The USB-DAC SMSL M200 (XMOS) works fine.

Makes sense.I do use iPeng so, yes, it appears in the player list as

2021-02-14 Thread rgro

O.K...seems to work now. Might have been a browser refresh issue all
along---apologies, a rookie mistake. When I see the pCP Main Page after
reboot with dac off, Squeezelite was shown "OFF" as would be expected.
Then, after powering the dac on, the page still showed it as "OFF" but
then, when I manually refreshed the page, it showed Squeezelite as
"ON".

Answers to your questions:

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Yes.
4. Yes.
5. When I type that, I get only this (not the other 6 lines you
mentioned):

Installation complete
Squeezelite is now set up to autostart/stop with DAC power
Backup and reboot ('pcp br') to enable

So, finally, does that User Command (/home/tc/SQLITE_control.sh find
DAC51892395' in my case) need to stay Tweaks or do I delete it??

Cheers...

chill wrote:

because I can see that there may be some confusion already). The only
changes were to make 'install' fail a bit more gracefully if the DAC
wasn't present, and to make sure that the user types 'sudo' in front of
the 'install' and 'uninstall' options.

So if you had the previous version working (the one you installed after
manually removing the old rules file and removing the User Command from
the Tweaks page), then I'm struggling to see that simply replacing the
script with this version can have caused this.

If you have disabled the 'stop' function with the '#' character (one or
both lines is up to you: in front of the 'sudo' line prevents the stop
command working, in front of the 'echo' line also prevents it from
reporting in the log file, so both is better), and the 'start' function
isn't working, then the script is now doing nothing! So it's possible a
typo has been introduced into your version of the script causing it to
fail to run. So let's do a few checks:

1) Do you have a file called 10-DAC51892395.rules in /etc/udev/rules.d?
2) Is it the only file beginning with '10-' in that location?
3) Is that file listed at the end of /opt/filetool.lst?
4) Do you see the following lines towards the top of /opt/bootlocal.sh?

Code:

echo "Starting SQLITE-control.sh from /opt/bootlocal.sh..." | tee -a
/var/log/pcp_boot.log
  /home/tc/SQLITE-control.sh find DAC51892395 &

5) What happens when you type *

Code:

'sudo SQLITE-control.sh install'

You should see something like the output below (with 'DAC51892395'
instead of 'DAC'). After running that command, does the DAC behaviour
change?

Code:

tc@pCPLounge:~$ sudo ./SQLITE-control.sh install
  1) Squeezelite output device found in /usr/local/etc/pcp/pcp.cfg = DAC
  2) DAC found on card1
  3) DAC idVendor = 08bb and idProduct = 2704
  4) udev rules written to /etc/udev/rules.d/10-DAC.rules
  5) etc/udev/rules.d/10-DAC.rules added to /opt/.filetool.lst
  6) SQLITE-control.sh added to /opt/bootlocal.sh

  Installation complete
Squeezelite is now set up to autostart/stop with DAC power
Backup and reboot ('pcp br') to enable

*EDIT: The DAC must be connected when that command is issued

Thanks Carsten - out of interest, did the script 'beep' at you when you
tried the 'install' command without your SoundSticks connected (or the
'install' or 'uninstall' options without 'sudo')? That '\007' is the
'bell' character. It works in Terminal on my Macbook, but I don't know

The latest version of the script did not change the functionality
compared to the one before (maybe I need to start using version numbers,
because I can see that there may be some confusion already). The only
changes were to make 'install' fail a bit more gracefully if the DAC

More questions with regard to the newest script version:

1. Does this most recent script update/change allow removal of the User
Command in Tweaks?

2. Do I still need to put a # in front of both these lines, or just one
of them?

echo "$stopname removed" >> /var/log/pcp_DAC.log

sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/squeezelite stop >> /var/log/pcp_DAC.log

The reason I ask is that with the User Command removed and the '#' in
front of just the one line, 'sudo /usr/local/etc/init.d/squeezelite stop
>> /var/log/pcp_DAC.log', with the newest script when I reboot with the
DAC in standby and then turn it on, it won't auto-start Squeezelite as
it did with the previous version of the script.

Reverting back to the older script, with the User Command implemented,
and the # in front of both lines, it works perfectly to start
Squeezelite upon dac power-up.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Network dropout with pCP 7.0.0

2021-02-14 Thread pputzer

I've since activated the syslog daemon. Unfortunately, the kernel prints
out such a huge number of "lan78xx 1- eth0: kevent 4 may have been
dropped" that both /var/log/messages and /var/log/messages.0 get drowned
in seconds.

I was just giving up, wenn I noticed a new error (which seems more
plausible as the culprit because it's related to WIFI):
[632481.832827] ieee80211 phy0: brcmf_run_escan: error (-110)

I've found https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2453, which could
be the issue (I don't have the originating log lines, so I can't be sure
it's the same error, but the symptoms sound quite similar). I've tried
removing and reloading the driver, but that didn't work:

Since piCorePlayer could not recognize the USB-DAC, I am running it on
Raspberry Pi OS Lite + Squeezelite.

Hi Jeff

Thank you for the quick response. I guess I can instead replace the
regulator for a 5 Volt one. Let me open the box and see what's there...

It should only be used when you log into pCP via the console or via ssh.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] [piCorePlayer] Customization of RF remote control keys?

2021-02-14 Thread wtnh

Thanks for the pointer. It turns out this new remote is sending a
different code for the OK and Enter keys than the one that works.

Working remote:

Code:

Event: time 1613328411.379315, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value
70028
  Event: time 1613328411.379315, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 28 (KEY_ENTER), value 1
  Event: time 1613328411.379315, -- SYN_REPORT
  Event: time 1613328411.387290, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value 70028
  Event: time 1613328411.387290, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 28 (KEY_ENTER), value 0

Non-working new remote:

Code:

Event: time 1613328715.194926, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value
70058
  Event: time 1613328715.194926, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 96 (KEY_KPENTER), value 1
  Event: time 1613328715.194926, -- SYN_REPORT
  Event: time 1613328715.298836, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value 70058
  Event: time 1613328715.298836, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 96 (KEY_KPENTER), value 0

So it looks like the remote is functioning, but Jivelite is ignoring the
70058 code. I guess I will need to remap the codes to get it to work if
I want to keep it?

Is this typical of RF remotes? I would have expected Enter to be
consistent/universal.

Sorry for the RF remote newbie questions.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer Documentation

2021-02-14 Thread P Nelson

Thank you for adding information on SD cards for PiCore, that will be
helpful for people deciding what to buy.

I have been looking at the various settings and saw the Security button
on the PiCore main page. It is using the default Id and password. I am
curious, when is the id and password used? When I connect to PiCore
from my internal LAN, it never asks for a user id and password.

For cyber security best practices, I should probably change it from the
default. However, I would like to know when that id and password is
required.

However, after the Solarwinds issue, I hope the various code elements
used for updates are frequently checked for stuff that does not belong.
I would not want my Pi to become a botnet for someone wanting to mine
bitcoin or snooping for identity theft.

Thanks for the wonderful software!

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] [piCorePlayer] Customization of RF remote control keys?

Just got another RF remote to try out:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787Z1C2G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8=1

33368

I wanted to try this one since the front side is much simpler and should
do the job for jivelite control.

All the buttons work with jivelite EXCEPT the OK button and the enter
key on the back. They do nothing. These are obviously the most important
for selections, so it is pretty useless.

I suspect it is just defective and will send it back, but I was
wondering about a quick way to check in the logs to see if these keys
are getting recognized?

Thanks

I do not think you'll easily get a transformer to replace this one but
the fact that it appears to be regulated will not help you.

What is the part number on the regulator (the TO220 Part attached to the
heatsink ?)

I hope to wake-up this old thread and find someone who can guide me a

The Raspberry Pi I have seems to be near its last days of living. Maybe
a bit early to conclude, but I get the yellow lightning bolt, and the
device reboots every now and then, seemlingly more and more often and I
can't seem to feed it enough power. I'm about ready to try a solid piece

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Lost sound after upgrading to pCP 7

2021-02-14 Thread cfuttrup

Today I retrieved the SD-card and installed piCorePlayer 6.1.0 on it.
The player is back to working with the ApplePi DAC HAT board. I conclude
that something went amis during my in-situ upgrade to piCorePlayer
7.0.0

P.S. My old trouble with the yellow lightning bolt is not resovled. As
mentioned before, it might be the PSU that's not powerful enough
(anymore) or it might be bad contacts in the Raspberry Pi. At least,
while the device was disassembled I made sure that some contacts were
pulled and pushed (aka cleaned a bit) and that didn't do the trick. This
comment is not related to the subject.

Cheers,
Claus

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New sd-card image backup feature in pCP 7.0.1

2021-02-14 Thread mr-b

Tx for adding the LMS warning.
It'd also be useful to say what navigating away from the page will do.

I only saw a progress % counter on FF with no bar. I had to do a shit
Reload (override cache) to get the bar to display.

The image size makes a lot more sense now, though an old storage pedant
says all that has to happen now is to change mb to be MB or GB and then
we're !Done". Or should that be "100%" now? ;-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Picoreplayer 7 + RPi4B. USB DAC output problems

2021-02-14 Thread coyrls

There is a possibility I think that there is some sort of timing issue
going on, as the DAC doesn't function at boot but will function if you
replug it. The odd thing is that the DAC is recognised but doesn't
function. Anyway, as an experiment, you could slow down the boot
process by setting the "Wait for USB" parameter using the "Beta" tab
"Main Page" -> "Extras" -> "Bootcodes" -> "waitusb=". Try setting is to
something like 30 seconds. There is no USB device to wait for (your DAC
is recognised) but it will slow the boot process by the time entered,
which *may* allow the USB to get to a functioning state before
Squeezelite is started.

I've updated the script (in 'post #137'
to check whether the DAC is connected, and stop with a warning if not.
It'll even give a little beep!

I've also added a check at the start to make sure that the 'install' and
'uninstall' options have been called with root privileges, i.e. 'sudo'.

And I've even tried to make the commentary match up to the
functionality. How's that for commitment?!

After Imdid the backup, I took the image and flashed it with
Raspberry Pi Imager onto a faster and sadly bigger (before
8GB, now 16GB) USB stick and it worked out of the box. I only had to set
the waitusb time to 4 instead of 12 before because the new stick is
faster.
So everything fine now!

Thank you for the great work!
