[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 8.0.0 wget: bad address ':9000'

2021-07-18 Thread th00ht

After creating a 8.0.0 image and configuring wifi successfully the web
GUI shows "Squeezelite is not running" and in ssh it shows wget: bad
address ':9000'. Manually configuring the SC ip does not help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer - Backup fails

2017-03-13 Thread th00ht

Ok, I did a simple dd for the first couple of 800 64K blocks so it will
cover most of the payload of the disk. Booting the new device worked
fine.

Code:

dd if=/dev/ of=/dev/ bs=65k count=800

still not sure how the backup and Save to USB function are supposed to
work.

[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer - Backup fails

2017-03-13 Thread th00ht

the piCorePlayer is awesome but I need to replace the uSD stick for a
smaller one. Therefor I thought: make a backup, prepare a new uSD card
and restore the backup.

Clicking Save to USB results in

Code:

 piCorePlayer

  [ INFO ] Mounting /mnt/sda1...

  [ ERROR ] /mnt/sda1 has NOT mounted.

[ ERROR ] Insert USB stick and try again.

Clicking Backup gives no errors

But both seem to do nothing to a USB attached memory stick with ample
space (8GB)

Is my approach right? Is there another way to copy the current image to
another? Should I attempt a dd?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] SSD question

2012-02-22 Thread th00ht

The real question would be why would you pay the extra and use an SSD?
My one and only reason is that HD add to the acoustic noise level. A
smaller but not less important reason would be power consumption.

In my LMS-machine OS sits on the SSD (Samsung SSD PB22-J MLC), without
swap, and /tmp sitting ram.

Code:

  devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults0 0
  shm/dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,size=1G0 0
  none /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,size=2G,mode=1777 0 0

  #LABEL=swap swap swap defaults0
  0
  LABEL=root   / ext4   defaults,noatime,nodiratime,discard 0
1
  LABEL=boot   /boot ext4   defaults,noatime,nodiratime,discard 0
3
  LABEL=home   /home ext4   defaults,noatime,nodiratime,discard 0
2

The media files are on a RAID5 (HD) based LVM.

I did experiment with the log files on a tmpfs as well but ran in a
number weird boot problems so stopped doing that. Ofcourse
/opt/logitechmediaserver sits on the SSD so DB activity is fast and
noiseless.

The audio files are located on a RAID5 (HD) based lvm set which can
spin-down if not needed.

I would not worry about the SSD. You are not planning to write GBytes
of new data daily (are you?) only once most probably. The SSD most
likely will outlive the economic value of your system.

[SlimDevices: Unix] specify 64 bit binaries for flac sox etc.

2011-11-26 Thread th00ht

The binaries for transcoding are located in the Bin/i386-linux folder.
On my 64bit os these don't work. In the convert.conf file I seem to
have to specify a [bin] folder for these. How does this exactly work?

thanks mnyb

Actually i had all (sox faad flac mp3) installed (64bit). Renaming
i386-linux to i386-linux.backup caused the LMS to find the helper apps
in path (/usr/bin) instead of in this directory and solved my problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 trouble on Archlinux

2009-05-18 Thread th00ht

sox is required for transcoding I believe. I had a couple of 88.2 FLAC
files which cannot be played by the SqueezeBox and are transcoded to
44.1. Apparently by sox.

Matthew, you could help to make the world a better place by writing or
adding to the wiki on how to install SC succesfully. I regard myself as
an absolute n00b (can't even spell that right) on GNU-Linux but got SC7
installed on Ubuntu 7.04 with a little help from the Debian friends and
added some notes or two for other Ubuntu users.

I am like yourself a senior software developer (.NET/C# and I'm looking
for a new job, btw. correspondence is appreciated).
Improvement will only commence if newcomers with an analytical mind can
write down how things work (for other, less analytical minds, no
offence)

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Ubuntu 7.04 - Softsqueeze not working

2008-12-07 Thread th00ht

My SqueezeCenter runs on a GNU-Linux distro Ubuntu 7.04 . I'm starting
the SoftSqueeze on my Vista PC (to test if it could play 5.1 FLAC). I
had it connect correctly for 3 min. Now when I start it the display
keeps flashing that it lost the connection.

the installation of SC7 failes on Ubuntu 7.10 I get the following
messages.

What's up?

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] install on Ubuntu 7.10 fails sox mysql

2008-04-20 Thread th00ht

What I forgot to tell you is that I'm a n00b on ubuntu. :-

The installation of ubuntu 7.10 took place on a CDROM less Pico-ITX
based Artigo that does not have a CDRom drive. Installed was from a USB
stick. There for a small change on the Synaptic Package Manager was
needed. After including dep http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main
to the Third party Software source I also had to activate the universe
Ubuntu Software source.

After that I could select the SqueezeCenter package and all dependent
packages where downloaded.

In the end this http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-560519.html
helped me.

I'm tempted to write instructions for other ignorant fools such as
myself to assist other users. Should I?
