Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Store files permanently on piCorePlayer
I've dipped in and out of this thread over the months (!), and I wonder if the LMS setup that I travel with might be another solution. Following a post from several years ago, I set up LMS on a WiFi enabled Western Digital 2Tb hard drive. This has two WiFi cards, so it sets its own network up and can connect to an external network too. It has a battery, so it will run for a short period off the mains. I keep a copy of my music collection on this drive. With this, I can run any player (or a number of players) - a tablet or phone with appropriate software, or a Squeezebox, or a raspberry Pi based device (I use piCorePlayer). At work I use a model 3 Pi winerally play through a tablet and headphones. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Store files permanently on piCorePlayer
I use a dedicated charger, and some switching relays. And separate buck converter.Im also only powering an old model A with usb WiFi. That all in one board is nice, but it made me nervous when it smoked. They replaced it under warranty, but kinda blamed me for shorting it.which Im pretty sure I didnt do. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Is there another UPS controller that you know of that will run on wall power when plugged in, charge the battery and then run off battery power? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Store files permanently on piCorePlayer
I took a break from the software and operating system stuff to work on the custom hardware needed to go inside this beast, as one guy described. I had to learn to solder very small stuff including board soldering. After watching several YouTube videos, I tried my had at it today. I was surprised that it wasnt as difficult as I feared. I was able to get all the way to doing a plugs out test, running the PiPod with a test data cable for touch screen control and internal power with an Adafruit power controller and LiPo battery. It worked, on the battery, played music and no low power indications! Woot. :D 27592 +---+ |Filename: 4CAE8BD1-4482-4156-83BC-82F50D1DD0FD.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=27592| +---+ AirFiero's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69090 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106833 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer 5.0.0 and finding the IP
No we don't use MDNS. 1) Check the information tab of your LMS server, it will show IP's 2) Use a tool like angry ip scanner. https://angryip.org/ piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. [SlimDevices: Unix] PiCorePlayer 5.0.0 and finding the IP
I've used nmap and mdns (avahi) to find pi's before, but I can't seem to do this with picoreplayer. Is there something I'm missing? It doesn't look like the picoreplayer tinycore image is running any mdns? or if it is what is the type I should be searching for? Just guessing since this is not really familiar territory but I think the reason maybe because the M.2 card is seen as 'sda1' and the script [FS Resize] probably expects to see a memory card on 'mmcblk0p2'. Write or wrong, setting it up on an SD card then using dd to clone it to the M.2 worked so I am at least up and running again now. Reporting back that I updated to piCorePlayer 5.0.1 last weekend and this issue with Spotty seems to be resolved here. Good work and thanks for all the developers' efforts in keeping this platform alive. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 5.0.0
Hello all, has anyone experienced underclocking of their Pi so that the clock matches an easily dividable rate for the known frequencies of 44.1 and 48 KHz? What happens if we run the Pi at *1, 083 801 6 GHz? (that's 44.1*48*2^9 Khz) Is that achievable? Would it solve the jitter issue of the Pi or am I dreaming and missing completely the point?
