[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer - Backup fails
the piCorePlayer is awesome but I need to replace the uSD stick for a smaller one. Therefor I thought: make a backup, prepare a new uSD card and restore the backup. Clicking Save to USB results in Code: piCorePlayer [ INFO ] Mounting /mnt/sda1... [ ERROR ] /mnt/sda1 has NOT mounted. [ ERROR ] Insert USB stick and try again. Clicking Backup gives no errors But both seem to do nothing to a USB attached memory stick with ample space (8GB) Is my approach right? Is there another way to copy the current image to another? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] SSD question
The real question would be why would you pay the extra and use an SSD? My one and only reason is that HD add to the acoustic noise level. A smaller but not less important reason would be power consumption. In my LMS-machine OS sits on the SSD (Samsung SSD PB22-J MLC), without swap, and /tmp sitting ram. Code: devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults0 0 shm/dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,size=1G0 0 none /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid,size=2G,mode=1777 0 0 #LABEL=swap swap swap defaults0 0 LABEL=root / ext4 defaults, noatime, nodiratime, discard 0 1 LABEL=boot /boot ext4 defaults, noatime, nodiratime, discard 0 3 LABEL=home /home ext4 defaults, noatime, nodiratime, discard 0 2 The media files are on a RAID5 (HD) based LVM. I did experiment with the log files on a tmpfs as well but ran in a number weird boot problems so stopped doing that. Ofcourse /opt/logitechmediaserver sits on the SSD so DB activity is fast and noiseless. The audio files are located on a RAID5 (HD) based lvm set which can spin-down if not needed. I would not worry about the SSD. You are not planning to write GBytes of new data daily (are you?) only once most probably. The SSD most likely will outlive the economic value of your system. -- th00ht Ripping: 'EAC (free and great)' (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) Squeezebox Server 7.7.1 - r33735 / Arch64 Squeezebox Classic, Quad 303 (where can I get new caps?) + two Quad ESL 63 Squeezebox Touch, Denon AVR 1912 (Pure Direct) + two CM8 + two CM1 + CMC Squeezebox Radio White 'last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/th00ht), 'SoS' (http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Society_of_Sound/Society_of_Sound/Music/download-manager.html), 'linn' ( http://www.linn.co.uk/music) th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93717 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] install on Ubuntu 7.10 fails sox mysql
Thanks all. I've just added my first section (Ubuntu (Gutsy)) to the DebianPackage wiki. Hoping that this will help some other users. -- th00ht SqueezeBox v3, SqueezeCenter (7.0.1 - 17793) Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46563 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
[SlimDevices: Unix] install on Ubuntu 7.10 fails sox mysql
the installation of SC7 failes on Ubuntu 7.10 I get the following messages. What's up? [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# apt-get install squeezecenter Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: squeezecenter: Depends: mysql-server-4.1 but it is not installable or mysql-server-5.0 but it is not installable Depends: libmysqlclient14-dev but it is not installable or libmysqlclient15-dev but it is not installable Depends: mysql-client-4.1 but it is not installable or mysql-client-5.0 but it is not installable Depends: flac but it is not installable Depends: sox but it is not installable E: Broken packages -- th00ht SqueezeBox v3, SqueezeCenter (7.0.1 - 17793) Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46563 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] install on Ubuntu 7.10 fails sox mysql
What I forgot to tell you is that I'm a n00b on ubuntu. :- The installation of ubuntu 7.10 took place on a CDROM less Pico-ITX based Artigo that does not have a CDRom drive. Installed was from a USB stick. There for a small change on the Synaptic Package Manager was needed. After including dep http://debian.slimdevices.com stable main to the Third party Software source I also had to activate the universe Ubuntu Software source. After that I could select the SqueezeCenter package and all dependent packages where downloaded. In the end this http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-560519.html helped me. I'm tempted to write instructions for other ignorant fools such as myself to assist other users. Should I? -- th00ht SqueezeBox v3, SqueezeCenter (7.0.1 - 17793) Quad 303 + Two Quad Electrostats th00ht's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15656 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46563 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
