This change introduces a regression; breaks search for radio stations. I
can't understand the code well enough to say why, though. I am hoping
Michael can help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on Wandboard with Community Squeeze OS R3 - Looking for starter guide

2013-05-19 Thread gregb

Your "starter guide" notes helped - I have successfully booted, set
timezone, mounted the server (manual and auto), configured LMS and
scanned library, and streamed music to a squeezebox via hard wired
network interface. Most excellent.

I'm looking for WiFi setup hints to access to LMS on Wandboard via
wireless. I want Wandboard to remain hard wired Ethernet to server (and
squeezeboxes), and allow iPad WiFi access to LMS web interface on
Wandboard. Essentially, the Wandboard provides a standalone wireless
access point.

Thanks, gregb

I had a couple of issues starting squeezelite under CentOS without
logging onto the Gnome desktop, so I ditched CentOS and spun up a 32bit
Debian VM with 512MB ram. The only thing I needed to do was a "apt-get
install libasound2 alsa-utils alsa-oss", and then run up "alsamxer" and
press m (to unmute) on the Master and PCM and push the volume of both
Master and PCM up to 100. Then "alsactl store" to save the settings
across reboots. I created a squeezelite start up based on this;
http://linux.freethenoise.com/logitechmediaserver/

and now everything is working as expected. I copied the VM to another 2
machines and adjusted the sound cards on each one and now they appear to
all be workingh fine! thanks for a great thread!

Clive,
Good news here! I re-installed the latest version of LMS and everything
is working like a charm. So happy now ;)

Clive,

I have updated the LogitechMediaServer
(logitechmediaserver-7.8.0-0.23.20130518git1368712274) and I don't know
whether it is a coincidence or not but now I can't visualise correctly
the LMS Settings page as per the attached screenshot. I would appreciate

Well, none if you are happy with the "Community" kernel. If you wanted
to apply your own patches or enable options that are not enabled by
default in the "Community" kernel, the src rpm package provides a
convenient start point, without having to pull the git kernel source
yourself, get the patch set we are currently using from another
location, and put it all together.

>From my own personal "open source" point of view, I don't like the
concept of distributing open source binary software without the
corresponding src package, (including build scripts, which in this case
is the spec file contained in the src rpm), that allows a user to build
the package themselves and end up with exactly the same binary, built
with the same options and features as the "Community" provided binary
package.

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but what would be the reason(s)

I was also thinking along the same lines as I had similar sync issues
until today.
Today I ran up Vmware workstation on a win7 pc and spun up a 1gb ram
Centos 6.4 vm and ran squeezelite under linux. I was staggered when 2
seperate linux vms on separate win7 pcs synced perfectly and kept in
sync. I had to start each virtualised squeezelite client up with a "-a
1000:8" parameter to prevent audio break up, but after that it was
great. I'll run some more tests but it looks like virtualised linux is a
go as a squeezeclient. It did make me wonder if it was technically
possible to compile squeezelite under cygwin for an easier and more
reliable experience under windows.

Hi Clive,

I have noticed that if I power my DAC on soon after powering the
wandboard on, the Squeezelite service gets dead and I have to restart
the service from the CSOS Web Configuration to get it up and running. To
