[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1829400] [NEW] screen loop after suspension
Public bug reported: Hello, I have a DELL PA-10 wtih GM965 intel graphic card. It couldn't boot with 4.15 kernel and I have to use 4.4.0. I'm using the default driver, I didn't find an other. The computer boot faster aplying this fix but I continue to have a problem with the suspension. After after a suspension the screen blink between two kind of blank screen and never start. Is there a solution for that? Hi, Thank you for your answers, I have an error msg till my login, and when I look on the software installed, I clearly have kernel 3.8.0.13 and it's the only one still on my computer. What is weird, is that oftent I have this msg coming from a crash from xserver.xorg.video.intel : Le problème concerne le programme /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py qui a changé depuis le plantage. which means that the prg apport-gpu-error-intel.py has changed till the crash. But it comes ever and ever again, even although I have restarted the computer, ... I have made no updates beetween two restarts, so apport-gpu-error-intel.py can't have changed. So is it everytime an old crash msg which comes back, although it has already been send, or is their an inconsistency beetween the apport-gpu really used and the name of the version stored somewhere ? I have reinstalled all apport and all xorg prgms with synaptic, and it still crashes and it still says that their have been a change in version of apport-gpu-error-intel.py till the crash. Soory, but just had a new error msg : Ce rapport d'anomalie fait référence à un logiciel qui n'est plus installé. (/usr/bin/python3.2mu) This report refer to asoftware that is no more installed. Is their a conflict beetween 12.10 and 13.04, went something not well during the upgrade? Just to let you kown that I made the upgrade for hoping to getrid of the xorg/apport pb. But it seems to continue. Reinstalling all 13.04 again? @ #144, I too lost my faith in Ubuntu. Every upgrade there is a new worse problem. I've tried installing new drivers or new kernels. PC is only usable via Ctrl+Alt+F2. I definitely switched to debian stable since one week. I realized with this bug that stability and ability to work is more important than getting the last fancy things. Bye bye Ubuntu. I've installed the 3.3.6 kernel, but still get the freeze as soon as I've been logged in. @#108, I've tried to follow instructions in #99, that is adding ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates. Only one package was updated : xserver-xorg-video-intel. Still freezing. I also tried to install fglrx that are proprietary drivers. Still freezing, both with kernel 3.2.0.24 and kernel 3.3.6. Now system looks more broken as message are over written during boot screens My mobo is GA-MA78G-DS3H, AMD 4850e, with integrated RS780 [Radeon HD 3200] from ATI Technologies Inc System is Ubuntu 12.04, only usable via Ctrl-Alt-F2 console. I have the same issue as Dustin. x201 on Ultrabase docking station, connected to a Samsung 225BW monitor. If I connect the laptop to my smallish 17 1280x1024 Sony, I manage to hook it up in dual display mode. But if I try to disable the laptop screen it fails with a black screen /cursor. So I can't really use it in single-screen mode on the docking station. If I connect the laptop to my widescreen Samsung 22, it directly goes to the parasited flashing screen effect. So it looks like there are two separate bugs, one of them being specific to large screens / Samsungs. I managed to get it kinda working. The flashing issue with the Samsung seemed to be in a stale monitors.xml file. Posting for reference: Boot laptop separate, then remove ~/.config/monitors.xml and /etc/gnome- settings-daemon/xrandr/monitors.xml Shutdown. Place laptop on Ultrabase. Boot, system comes up in cloned screens mode. gnome-display-properties, disable cloned mode, set monitor screen resolution, apply. We are now in dual head mode, with the unity launcher on the laptop screen. The only way to get it on the main screen seems to be to disable laptop screen. disable laptop screen, apply. The confirmation countdown apparently runs somewhere else and will revert your change in 30 seconds... unless you press apply again and confirm it.
