I know this will be out of topic, but for those who might follow this thread.. With the 3.10.0-031000rc1-generic kernel the Internet wired connection is not found, the eth0 doesn't exist and so You can connect only over wifi. The 3.5.0-28-generic is just fine :) .. with the wired and wifi connections. I'm afraid this test won't be any helpful, because the problem doesn't occur immediately. Sometimes it shows up straight away, but sometimes it pops up out of nowhere after month or so, that's why I takes me sooo long to post my result, I have been checking it under all possible circumstances that were problematic. I cannot run live distro all the time, and frankly I do not want to reinstall my machine now, when it is stable after so long time. If you want me to boot up the live distro and check if the mouse work, sure, I can do it. I also found a tread where someone suggested update the kernel above 3.4.8 so I updated the kernel to 3.6.2-030602-generic, but with no luck with that either... though I must say the problem occurs less often. Some people say it happens it has something to do with temperature,... or the fan .. because it happens quite often when they work in bed... it happens to me in such a cases more often then usual, though it might be just quincidence ..depends where we sit more often :) The temperature never went too high.. .. sorry for that #43 commit.. and eccident the story: even the keyboard has been slow .. I don't know why but I have unplugged the power supply and the mouse start working. I plugged it back it was okej for a while and plug it in and it affects the mouse. Unplug it went okej... I'm getting the feeling that there is something wrong in the hardware.
Let make a small overview when the problem occurs.
I started in the England in the cold house full of moisture. It happens when I
was working in the bed with computer on the blanket. Then it froze when I work
on the table in the room when the doors and window where open frequently.. but
generally the room has been cold. Sometimes not but mostly yes.
Back in Prague relatively normal weather and cozy in the house... no problem so
far for almost 2 months.
The weather goes down and so the heater is on all the time forcing me to close
and open the window often.
That time I realized that the mouse sort of reacts to it.
When the temperature suddenly changes {goes down} the mouse freezes. As I
wrote earlier the solution in most cases is to wait, a while or longer, then it
fixes it self.
It has been the same couple minutes ago I have started to write this post. The
computer was frozen, this time completely, so I rebooted it couple times
changing the kernel from rc4 to rc3.. no changes.. mouse in 99% unresponsive.
So I went ahead and did some keyboard tricks open the browser found this thread
and write this review As I'm writing the window closed the mouse started to
work again.
Let my summarize it a bit. The mouse frozen when the computer laid in the beat
the fan most likely covered the computer covered from many places by the
blanket .. in such a case the moisture comes up naturally.
Then in the kitchen with high moisture with heat on from time to time while
cooking or the heater was scheduled for.
And now while I'm opening the window it freezes again.
And also I have read many people mentioning that the problem occurs when they
where with the laptop in the bed.
What do you think of it?
(Btw the mouse is fine now :) .. took about 5-10 minutes to recover.)

Hello, :/ still no luck.. the mouse froze again. This time also keyboard went half useless. After 4 restarts the problem persists. What helps always is just wait and wait. Sometimes couple minutes sometimes way longer. That is my last report. (I went to google and there are many poeple suffering this problem too, many say it occurs after the upgrade to 12.04 I do not think that is the problem. If I remember right, nope. I have started with 12.04. Remember the problem occurs on many distors I have tried, it is not a problem of the Ubuntu exclusively. bad news, the mouse start to freeze again. Both touchpad and external mouse, which has been stable for couple months. Still same story, it start to freeze for no reason in the middle of the session. The restart doesn't help. The mouse unfreezes after some time about an half an hour or so, I can't say exactly. The mouse does not freezes, for now. I must say that I have been out of the house and used the touchpad for 3 days before the BIOS update and it did not freeze either. I do system updates every time they show up, so some of it might solved the problem already... if it is really solved. I use the computer most of the time with external keyboard and mouse, which work grate without problem... The mouse is connected through the keyboard. hello I have updated the bios to 2.07 (The bios have no new settings according to any pointing device, and I hove not noticed any new settings) After couple restarts the mouse seams OK... but I haven't use it for more then couple minutes yet. This feature is not found on Xubuntu, but Ubuntu. I played bit with the settings, nothing helped so far. I also tried use sudo modprobe -r psmouse which seams to help a bit from time to time, but not always.. Sometimes the mouse is unlocked from the total freeze to a shaky slow moves. But because this command helps only for touchpads and not external devices, it is not much of use.. It doesn't solve the problem completely anyway. I found the advice here: http://xpapad.wordpress.com/2009/09/09/dealing-with-mouse-and-touchpad-freezes-in-linux/ (I got the same errors in log as he mentioned in his post.) I also tried disable the touchpad by: xinput -set-prop 'Virtual core XTEST pointer' 'Device Enabled' 0 This loges me out of session in an instant. I also found a tread where someone suggested update the kernel above 3.4.8 so I updated the kernel to 3.6.2-030602-generic, but with no luck with that either... though I must say the problem occurs less often. Some people say it happens it has something to do with temperature,... or the fan .. because it happens quite often when they work in bed... it happens to me in such a cases more often then usual, though it might be just quincidence ..depends where we sit more often :) The temperature never went too high.. I think.. it is always about 44-60C - Solution: I have not found any way how to solve this problem, The restart won't help either. This time with the kernel 3.7.0-030700rc2 it was even worst then before. It works for a while (about an hour-two) then it freezes again. After the restart the whole X session becomes unresponsive, second restart the same. Now I'm back on the 3.6.2-030602-generic (this kernel change solved the issue for now).
