Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer Documentation
I went into LMS tab, Samba settings, and changed the Server Workgroup field to WORKGROUP which matches the name (and case) on my windows 10 machine. I backed up the pi and shutdown and restarted. I rebooted my Windows 10 laptop. I did not see the PiCoreLMS under the Network in the File Manager. However, I did see my directv and router. I have some additional feedback on documentation. Early on in this thread there was a discussion of including more of what and why. For example, why should, or perhaps not, move the LMS cache files to the hard drive. More information on reason for resizing the file system and what is considered a large file system that would require a larger size. I agree with that observation and it would be helpful information for someone new to this. I on the Server WorkGroup issue that I brought up, more information on making it the same as your Windows 10 workgroup is recommended. (However, for me it seems to have not have worked.) I could go into more detail, but I am very busy at the moment. thank you Paul P Nelson's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58158 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112996 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I added a udev rule as described here https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite/issues/114#issuecomment-733747460 for my Topping E30 to my pCP 7 beta. Will this survive an update to stable. [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
Lets keep the Christmas presents coming! The pCP team is happy to announce the official release of piCorePlayer 7.0.0 Significant changes _*pCP_7.0.0*_ - Kernel 5.4.83 - RPi Firmware Dec 8, 2020 - Includes support for RPi 400, and CM4 modules. - Based on piCore 12.x base. - OpenSSL 1.1.1h - Drivers included for upcoming DAC cards. Allo Boss2, and PiFi40. - Hardware Random Daemon. Required for some headless installations to allow SSL to work properly. SSH key generation on older pi boards(Zero/B/B+) is still rather slow on first boot. May take up 120-140s on first boot to fully populate. - mDns enabled by default. Burn your image, boot the RPi, and find it by http://pcp.local This is broadcasting the hostname of your player, so please change your hostname on the tweaks page if you have multiple pCP devices. (mDns can be disabled on the tweaks page too) - Integration of cifs-utils for better CIFS drive mounting support, including special characters in share passwords. (Not enabled by default) - You now have the ability to set the amount of time when retrying to mount remote network shares. This should resolve problems where NAS system boot slower than pCP. On the Jivelite menus, Navigate to Settings | Screen | Now Playing | Now Playing Views Do you see VU meters listed there? You can uncheck all of the views except VU metersthen it should show that by default. If VU meters are not listed there, then you are not controlling a local squeezelite session. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. I don't have a touch screen or a mouse only a Justboom IR remote control to control my system and pressing the OK button does not find VU meters. Now playing gives me choices and VU meter is there but no way to access it. diode84's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68983 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Working my way through nowhinjing's how-to. To resize the file system it says go to Main page > *Advanced Mode Operations*, this is now *Additional Functions* in the more recent UI. Why resize to a mere 1000MB? and a *Danger* "If you have a large library select Use 2000 MB or Whole SD card. *In my opinion* 2000MB should be the absolute minimum, I use the whole card if it's a 8 or 16 GB card. Installed LMS then on to set up SAMBA. As Redrum points out in his post above, if you don't enter anything in the Server Workgroup, when you click the "Set Shares" button you get a pop-up to tell you to "fill out this field", and cannot proceed unless you enter something. @nowhinjing makes no mention of a "Workgroup" anywhere in his how-to, so we can only assume that the need to enter anything in that field came with a pCP version change? If you take the trouble to find your Windows workgroup name and enter that (mine's WORKGROUP), then your pCP will appear under "Network" in Windows/File Explorer. I named mine NickyNook in pCP. 32635 32637 If you enter anything else other than your Windows workgroup name (I entered MARTINMACBULGEPIKE), then your pCP *will not* appear under "Network" in Windows/File Explorer. 32638 But you can still follow nowhinjin's instruction to "Add a network location", and then be able to access the attached USB drive/stick using Windows/File Explorer. +---+ |Filename: Martin.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32638| +---+ *Server - LMS 8.1.0 *Pi4B 4GB/Flirc case/pCP v7.0.0b6 - 74K library, playlists & LMS cache on SSD (ntfs) *Study -* Pi3B/pCP 7.0.0b6/pi screen/Allo Boss DAC Ruark MR1 Mk2 *Lounge* - Pi2/pCP 6.0.0 > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > AudioEngine DAC1 > AVI DM5 *Garage* - Squeezebox Boom + Fostex sub *Dining Room* - Pi3B/Bluetooth/Echo Show 8 *Spares* - 2xTouch, 1xSB Radio. 1xSB3, 6xRPi kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112996 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
To see the VU meters on pCP you have to be using JiveLite and it has to be on a player that is playing. You cannot see the VU meters for a remote player (unless you sync that player to the one running JiveLite ... in which case it is playing even if you cannot hear anything). Then, you tap the middle screen to cycle through the displays that you have enabled via (from memory) Settings/Screen/Now Playing/Now Playing Views. Paul that sounds far too complex for the benefits. pCP is lean and fast, I will keep it like that. But I have never seen VU meters on pCP, how do I see VU meters and decide if I really want them, what do I need to do, what skin and how. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
The linked post from paul- had at the end "If there is interest here, we can work on some how-to's" I didn't see anyone in the few days that followed expressing an interest so my guess is that there are no "how-to's" ready to go for the imminent pCP 7.0 release. However, if it is only documentation that is needed rather than significant changes to pCP 7 then expressing an interest in such an approach (and explaining why) over in that thread might get some traction. It looks like it would need reconfiguration of the display interface and installation of a web browser. So what you could do is test and confirm that Epiphany web browser on a Pi does do what you want.
