Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
Hi Greg, As you know, I know nothing about Linux, but I did a bit of reading on Busybox and ps and thought about my set up. I had tried the Update Full on squeezelite and that didn't work. I then looked at my CPU Isolation on the tweaks page. I had set my CPU Isolation to 0,3. I removed that entry and it booted cleanly. No idea what any of that means, but I hope this helps narrow it down for you. I tested it a few times and it is repeatable. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
Hi Greg, I set wlan as just another thing to try. I guess you can still set a static ip for wlan even with wifi turned off and AP on. Apparently there is a 30 second time-out timer for getting the date/time and LMS won't start until it gets a date/time or times out. I don't suppose disabling the NTP service would help? Thanks, Howard Greg Erskine wrote: > hi Howard Passman, > > Why is wlan set at all? > > I thought you couldn't have wifi and an AP? > > The issue is we don't have a "standalone" mode. hi Howard Passman, Why is wlan set at all? I thought you couldn't have wifi and an AP? The issue is we don't have a "standalone" mode. We use the right existing options to avoid some of the network checking. For example, setting eth0 static IP adds a NODCHP bootcode thus avoids dhcp lookup. Similarly, if you set static IP on wlan0 it adds code to run ntp, it this case not what you want. regards Greg Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
I went back and checked the 'static ip' settings and I hadn't set the eth0 to static. So I set both the eth0 and the Wlan to static and addressed them. The last message I get in the console before the timeout is (in red) that it times out when trying to get the date. So is there a way to set the timeout period on NPT? I must be the only nut in the world that doesn't want his clock set. LOL Still trying to figure this out. Greg Erskine wrote: > Setting eth0 to static IP will prevent it from trying to use DHCP. Thanks Greg, but not really. It's pretty much like that, except I do have AP set so I can access it and/or make changes from my phone. I've run a long DSI cable to a 7" screen and loaded Jivelite, so I can control it that way. I made something so the screen mounts on the dash. The server is under the console. Most of the boot time (When I start the car) is the server waiting for the time so it can go ahead and load LMS. I see in pcp-startup.sh there's a section that tells LMS to wait for a valid date before starting. I was hoping (but don't have the knowledge) that something could be done here to bypass the date check. if [ "$LMSERVER" = "yes" ]; then if [ "$LMSDATA" = "default" -o "$LMSMOUNTFAIL" = "0" ]; then DD=0 echo -n "${BLUE}Waiting for valid date before starting LMS ${NORMAL}" while [ $(date +"%Y") -lt 2020 -a $DD -lt 30 ]; do echo -n "." sleep 1 DD=$((DD+1)) done [ $DD -lt 30 ] && echo " ${GREEN}Done.${NORMAL}" || echo "${RED}Date is not set. Just a quick note for those trying to LMS upgrades, the update script has been changed to be a branch based selectionplease note the new command line option. https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/upgrade_lms/ When pCP hits its release, branch selection will be in the web interface. Which means when LMS changes versions, it can all be managed from the web interface. (Note as of right now LMS internal update notifier will still change release numbers automatically) piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
I just a read Ralphy's instruction completely and it is strange that your udev task is not activated after reboot. According to the man pages of udev, udev reads the files in /etc/udev/rules.d/ as well as in /lib/udev/rules.d/ (and some other folders). Hence, that should actually not be the root cause of your issue. But I am still using pCP 6.0.0 while you run version 7.0.0 which is still in beta stadium. And it is possible that Ralphy's test system includes some updates which are not part of 7.0.0b6 (e.g. there was an issue with UTF support of CIFS). Therefore I suggest to wait for the feedback from Ralphy. All we are doing right now is guessing. jd68's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30795 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

How did you add your udev file? I couldn't add the file directly as the file system is read only. I just followed Ralphy's instruction. @slartibartfast, I have a udev file in /etc/udev/rules.d/ (instead of /lib/udev/rules.d/) and it is executed during reboot. Maybe it is a matter of file location. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
I have added a udev rule as described in this post https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite/issues/114?_pjax=%23js-repo-pjax-container#issuecomment-733239838 The method to install it is described in this post https://github.com/ralph-irving/squeezelite/issues/114?_pjax=%23js-repo-pjax-container#issuecomment-733747460 It seems to install correctly and I can see the rules file in WinSCP. However the rule does not run at reboot. I can get it to run by running Code: udevadm trigger --attr-match=subsystem=usb at a command prompt and then it allows my DAC to enter and leave standby when the squeezelite player is toggled on and off. The question is why doesn't the rule run after a reboot? slartibartfast's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35609 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
...and I love listening to music. That's why I use pCP in my house and my car. Of course I'd like the car server to boot faster than the home server and because I'm using one pCP set up with the 7" screen to control the server I need them to kind of boot in sync. Otherwise there can be issues. Otherwise I am old fashioned, using 25 year old discrete component pre-amp and power amp. And a 27 year old Revox CD player. I love the old stuff. It just works. The nice thing about the pi is that you can tinker without risking many $$. So a little messing around is fun. Especially when you're retired and there's not much else to do these day without risking much more than a $40 piece of I kind of thought this little bit would be just like something that you guys would put on the bootcodes page. Ah well. Lesson learned. mherger wrote: > > I believe the clock speed for the Raspberry pi is set for a default > of > > 50mhz. Perhaps it would make booting and backup a bit faster ... if it worked. Given how little use pCP makes of the SD card once boot is complete then I think you would not see any difference in ordinary operation. I just don't know if there are any issues for the piCore architecture or any advantages to be had. To change the clock speed for the SD cards: # Overclock the SD Card from 50 to 100MHz # This can only be done with at least a UHS Class 1 card dtoverlay=sdtweak,overclock_50=100 I'm doing this on an 3B and a UHS1 card without any issue. Hey pCP7.0.0 beta guys, We have updated the CLI "setup" command. It is still very basic, but might be helpful for starting and stopping things when using the CLI. Main reason for the update was, the wifi setup was broken due to the advancements of the WEB GUI wifi software. It now uses the same wifi code so shouldn't break in future. 32250 +---+ |Filename: setup.png| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32250| +---+ Greg Erskine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I think I've fixed my unrecognised extended characters in LMS scan issue but I'm not sure how. I installed the util-linux-locales.tcz extension which I think also installs util-linux.tcz and the scan started working properly. However, when I removed the extensions and rebooted the pCp the scan continued to find all the folders with extended character set labels and files within the folders. Maybe it will all revert to as it was before when some cache clears. *Music Store and VPN Server: *Synology DS215J NAS* Study Player:* Pi 3B pCp 6.1.0/IQ Audio DAC+ *Study Server:* Pi 4 pcp 7.0.0 (beta) *Refurbished 1962 RCA Stereo Console Player *LMS 7,9.3 on Pi 4B pCp 6.1.0/IQ Audio DAC+ *Headphone & Streamer Players: x3:* pCp 6.1.0 on Pi 3B /IQ Audio DAC+ *Homeplug/LAN Players: x2: *Squeezelite on Windows 10 PC. *VPN Mobile & Car Player:* Material/SqueezePlayer on Android Phone ian_heys's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2629 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Hey friends, there are no problems for any Linux, BSD to mount a CIFS share / filesystem with utf-8 (Like share protocols CIFS, NFS or filesystems ext2-3-4, Ntfs, btrfs, etc). PiCorePlayer had no problems before, Daphile has no problem. The problem is not other languages or characters set than yours (very centric mind). The only problematics for most filesystems are path separators and some punctuation characters. This file with dummy mp3 albums and with eastern characters (Russian and Belarusian post-punk ;) ) https://we.tl/t-ridysycZmK This folder mounted under pCP with CIFS (via pCP Gui or manually via console): - the LMS scanner is unable to read the folder. - The whole system cannot browse the folder too (you can try a simple ls or LMS interface). It's ok with parts of mounted filesystem with files with western characters . - I'm unable to manually mount by forcing utf8. The same folder mounted with NFS is ok on pCP. Everything works fine with the same cifs share mounted with an Ubuntu workstation, a Windows one and different Docker containers (on a Rancher OS).
