[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 761718] [NEW] Can't start Ubuntu default session properly

2011-04-15 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Public bug reported:

Installing the nvidia-current package doesn't allow to start the Ubuntu
default session properly. The gnome main bar crashes after some seconds
and even unity doesn't start completely freezing all the session. This
forces to restart gdm. I'm not completely sure this is related to the
nvidia-graphics-drivers source package. With the nouveau open source
nvidia drivers all works properly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 761718] Re: Can't start Ubuntu default session properly

2011-04-15 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Yes, I'm referring to the gnome desktop. To be precise, all the session
freezes and gdm has to be restarted. I can't run the classic Ubuntu
desktop (with effects). I can run the one without any effect but if I
run compiz in that session, that session freezes as well.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 677129] Re: Please merge xterm 266-1 (main) from debian unstable (main)

2010-11-25 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Hello Michael,

 1. xterm-266/debian/gbp.conf is modified but that is not documented in
the changelog

Seems this change was applied but never documented in the changelog

 2. The debian/changelog file also mentions:
Remove setgid bit from the xterm binary (LP: #616100)
but I can not find in the debdiff where that is done.
(the original debdiff is here for this bug is here:
 http://launchpadlibrarian.net/53489120/xterm_261-1ubuntu3.debdiff)

I can't find this change neither, I looked at the debdiff of the last
merge.

However I'm waiting for the Debian maintainer of xterm to release the
267 version, alternatively we can release the version 267-0ubuntu1 in
Ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576453] Re: Xorg cannot set a display resolution different than 800x600

2010-05-07 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Update: seems it's an error in Xorg, I can set the resolution 1024x768
but under the 1152x864 mode, so the mode 1024x768 will set the mode
800x600, the 1360x768 the mode 1152x864 .. But that caused the re-write
of the xorg.conf file by the NVIDIA X Server Settings and the moving of
all gnome applets (included trash).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576453] [NEW] Xorg cannot set a display resolution different than 800x600

2010-05-06 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

The display's resolution can't be set a resolution different than
800x600 also if Nvidia X Server Settings says it's set 1024x768. I
have tried many time to generate a new xorg.conf (using a generic
configuration, using a nvidia configuration) but has changed. I'm
running the current nvidia driver.

2010-04-28 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 456902] Re: [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in

2010-01-31 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
Brian Rogers, the command x11perf -range copywinpix10,comppixwin500 -time 1
-repeat 1 will freeze X, as shadetree as said. But it can freeze X in
generally, I have tried on a nvidia as video card and there's also the problem:
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G72 [GeForce 7500 LE]
(rev a1)
I think it's a generally problem of X.

robbielink, yes, it's a X's bug as shadatree and I said.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 456902] Re: [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in

2010-01-29 Thread Lorenzo De Liso
I have just tried with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.8.1-1, the system crashes on
boot, particularly, when gdm login starts.
I have disabled compiz and seems to work. With the driver
xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.4 seems there aren't problems, no crashs with this
driver. I have tried with ubuntu lucid lynx alpha 2 too and the
xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.8.1-1 driver crashs. with or without compiz, I'm
working on it.
