Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Memory Leak in Perl Engine on piCorePlayer?

2020-12-02 Thread mvordeme

Tidal got stuck again, today, and I tried a few more things.

- On the Receiver, the MPEG-4 podcast did not play, either. It showed
the same behaviour as tracks from Tidal, i.e. re-buffering and now and
  then playing a few seconds.
- On squeezelite, Tidal tracks would still play, but they had some
trouble taking off. The clock would start counting, but no music would
play. After a few seconds, the music would follow, get stuck again,
and start over. After one or two attempts and the occasional
stuttering, the entire track less the first few seconds would play
without any problem. It was the same for all tracks I tried.
- On squeezelite, the MPEG-4 podcast played without any problems
  whatsoever.
- Today, the piCorePlayer web interface was not working properly,
either. The CPU temperature display for example would run into a
"connection reset" error more often than not.

I just restarted the LMS (took a few retries to load the LMS page), and
the pCP web interface is back. Memory consumption of the LMS was at more
than 210 MB and is back to 103 MB, now. Tidal tracks are playing
properly again on the Receiver and on squeezelite.

mcduman said the "flc pcm" which seems to have been changed from IFT to
FT as part of thte "tdlflc" change. There is some other piece of
information missing because it is unusual for the "flc pcm" rule to be
invoked and not the "flc flc transcoding"

There are two options in TrackStat for its refresh operation, one for
refresh at startup and one for refresh after rescan, if you disable both
in TrackStat settings page you should not have the problem that LMS
hangs. The side effect of disabling them is that you will loose some of
the smart logic in TrackStat, primarily related to not loosing data if
you rename or move music files. If you don’t rename/move music files you
are probably fine with having both these options disabled.

I use LMS 7.8.0, unfortunately my current setup can’t run any later LMS
version. Haven’t updated the Ubuntu OS for a long time and the old
Ubuntu version I’m using breaks newer LMS versions. Unfortunately my
spare time is a bit limited at the moment so I will likely not have the
time to look into this in more detail in the foreseeable future.

Never used it so don't know it's charactertistics but I can guess. User
is playing Flac stream and possibly it has to be resampled or user has
disabled Flac to player.

I'll probably test to understand the issue.

O.K., thanks. A bit strange that this hasn't, yet, come up for anyone

I guess if the official release doesn't work, I can always go back to

be fine.

This rule was not part of this discussion. But the issue in this thread
showed that "IFT" cannot work if there is a "$START$" so the "working"
rule may have had a latent fault which has now been exposed. It sounds
like radio Paradise only works with "IFT". I don't know Radio Paradise
/ Flac so you should give all the details of your system in case it is a
specifc combination of LMS version and player type and radio Paradise
Flac.

What sort of player do you have ?
What version of LMS ?

The generic solution that Philippe_44 is investigating is intended to
fix the underlying problems that "tdlflc" type was needed to fix and so
avoid requiring a "pdiseflac" type solution.

2020-12-02 Thread pmendiuk

Hi Paul,
I tried a few times with --user and had the same result.

I did some reading about tinycore and extensions. I ended up using pip
with the --prefix switch and placed the packages in a known spot and
created an extension.

After boot:

Code:

$ pip list
  PackageVersion
  -- ---
  cbor2 5.2.0
  Deprecated 1.2.10
  luma.core 2.1.0
  luma.oled 3.8.1
  Pillow 8.0.1
  pip20.1.1
  pyftdi 0.52.0
  pylms 1.0
  pyserial 3.5
  pyusb 1.1.0
  RPi.GPIO 0.7.0
  setuptools 49.2.0
  smbus2 0.3.0
  spidev 3.5
  wheel 0.35.1
  wrapt 1.12.1

I finally have all the packages loaded for the OLED script. As expected
there are issues:

Code:

$ python3 lms_oled_3.12_spi_audiophonics.py
  Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "lms_oled_3.12_spi_audiophonics.py", line 46, in

So what do you use for python debugging in piCore? PyCharm?
