Yes, sorry, that's LMS 8.2.0, *not* piCorePlayer 8.2.0, which is what
you typed in your original post.

So I think @mcduman is asking from where did you get *piCorePlayer
8.2.0*?

*LMS server/study player - LMS 8.3.0 *Pi4B 4GB/NanoSound ONE case/pCP
8.1.0 - 75K library, playlists & LMS cache on Sata SSD (ntfs)
*Lounge* - Pi2/pCP 8.1.0 > HiFiBerry DIGI+ > Topping E30 > AVI DM5
*Dining Room* - Echo Show 8
*Garage* - Squeezebox Touch > Edifier

*Spares* - 1xSB Radio, 1xSB3, 4xRPi, 1xDAC32, 1xCORE32

But if the question was about 8.1.0 or 8.2.0, Material Design does tell
me

"Server

Version: 8.2.0 - 1627922070 @ Tue Aug 3 11:43:18 CEST 2021"

And received with grateful thanks. Others have already noted how lucky I
was to get a Pi4 in current circumstances.

And to return to my original question?

I have PicorePlayer 8.2.0 installed on an rPi4 and now connected to a
Beresford Caiman SEG DAC by USB. Sounds great, but if I power down the
DAC, or disconnect the USB cable, I have to reboot PicorePlayer to get
Pi and DAC talking to each other again. The output from the Pi is set to
generic USB. I see the same problem if I plug in the Apple DAC/Headphone
adapter. Is this normal or have I something wrong.

What do the custom output settings on the Pi USB output option do? (Not
too technical and answer to that please!)

It's not too much of an issue as I leave the DAC on all the time - just
interested.

And thank you to all the good folk on this forum who continue to do so
much for us all.

[SlimDevices: Unix] Best HDD format for PiCore player and MacOS?

2022-03-07 Thread PugRallye

Hi,

I recently switched from using Windows to MacOS and I've always run the
HDD attached to the Pi, and an external backup HDD as exFAT

Since moving to MacOS, I've learned the hard way that MacOS doesn't play
nice with exFAT where the disc was formatted on Windows (which uses a
default allocation size of 4096) - from what I can see, MacOS only
supports allocation sizes up to 1024

I use GoodSync on MacOS to backup between the drive normally connected
to the Pi and my backup drive btw

So I guess I have two questions:
1. would changing to allocation size of 1024 have much impact on
performance? (either in use on the Pi, playback, re-indexing etc, or
when backing up)
2. is there a better format than exFAT that will work on both the Pi and
MacOS (and ideally Windows too, just in case, but not a deal breaker)
3. Other options? (e.g. running Windows on my MacBook Air M1?)

For reference, I have c6TB of music files (almost entirely FLAC)

Any help or experience would be welcome - thank you in advance...

Perhaps the Pi hasn't enough power to spin it up?

You could try powering it up from a hub.

[SlimDevices: Unix] second USB hard disk for the pi3+

2022-03-07 Thread MatthiasG

I already have a usb hard drive connected to my Raspberry PI and now I
would like to connect a second (old usb 2.0) hard drive.

After I restarted the PI, the second harddisk is not available (no
detected USB disks to mount).

What can i do? A second disk should be connectable - right?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 8.0.0 - Bluetooth Discussion

2022-03-07 Thread denmla

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is related to the fact that I'm using bluetooth
dongle as output to play music or with something else, but I suspect it
could be due to the fact that bluetooth dongle is on one player tab and
picoreplayer on another..anyway, I'm trying to use pcp CLI to determine
status (pcp mode: stop/playing). I need this for a sh script to power
GPIO on status play.

Problem is when I issue the pcp mode command it states STOP, but music
is playing over the bluetooth. Not sure if it is looking for the default
picoreplayer tab (which I'm not using since it is standard audio output
from the rpi, I0m only using BT).

Here is an image of the issue:
37403

Is there some way around this?

thanks in advance!
