate`. Plugging in the USB keyboard resets the keyboard settings. Suspending while a USB keyboard is plugged in also resets the keyboard settings, though suspending without a USB keyboard attached doesn't. I suspect that whatever logic executes on plugging in the keyboard is also run on resume. For anyone looking for a workaround for mapping caps lock to escape, setting `XKBOPTIONS="caps:escape"` in `/etc/default/keyboard` (and rebooting) will do that reliably. That should work for anything that can be configured via `XKBOPTIONS`. As for the rate issue, I don't yet have a good workaround. I suspect a udev rule might do what I need, but that's also clearly a hack, so it would be nice to have a fix for this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287215 Title: xmodmap settings not getting honored when keyboard devices are hotplugged To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/287215/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1099115] Re: Can't change brightness while screen is locked
I'm affected too. Basically I'm trying to use physical volume knob of external USB DAC to manipulate the volume of the sound. But since the screen is locked the knob is not working.. till I unlock the screen. The things become even more frustrating when I use the Power settings and set Do nothing option when you close the lid of the laptop. However when I close the lid what's happen is lock the screen (it turns it off, which is OK) but it also disables the external control. It would be great if sound control is allowed while the screen is locked and also some of the FN+key controls. P.S. But after a period of time, it will hang if I adjust the brightness. Similarly, when I first boot I can logout and power down my laptop without issues, but after a time, if I attempt to log out or shutdown it hangs. I suspect these hangs are both related. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1077347] [NEW] Flash player videos have blue tint
Public bug reported: After installing Ubuntu 12.04 all flash player videos (e.g. Youtube) have a blue tint. The problem appears in both Seamonkey and Firefox Browser. Flash player is installed in version 11.2.202.251ubuntu0.12.04.1. All other video playing (VLC, Youtube with HTML5 directly in the browser...) works fine. I've tried various suggestions like mentioned in (http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/flashplayer-hat-nen- blaustich/#post-4221147) but they cause very serious instability of the flash plugin. It crashes nearly every time I open a web site containing flash. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1077347 Title: Flash player videos have blue tint To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1077347/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1073626] [NEW] Constant false gpu hang system alerts
Public bug reported: My system: I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit My system is a Macbook4.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz / 2GB RAM / GMA X3100 with 144MB shared memory / Intel HDA audio. The image I used for installing the system is Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit (AMD64) + MAC. The issue: Every time I log onto my session, a system program error dialog is displayed. (I'll try to translate as possible since my system is running in Spanish) · There's is a system program problem detected. Do you want to inform this now? I pick Yes, and then I've got to enter my password. Then, another dialog appears displaying the following message: · We're sorry. Ubuntu 12.10 has experienced an internal error. If you continue to have problems, try to restart the system. [marked checkbox] Send a bug report to help solve this issue. [*] Picking details it shows a long list of components wich start with the lines Executable path | /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error- intel.py Before I even pick the continue button, another system dialog pops up onscreen displaying the following message: · Apport has detected a possible GPU hang. Did your system recently lock up and/or require a hard reboot? Since neither of the two were needed, I pick No. Then, the system pop up another dialog: · Your display manager log files may help developers diagnose the bug, but may contain sensitive information such as your hostname. Do you want to include these logs in your bug report? I pick Yes. In the next Apport dialogue Would you be willing to do additional debugging work?, I pick Yes. Several minutes later, nothing happens yet. No other system dialogued showed up. I never did any debugging work as I choose to do. Meanwhile, the dialogue that displays the details of the internal error (in the line marked with [*] on this report), now has completed the list. It took more than two minutes to do. I mark the checkbox for Send a bug report to help solve this issue, and then I pick Continue. Nothing else ever happened. I don't even know if the bug was reported. This issue will happen again some time later, and so on, being really annoying.
