Yes, I know but for test my services, I use root user, for the moment i
don't need a security, it's the reason.

On my rPI i use root user (for LMS and squeezelite) and all worked but
on my intel board i have the problem of input/output. And i don't know
why

AFAIK, this is Audiophonics newest DAC. I have one and it works fine. My
question is regarding alsamixer integration. Selecting "F6" in the
alsamixer menu displays -*snd_rpi_hifiberry_dac*-, when I select it
however, I get the following message: "THIS SOUND DEVICE DOES NOT HAVE

Is this normal behavior? My two IQaudIO dacs do allow for alsamixer

I have established on the iPlayer thread that Triode last posted the
same day JackOfAll dropped the Community Squeeze legal bombshell on
JohnSwenson (when he popped up and said the hardware project was still
on). This may be conincidence, but given how active Triode was before I
fear not. If this is the case, CommunitySqueeze is one of the most
damaging things to happen to the SqueezeBox since Logitech dropped it.

[SlimDevices: Unix] LMS on remote Server

2015-03-01 Thread micha_muc

hi all,

I am running several SB / Logitech devices since a couple of years
without any problems and I am absoluty happy :-) Thanks to all to make
tha happen!

Now I want to move my LMS (7.7.3) to a Linux server (Debian based),
hosted outside my home by a provider specialized on that. Reason: My NAS
is quite old and i want to get rid of the moisy box ;-). The standard
installation runs smothly, no problems with that.

But I didn't found a way to connect my devices securely (e.g. encrypred
data and/or password) to avoid, that my music lib can be found elsewhere
in the net ;-) VPN is currently not a solution because my router does
not support that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any hints!

2015-03-01 Thread 123pi

Hello,
I am considering to get an RPI A+ as a PiCoreplayer with WLAN/ Wifi, but
am confused how to install the Wifi adapter.
The installation instructions for PiCoreplayer demand to connect to LAN
in order to make changes to the settings. The RPI models A and A+ do not
have a LAN connector.

The only way that I can think of is installing PiCoreplayer on a Model B
first, make the changes and then transfer the SD card to the model A.
Unfortunately I do not know anyone with a Raspberry Pi and I am not
Linux person.

Any other ideas ? B.t.W.: Searching this thread did not work for me.

I've been wondering where Adrian is. I hope all is well with him.

I think he knew all about the legal issues Clive was happening, and SoA
was designed to avoid hosting binaries in order to get around that
problem, so unless the legal issues have a wider reach I would be
surprised if that's the issue at hand.

I did wonder if he was holidaying somewhere, but he has been off the

Thanks to him I have high-res music all around the house, synchronised,
and without running any Logitech hardware anymore.

You can connect a display and keyboard to config, it's described on the
picoreplayer how-to webpage (at the end of the page).

Wouldn't you be better buying a Raspberry Pi B or B+? Setup is pretty
easy with those...I use one USB for the WiFi adapter, the other to
connect to the DAC. The model A/A+ has only a single USB port.

I also have a model 2 (currently running Volumio with Squeezelite)
awaiting the new version of PiCorePlayer, which I think is imminent.

I have two applications in mind where power and size matter: A semi
