For those who still affected by this bug, please note that discussion in a Invalid bug tend to be IGNORED. This bug was set to "Invalid" due to this version of Ubuntu is no longer supported. To this point we're unable to know if it's fixed in between and broken again, or it's just not working from the beginning. Hello, for those who are affected by this bug on Trusty, as the fglrx version 2:15.200-0ubuntu0.3 has been pushed to -released [1]. You could now install the proprietary fglrx driver on your system, before doing this, make sure to update your software list with "sudo apt-get update" command in your terminal. I have verified this on 14.04.2 Trusty with stock Ubuntu image, fglrx (2:15.200-0ubuntu0.3) could be installed without any problem. I will mark the bug as Fix-released in Trusty, thanks. @Peter-and-Crazybear (crazybear) I just confirmed that this fix still in Trusty -proposed, not released to -released yet, so it's "Fix Committed" in Trusty Looks like it will be released soon. For those who don't want to wait, you can enable proposed (be aware that you might be running with the testing stage packages) in your Software Sources, and let it refresh the software list. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1384042] [NEW] Synaptic Touchpad 2-finger pinch / expand and 3 / 4-finger gestures are not supported on 14.04
Public bug reported: This is a summary bug, in order to avoid duplicated reports. For Synaptics touchpad, even if the touchpad is a multitouch-supported model, the following gestures are still not supported on 14.04 * 2-finger pinch / expand * 3-finger tap to move a window * 4-finger tap to open dash e.g. $ xinput list ⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointerid=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ ELAN Touchscreen id=10 [slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPadid=12 [slave pointer (2)] ⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3[master keyboard (2)] ↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=6[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Video Bus id=7[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Power Button id=8[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Integrated_Webcam_HD id=9[slave keyboard (3)] ↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=11 [slave keyboard (3)] ↳ Dell WMI hotkeys id=13 [slave keyboard (3)] $ xinput list-props "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" | grep Capabilities Synaptics Capabilities (320): 1, 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 1 For the 4th and the 5th "1", indicates that this touchpad supports two- finger and three-finger detection respectively. This issue could be traced back to bug 1294515, "mtdev was dropped: There are no touchpad drivers in the kernel tree that use protocol A, so using mtdev is just a computationally expensiv and memory-wasting noop." Note that 2-finger tapping should work as a right click, and 2-finger vertical / horizontal scrolling should work as expected too. ** Affects: libevdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Status: Confirmed ** Tags: 201308-14155 certification-grey multitouch-touchpad taipei-lab trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libevdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1384042 Title: Synaptic Touchpad 2-finger pinch / expand and 3 / 4-finger gestures are not supported on 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libevdev/+bug/1384042/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
