Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] optware squeezecenter ipk for NAS
Brian, Thanks for your tips on using Squeezecenter IPKG. I have loaded Squeezecenter 7.2 onto a Buffalo LinkStation Live using IPKG (with JTYMOD firmware). Squeezecenter runs, but scanning the music library does not locate any of my songs. I have checked multiple times that the path to the library is correct. And inside the Squeezecenter web interface, I can browse to Music Folder and see all the albums and songs. If I select an album or song from the Music Folder there, it then appears in the library. So the problem appears to be scanning. My music is in untagged WAV files, but I have tested fully tagged MP3 files in the music library and the result is the same. If I manually initiate a full rescan, I get this in the log: [08-12-16 06:38:39.5030] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1800) Error: While trying to run function coderef Slim::Control::Commands::wipecacheCommand]: [Transactions not supported by database at /opt/share/squeezecenter/Slim/Music/Import.pm line 279.] [08-12-16 06:38:40.0409] Slim::Control::Request::notify (1976) Error: Failed notify: Transactions not supported by database at /opt/share/squeezecenter/Slim/Schema/Playlist.pm line 35. I also own a LinkStation Pro that I have loaded with Squeezecenter 7.2 using a full FreeLink installation. That unit scans the music library fine. Any idea what's going on with the IPKG installed unit? -- TiredLegs TiredLegs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=52466 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] SqueezePlay build
Well I just checked out the source from SVN and built it on my Fedora 10 box without any issues. There are a few oddities with the screen when it runs, but nothing that prevents use. I have limited RPM building skills. I've created them for a few of my own projects in the past which are mainly perl things. I wouldn't know where to begin here unfortunately as I've no idea what the dependencies were for building or what they would be for running. I'm willing to give it a go, however, if someone can assist with the requirements on the build/running side. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 7.3 and the new convert-conf file format...
Thanks everybody - I have my m4a's playing again. It required a slightly different approach from the one documented in the Wiki. I do have 2 files in my /etc/squeezecenter directory for conversion: (1) the standard convert.conf from 7.3 (I noticed it had been downloaded, only with a different name) (2) the custom-convert.conf file which contains the simple entries # Transcoding for AAC files. # SC 7.3+ mov flc * * # F [faad] -w -f 2 $FILE$ | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --compression-level-0 --endian little --sign signed --channels 2 --bps 16 --sample-rate 44100 - mov mp3 * * # FB:{BITRATE=-B %B} [faad] -w -f 2 $FILE$ | [lame] --resample 44100 --silent -q $QUALITY$ $BITRATE$ -r - - mov wav * * # F [faad] -w -f 2 $FILE$ My system, a clean 7.2 install on Ubuntu 8.10, does not have a /usr/local/squeezecenter/ directory. Given the entry in the Wiki, I briefly considered creating one, but tried the approach of creating the file in the existing directory first. Should the wiki be updated with this info? Also, the installation process for Linux perhaps should tell users that their convert.conf file *must* be converted to the new format (as opposed to offering it as optional), and point them to the Wiki to re-create m4a playability. Then again, perhaps this never affected those who went for the custom-convert.conf approach to begin with? I would now greaty recommend people use the custom file, as opposed to editing the convert.conf file (as I had done). [SlimDevices: Unix] Installing and Maintaining SqueezePlay with SVN
I'm slowly learning what SVN is (google -help pages and so). I've found most of the commands an end user will need (not dev i'm not likely to ci things are add or things). svn co (checkout). svn st (status). svn up (update). I install subversion first, $ sudo apt-get install subversion Then i do this (for example): svn co http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.3/trunk/squeezeplay I'm doing this on an ubuntu 8.04 desktop. svn will then create a ../squeezeplay/src in the current users home folder if i later do svn up from within /squeezeplay then svn updates my source files to current status. Then I fix and apt-get all other stuff needed to make i work on ubuntu. as stated in the REAME.linux file and in the link in the wiki http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezePlayOnUbuntu710 And via synaptic install additional portaudio packages that is needed but not mentioned anywhere. see my post here: Post nr 5 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56313 Now I'm ready to run the make file, and now I have Questions. I cd to /squeezeplay/src and run make from there $ make -f Makefile.linux Q.1 should I run make from here ? Then make is building a directory /squeezeplay/build/linux and so on. I find my jive (squeezeplay) here /squeezeplay/build/linux/bin . I find it , makes me launcher on my desktop provides it with one of the icons from the source (so it loks better ) Q.2 squeezeplay is now built inside my local svn repo is this right ? because now i get a lot ? when running svn status. Q.3 can the /build dir be somewhere else ? Q.4 jive is now owned by the user that created it, it is read only for other users, does that mean that other users can run the application ? should one do something more to provide jive for more users ? Q.5 obviously jive runs under a user account that user must log in and start jive, is there other options ? whats the equivalent of a service in linux (daemon ?) Now upgrading, updating from svn was a breeze svn up ok. Q.6 do I need to remove /build before running the make file again ? It seems like make is smart enough to update the installation ? Q.7 can i keep the hidden .squeezeplay folder that contains my settings /mikael -- Mnyb Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56638 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
