Hi Daniel

 Sorry for a very long answer.

/me too

 I don't have a file /usr/share/applications/tuxcmd.desktop

 I use latest ubuntu and installed tuxcmd package from repository.

 Forthermore, there is no tuxcmd-modules package in repository. This
 package is very importand, because contains functionality to work with
 archives, ftp, etc

This is fixed in the karmic version of tuxcmd. In karmic furthermore
ther is tuxcmd-modules too.

No change in Grub2 : I have already install Ubuntu 9.10 for a first
install on Ubuntu (not an update) with the option 'install on a new

And after the install, on Grub2 Menu, it was only showing Ubuntu boot,

[Bug 473905] [NEW] Xsupplicant authentication doesn't work, when woken from Hibernation

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xsupplicant

when a hardy system is brought back up from Hibernation, xsupplicant
status shows as authenticated, but authentication doesn't seem to be

Public bug reported:

Greetings.

Everytime I pass an executable to ddd I get a weird message dialogue:
Title - DDD: No Source
Content - /home/sysdeps/i386/elf/start.S: No such file or directory

This occurs in Jaunty.

Thanks!

Re: [Bug 414399] Re: wifi-radar crashed with SyntaxError in read()

2009-11-04 Thread Shawn Stewart
Thank you for your reply. I have deleted the config file and restarted WR
and it starts fine; however, I haven't tested to see if it will receive
anything yet, as I'm plugged directly into a wired modem. That's okay at
present, since I istalled WR for when I do not have that option. It worked
great when I installed it, so I have no complaints. You folks have done a
great job. Thanks again for the reply.

  While you are correct that the particular error (SyntaxError in read())
 can be fixed by your change, other things in the config file have been
 re-organized and WR 1.9.9 config files are not read correctly by WR
 2.0.s05.

  Because this error message indicates that no AP profiles are configured,
 it should be safe to delete the file. If you want to be extra cautious,
 move the old config file to a new location and restart WiFi Radar.

[Bug 464516] Re: [i945GME] LVDS output is not shown in Xorg.log or xrandr

2009-11-04 Thread karlkiste
Using the nomodeset option enables the LVDS output and makes it appear
in xrandr.

As usually people who connect LVDS-displays which do not use EDID or the
like should know what they are doing, a documented switch might suffice
for this case.

[Bug 455857] Re: spring segfaults after starting a game in karmic

2009-11-04 Thread James Liggett
Ok, I just did some tests and found out something very weird:

On a hunch that it might be a problem specific to our systems, I tried
installing a fresh copy of Karmic in VirtualBox. I then installed Spring
from the stock repos. It actually ran! Well, it ran poorly, as you might
expect, but it worked, and didn't crash. I tried with both single player
and multiplayer; both worked in the VM.

So, what could the problem be?

[Bug 473949] [NEW] Holded 2.4 version prevents graphics driver upgrading

2009-11-04 Thread Tomas Teijeiro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Due to Intel graphics cards performance issues in Jaunty
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/IntelPerformance), a commonly
used workaround was to revert driver version to 2.4 and hold it. The
problem is that if you upgrade to Karmic, holded driver is not upgraded,
and software rasterizer is used as renderer. I think this package should
be automatically unholded and upgraded.

 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 438000] Re: [i945gm] [karmic] X servers hangs when settings up dual monitor config

2009-11-04 Thread jpiesing
I've been doing some more testing on the Dell D420 referred to in #14.
If I boot with the 2nd monitor connected, the system starts with the displayed
mirrored.
I can then use system / preferences / display to make the displays different.
If I unplug the monitor, I can use system / preferences / display to reset it
back to a single display and it works.
If I then plug-in the monitor again, the display hangs in the same way as if
the laptop was booted without a second display connected. Both primary and
secondary screens are blank except for a stationary cursor on the secondary
monitor.

If I switch to metacity as described in this thread, dual screens just
work.

[Bug 473952] [NEW] X freezes when connecting external monitor

2009-11-04 Thread Dennis van Dok
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

When I connect an external monitor while being logged in, and
subsequently trying to use it, either by pressing f7 or running xrandr
or opening system - preferences - display, the displays freeze.

I can still remotely log in (via ssh) and look around; however, I could
not kill the X server even with SIGKILL nor make a core dump.

I'm including the Xorg.0.log, which ends at the time of the freeze. Also
included is a snippet of kern.log that may be relevant, and the output
of lsof for the X process.

[Bug 341819] Re: vlc has crackling sound after standard installation

2009-11-04 Thread Christian Göbel
In Ubuntu 9.10 the reported problem with respect to the dependencies has been
resolved.
When installing VLC via the Ubuntu Software Center the required package
vlc-plugin-pulse is automatically installed.
Therefore I will close the bug. If there are remaining problems with sound this
should probably reported in a new bug report.
Thanks a lot for fixing this issue!

[Bug 223825] Re: aiccu init.d script will race dhclient (upstart issue?)

2009-11-04 Thread Lars Düsing
1. aiccu won't work for any dhcp-using and/or wlan users, because aiccu will
not wait until networking is up.
2. Bug is addressed by using upstart on net-device-up / on
net-device-down-handlers.
3. patch is in comment #24
4. TEST CASE: install aiccu on a system which uses dhcp to get IP-adresses.
aiccu runs. Reboot. aiccu starts, won't find tunnel-broker and stops then.
5. I'm not aware on any regressions. Except maybe if a user gets ubuntu running
without upstart. There is a problem as described in comment #21. But this is in
my opinion a rare case.

[Bug 310882] Re: fop warning: SEVERE: Couldn't find hyphenation pattern en (missing fop-hyph package)

2009-11-04 Thread Jerzy Jalocha N
Onkar, according to the documentation: All files hosted by the OFFO
project come with an OSI-approved Open Source license, or were placed in
the Public Domain by their authors. [1]

Thus, I guess, it should be OK to package them for Debian/Ubuntu. This
would be of great help to us end-users, as I have been struggling for
hours trying to get FOP to read the OFFO patterns, without success.

[Bug 454554] Re: Brasero does not detect new disc if you want to burn another disc

2009-11-04 Thread Ernst
Pedro, your command does nothing; I guess this command should be:
brasero --brasero-burn-debug --brasero-media-debug  brasero-debug.txt; ?

Furthermore, I tried to reproduce the problem with two cd-rw discs.
However, I did not succeed in reproducing. This could be, because
brasero treats rewritables differently as non-rewritables. As soon as I
clicked 'burn another disc', it asked to blank the (just burned) rw.

The 'VOLUME IDENTIFIER' was the label of the burned disc. As soon as I
have to burn multiple DVD-R's again, I will report back.

[Bug 456266] Re: file icon handler doesn't remember the file association

2009-11-04 Thread baltasarq
I had the very same problem.

Actualy digging and digging and digging in a lot of forums, I found that
the error has to do with pcmanfm. The file manager is broken, and even
if your mime-types are updated, it will not recognise *any* file
(pcmanfm does also manage the desktop).

The solution I found was to download version 0.5.2 from:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pcmanfm/

And compile it. It is necessary to install various development packages
(hal, hal-storage, gain...) through Synaptic.

$ ./configure
$ make

It will complain about a missing '\n' in the translation file ca.po. cd
into po and enter the command:

$ pico +298 ca.po

In the previous line, add a '\n' before the last ''.

$ cd ..
$ make
$ make install
$ cd /usr/bin
$ sudo ln -fs /usr/local/bin/pcmanfm
$ killall pcmanfm

Press [Windows]+R and type: pcmanfm -d

Everything should work now.

The obvious fix to this error is to upgrade package in Ubuntu.

[Bug 256246] Re: The Desktop Pager Plugin Settings does not work

2009-11-04 Thread baltasarq
I'm using Ubuntu Karmic Koala.

I have lxpanel 0.5.3 installed, and it is confirmed that the settings
page of the desktop pager are disabled. I can also confirm that you
can configure the number of virtual desktops using Menu Preferences
 Openbox configuration menu.

BUG:
Anyway, the desktop pager is buggy. When you change to another desktop, lxpanel
losts focus, and you have to click in another icon of the bar in order to give
it focus again. This means that, after changing the page, if you want to select
an icon you'll to click it two times. If you want to change to another desktop,
and then to another one, you won't be able to do it unless you click another
icon, then click again in the desktop pager inside the desktop you want.
Under these conditions, it is better to use Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right in order to
change desktops.

[Bug 474086] [NEW] lxmusic does not work correctly

2009-11-04 Thread baltasarq
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lxde-common

This is happening in Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic-koala with lxmusic 0.4.0.
Apparently, this is the last version for this package, so I didn't tried
installing from sources.

$ apt-cache policy lxmusic
lxmusic:
  Installed: 0.4.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 0.4.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 0.4.0-0ubuntu1 0
500 http://mirror.ousli.org karmic/universe Packages

Summary: LXMusic never reproduces *anything*

How to reproduce: click in the Playlists menu Add to current playlist
add files or folders
Then you choose your favorite mp3 folder.
lxmusic then walks all over the subfolders of that folder you chose (it updates
its main window section for the list of songs while doing this).
After the process ends, the music list is again totally empty, and there is no
way to make it play anything. It does not matter whether you create another
playlist or use the default one.

[Bug 473406] Re: conky crashes on login

2009-11-04 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
Can you type these commands in a shell and report here the outputs:

apt-cache policy conky
apt-cache policy conky-all
conky -v

I assume you launch conky with a script and some amount of delay already?
If so, does increasing the delay solve your problem?
If not try with this script:

#!/bin/bash
sleep 60  conky;

Play with the delay (60 can be too much or not enough, depending on your
system) until you get an acceptable result.

** Changed in: conky (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Incomplete
