Hi, In my battery driven, wifi-only usage scenario I am having good results when I disable usb and ethernet with: echo '1-1' | sudo tee /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb/unbind ethernet is supposedly a power hog and indeed I am measuring both cool temperatures (36C) and longer battery life with eth0 and usb down. Ive just read your post in the other thread, where you state that you are using the official RPI display (which? The 7?). If so, I think that this is a completely different story, the 7 display for example is connected with a ribbon type cable to dedicated connectors of the Raspi, not via the GPIO pins. So its not very probable that the calibration process described for the 3.5 waveshare display which you are trying to use will work. To be honest, I cant remember whether I had to calibrate my official RPI 7 display when I started using it, but I dont think so. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] picoreplayer 3.11 +waveshare 3.5 TFT + jivelite + Raspberry Pi 2B+
hi wl1, All the pCP developers use the "official" Raspberry Pi screen, so you should expect perfect results. I recommend you restart from scratch. 1. Burn new pCP image on SD card. 2. Go to [ Tweaks ] > [ Jivelite Setup ] > [ Install ] 3a. If prompted, expand SD card. (100 MB will be enough, wait till it reboots a couple of times) 3b. Go to [ Tweaks ] > [ Jivelite Setup ] > [ Install ] (yes again, it didn't install before) On Jivelite screen: 4. Select Language 5. Select Grid Skin (800 x 480) ( or Joggler) Note: If you select some weird resolution you may end up with unusual results. People sometimes forget to come back and do Step 3b. I can see the slightly illogical installation process. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107366 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Thanks, Hi. I notice that you mention the Official RPi Display. When you are using this display you simply need to attach it and then enable Jivelite. This screen is working fine directly "out of the box" with pCP. The touch function is already calibrated. So there is really no need for you to mess with these commands and scripts etc. This is the official screen: https://www.modmypi.com/pis-and-peripherals-1139/raspberry-pi-7-touchscreen-display-official - and it is the only screen that is officially supported by pCP. I had excellent luck by using a dual (or more) output USB power supply with separate cables for the display and the pi. I have a 7" screen, RPI3 and HiFiBerry RCA DAC with no issue. The power supply I am using came from Amazon and it is a Ravpower 4 port travel wall charger with 2.4a capable output on each port, 8 amp total. I use one cable to the pi and DAC and one to the 7" display. This was after a lot of trial and disappointment on supposedly 3 amp power supplies. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Announce piCorePlayer 3.20
I hope I am in the right thread First off - piCorePlayer - installation went great, my second use of RPi (with Display) for a Boom Box style DIY Player.(the first use being as a LMS Server with USB HDD). Thanks to all contributors. One of the remaining issues I am working through - is the calibration of the screen. I followed the instructions from http://www.pughx2.com/picore320.html and get an error - "Open fbdevice: no such file or error" 24491 I have no experience here - so I am likely missing something simple.everything else went really well :-) Any pointers would be appreciated. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Pi or Pi Zero for player?
Imho the only products that make sense are the pi zero w and the pi 3. The pi zero w adds comms capabilities and the pi 3 costs the same as a pi 2 (if you can still get one). By the time you factor the cost of a PSU, SD card, case, and whatever accessories you need the saving between different pi models looks pretty pathetic. >From a power budget POV the pi 3 has higher CPU headroom and can consume more but it's still pretty efficient when idle. And I much prefer the built in Ethernet n the full size pi rather than a double dongle on a usb on the go adapter. -Transcoded from Matt's brain by Tapatalk- -- Hardware: 3x Touch, 1x Radio, 2x Receivers, 1 HP Microserver NAS with Debian+LMS 7.9.0 Music: ~1300 CDs, as 450 GB of 16/44k FLACs. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Pi or Pi Zero for player?
I have a Pi Zero that I was going to use with a USB HiFiMe Sabre DAC as a minimal size player. I can't get the USB DAC to work for love nor money. However it works out of the box with a Pi3 so on that basis I'd opt for a Pi3. I've used it now for a Stretch image, and when trying to make an image, creation fails at 47%, too. I've used other cards now for PCP, and everything works fine. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Pi or Pi Zero for player?
What's the best option for a player only (no LMS) and ethernet connectivity (no Wifi) to stream flacs? I like the much lower power consumption of the zero but by the time I add a USB-to-ethernet adapter will I be at the same price and power as a Pi2? Or for the same price as the Pi2 should I just go Pi3? Not sure yet about amp hat vs separate amp, there will probably be some of each. thanks Greg gregklanderman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3524 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108666 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
