Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce: Squeezelite - a small headless squeezeplay emulator for linux (alsa only)
I'm still struggling to get 3 instances of squeezelight working on the same computer. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCoPlayer = Squeezelite on Microcore linux. .An embedded OS in RAM with Squeezelite
Got my RPI rev B in the mail today and got it set up (great instructions, didn't take long to get up and running). I have the player showing up in my LMS now but when I hook it up to my receiver (Pioneer SC-77) via HDMI I get terrible distortion and it sounds like it's playing at about 1/2 speed or less. It does this on a few FLAC files I tried (I think all just standard redbook CD rips) and then also Pandora and Rhapsody streams. Any ideas? Is there a setting that I need to set up on my LMS for this player as well? Howard, Great info...thanks for the email you sent as well as sharing your info with the forum. I may pick one up...since I know it will work based on your feedback...I just wish the the antenna was removable as I would love to keep the usb adapter in my enclosure and then mount a connector to the outside of the box for the antenna. I am anxious to hear from anyone else who had a detachable antenna. Thanks! I connected it to my Xfinity router and my Trendnet, both on the first floor of my home, but at different ends. For some reason when I tried to switch from any other SSID to XFINITY, I had to reboot the RPI. I coud switch from any other SSID including XFINITYWIFI, but not XFINITY. Anyway, below are the results I got. Just to give you an idea, I live in a 2300 sq ft Colonial style home. It's probably 34 linear feet from the xfinity router to the floor below where the RPI was for the diagonal test. I have no idea what the angle is to calculate the footage. There are 3 wireless routers in my house and anywhere from 5 to 15 wireless devices running at any time and lots of other RI from lots of sources. I know this isn't very technical, but it may give you an idea if the LB-Link BL-LW05-AR5 will work for you. Thanks for the tenba model. I may have used the wrong antenna connector type in my message not sure about the difference between a SMB and a SMA connector...just looking for something detachable for the purposes of mounting it to an enclosure. Here is a link to the model I referenced...wish I knew is this chipset is supported in picoreplayer. http://http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166056 seaverd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62506 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97803 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

High Def music files are a waste of disk space and processing cycles, so I am quite happy to stick to 16/44.1 Red Book as long as it can decode the file format. I find it frustrating there is so much concentration on high definition when the BIG issue is increasing the availability of uncompressed formats (FLAC, ALAC and WMA lossless) as well as less compression / better mastering of CDs. I looking to get better reception while using my picoreplayer in the backyard. I am currently using the edimax 7811 nano wifi adapter. In looking at the main picoreplayer website, there is a listing of wifi adapters that people have successfully used. Being a linux newbie, my question is, are only certain wifi adapters supported, or is it that specific chipsets are supported? If it is chipsets, is there a listing of chipsets that work? I am trying to find a usb wifi adapter that has a SMB connector for an external antenna. I was considering the Rosewill RNX-N180UBE, but it does not show up on picoreplayer's website. This adapter uses the Realtek Wireless LAN RTL8191SU for its chipset...do you think this will be supported? The only wifi adapter on the list that has an external antenna is this one: LB-Link BL-LW05-AR5150mps 5dbi antenna but this is not a well known name and the antenna connector does not appear to be SMB (looks a little weak). Any suggestions for an external antenna wifi adapter that will work with picoreplayer will be greatly appreciated!
