Re: Standalone problems

2009-06-15 Thread camm29
Have had this problem with Rev3.0 as well on Windows XP.

It happens after the standalone fails to build with the satck password set and
the stack script has answer dialog in it.

No solution yet !

Is your version the Trial or Purchased ?

Re: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-04-01 Thread camm29
Thanks everyone involved

This is a show stopper for me as the only reason I need to purchase Rev 3.0.0
is for the need to access more than 9 serial com ports , a previous bug in
2.8.1 prevented this.
This is why i am testing using the trial version , if that cannot build then I
don't what to waste my money.

Bug report - are you saying I need to raise a new one or update the old reports
?
If i can remember how to do it..

This is not in the Rev 2.8.2 Builder !?

RE: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-03-30 Thread camm29
Jim ,

Thanks but I tried that many times and still no good !

I built a stack in Rev 3.0.0 and it will always fail to build ONLY when I use
ANSWER Dialog and a PASSWORD for the stack.
It will build with ANSWER Dialog without the a Stack PASSWORD.
It will bulid with Stack PASSWORD without any ANSWER Dialog.

The same stack wrote with 2.8.1 (not copied) will always build in 2.8.1 using
ANSWER Dialog with Stack PASSWORD.

The problem can only be corrected in my case by using Rev's 3.0.0
standaloneSettings.rev stack with the one from 2.8.1.

Camm

Re: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-03-30 Thread camm29
Just revisting , as I have tried everything now.

I had to use the StandaloneSettings.rev from 2.8.1 and place it into Rev 3.0.0
I can then build as password protected stack with an Answer Dialog in Rev 3.0.0
Using the StandaloneSettings.rev supplied with Rev 3.0.0 it fails to build.

Can anyone confirm the following a failed build please :-

Download TRIAL version of Rev 3.0.0
Write a simple stack using Revs answer dialog that pops up on a press of a
button.
Build for Windows only and set a password for the stack in the standalone
settings.
Build the standalone.

Camm

Re: Addressing Hardware - particularly usb port

2009-02-11 Thread camm29
Yes it can, but you must have a Virtual port that appears to be a serial comm
port.

Rev will only send/receive Commands/Data via serial RS232 , the only problem
then is the USB meter data requirements.

Re: Import temperature and switch on/off the heater with Rev

2009-02-03 Thread camm29
Paolo ,

Should work !

If you do not have a RS232 Port then use a serial Port/Usb emulator driver.
If you have a RS232 Port then use a USB to RS232 cable convertor.

Rev will send / read from Serial Com Ports only , the above is the solution.

Rev 3.00 is better as you can use Com Ports > 9

Re: RUNREV Technical support

2009-01-23 Thread camm29
Kay ,

Need Rev 3.0 because they fixed the issue with using Serial com ports >9.
I do not have Rev 2.9.

Yes , I have made a simple "Hello World" answer stack - the same happens !

Thanks for trying.

Re: RUNREV Technical support

1. Try building a standalone on a different machine
>>I HAVE ACCESS TO 100+ MACHINES , 50 NEW
>>TESTED ON 6 TO DATE WINDOWS XP FAILS ON ALL.

2. Change the convoluted scripting structures; remove unnecessary
references to "call"
>>REMOVED ALL STILL FAILS.

3. Boot in safe mode and try it again .
>>STILL FAILS

4. Check for duplicate stacks using Application Browser
(Reply: SB adds duplicates during build, then errors and built stack
remains open with dialogs already installed.)

5. Check for a permissions issue, a full-disk issue, or any other thing
that would prevent the stack from being written to disk.
>>CHECKED ALL , STILL FAILS

6. Re-download the RR distribution and try re-installing. (I probably
should have specifically mentioned, though, that you should not add in
any third-party plugins until after testing. I was assuming a clean
install.)
>>3 CLEAN INSTALLS , STILL FAILS

7. Try a work-around: leave those extra dialog stacks inside your
mainstack, then *uncheck* the ask/answer dialogs in the SB. Make sure
you disallow scanning for inclusions in the SB, just tell it what to
include manually. The SB will build your standalone without trying to
add new copies, and your standalone should have the dialogs that were
previously added.
>> STILL FAILS

AS A REMINDER :-
ALL IS OKAY ON 2.8 WITH STANDALONE PASSWORD SET
ALL IS OKAY ON 3.0 WITHOUT STANDALONE PASSWORD SET

Re: RUNREV Technical support

Thomas ,

Thank you for your ideas , this is far more constructive than
"We can't duplicate your error"

I did inform RUNREV about the error message " Answer Stack already in memory "
that has been a problem for other users.
They could at least explain the trigger for this REV error message.

I will try these suggestions and get back to you !

Never a problem when using 2.8 versions.

RUNREV Technical support

2009-01-21 Thread camm29
These lists are great and many issues are solved by all involved.Thank you.
No complaints !

My question is , what should we expect from RUNREV SUPPORT , you know those
guys who charge us for the Software !

My experience since using Rev is lack of real support compared with other
Software suppliers.

I have raised bugs and tickets etc..

For 3 years myself and others wanted to use Serial Com ports > 9.
Finally in Rev 3.0 this was corrected - a simple fix.

Now I can't use Rev 3.0 due to a Answer Stack / Standalone Password issue.
There are bug reports and support request tickets with RUNREV , but nearly all
the
help is coming from the list community.

It may end up not a RUNREV Software issue , but all worked fine before Rev 3.0.
So who's looking into it ? what has changed in Rev 3.0 ? what does the error
message really mean (they wrote it) ?
These are questions RUNREV should be working on or don't they believe it
happens ?

I took some time to look at the BUG lists for RUNREV and that of other software
houses.
Looking at dates and reports not actioned or addressed RUNREV was the
worst by a long way.

Have we become too soft !?

Camm

Re: Re-2: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-01-21 Thread camm29
Mark and Dave

I see that when the build fails it adds two stacks "answer dialog" and
"revCopiedIcons" - are these the temporary build stacks ?

I set the destroyStack for temp answer dialog in standalone setings.
I still get the memory error message , no standalone is bulit in all the tests.

The message is like this:
"A stack "answer dialog" in file c:/Users/Administrator/Documents/Revolution
Project/Fail3.rev is already in memory. The Revolution UI
does not distinguish stacks which have identical names, so editing these stack
files while both are in memory could result ind data loss."

Re: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-01-20 Thread camm29
Dave , Malte , Mark
Thank you for the replies.

Mark - I will send the stack , its just one answer from clicking a button.

Malte - No .exe is made , its fails at the standalone "checking
directories"stage
with an answer stack already in memory error message.Works fine in IDE

Dave - At first this could be the case but I have just wrote a one line answer
from button click with no pre-open etc and it still fails.

Again only with Rev 3.0

Steve

Re: Can anybody HELP !!

2009-01-20 Thread camm29
Sorry , we can all make mistakes , I missed the ANSWER bit !

The problem ONLY happens when ANSWER is used in the script AND a password is
set in the Standalone settings.
Everything works fine in IDE

I corrected some minor script errors as suggested which made no differrence.

Any script I use with ANSWER and PASSWORD SET in Standalone builds 100% in
older versions of Rev and always have.

The same scripts ONLY fail to build in REV 3.0 on several different Machines

It does happen ! hopefully someone understands Rev enough to find the solution.
Please.

Can anybody HELP !!

2009-01-19 Thread camm29
I have raised a few posts on this.

It's a show stopper for me ! I need to use Rev 3.0 to use it's increased serial
port access.

I have used Rev for 4 years now , but with Rev 3.0 it fails to bulid a
standalone for
Windows XP.
This happens ONLY if I set a password for the stack in the standalone settings.

I tried almost everything , though RunRev say they cannot reproduce this ?

Believe me it does fail !
I have used different PC'S and different scripts with no luck.
All scripts build on previous versions of Rev.

Please help !

Camm

Re: RunRev V3.0 Question/Message Box

2008-11-19 Thread Camm29
Sarah ,

Works in IDE with no problems.

Tried all manner of inclusions or not etc , still fails to build standalone.

I made a small stack with just an answer dialog and its fails to build in
Rev 3.

If I leave out any ask , answer dialog then stacks will build in Rev 3.

Camm

Re: RunRev V3.0 Question/Message Box

2008-11-18 Thread Camm29
Dave ,

Do you use any ASK or ANSWER within your scripts.

I have been unable to build any Standalone that use Ask or Answer in Rev
3.0.0

The same scripts bulid fine with no problems in Rev 2.8

It has been reported as show stopper bug.

Re: Rev 3.0.0 Bulid Standalone fails

2008-09-21 Thread Camm29
Cannot delete the "answer dialog" and "ask dialog" stacks that appears from
no where ?

It happens after "Checking Directories" in the standalone build process.

Other strange things happen , like it adds the Stack name to the file
description in the
standalone settings.

The message on failure appears as

A stack "answer dialog" is already in memory.Revolution UI does not
distinguish stacks with identical names.

My stack builds okay on 2.9.0 ???

HELP as I need Rev 3.0.0

Re: Wait with messages

2008-03-07 Thread Camm29
All ,

Problem was solved by INCREASING the wait with milliseconds ?!

Worse with wait 0 milliseconds
Original wait was 1 millisecond

Works like lightening with 5 Milliseconds ,

Now I can press a button on any card and exit the loop instantly.

Re: RunRev lack of rs232 Com Ports !

2008-02-28 Thread Camm29
Now days people have so many allocated ports in use !

Virtual Com Ports for usb and bluetooth etc , etc

I have 100's of requests for users to be able to select Com port 10 and
above.

So its not that we need to use 10's of RS232 Physical ports but need to
allocate
more than revs out dated 1 to 9.

It's seem strange that Rev's RS232 Core can handle 1-9 only , I'm sure it
would not be a
vast code change to increase ?

Best Regards

How come you think so? I think RR is doing a very good job with the
work on 2.9. So far almost everything I considder a blocker has been
fixed (including my pet bugs), so I am pretty happy with how it
evolves. Given the time the current beta program has been running I can
´t help but thinking that they take the Beta very seriously this time.
If each release would have been tested that well, we would all be
happy campers I guess. I am so looking forward to a final of 2.9,
and even though I am waiting impatiently I do think it is very well
worth the wait for a really stable version. New features after that. I
too would like to see quite some features introduced. tree views, real
table fields, multichannel audioclips, openGl. All those features do
have a different priority for the current userbase, so RR needs to
prioriterize their decisions. I on the other hand can decide if it is
important enough for me to hire an external writer meanwhile, and I
really wish there was a list of people to ask in need of an external
coder. *sigh*

All the best,

Thanks for that , hoping a solution is out there with the users !!

Somehow I doubt Runrev will show any interest looking at the
many bugs/enhancements that have been outstanding for many

Re: Wait with messages

2008-02-23 Thread Camm29
Thanks for that ,

1 is put into x within a button script on mouseup .

> Why do i check (x=1) 2 times ?

Well I actually check for(x=1) 10 times ?!
I think I've missed the concept of messages
I thought if not checking for x after each function in the loop it would
mean 10 x 250ms wait to exit

Each do something (10 off ) in the loop retrieves different data (each takes
250ms) via the rs232 port and displays
on a card in real time until the stop button is pressed.

Thanks in advance

Wait with messages

2008-02-22 Thread camm29
I have a loop with :-

repeat
. do something (takes about 250ms)
wait 1 millisecond with messages
if x=1 then exit repeat
. do something (takes about 250ms)
wait 1 millisecond with messages
if x=1 then exit repeat
end repeat

I have a button that makes x =1 to exit 1 card and go to another

The seems to be a larger delay than i expected to exit the repeat 2-5 secs

Any ideas how to exit repeat very fast ???

Thanks in advance !

Re: Number of Com Ports

2007-08-23 Thread Camm29
Thanks , but 2 months is a long time when in development !
My customers would hang me out to dry in 48 Hours.
RunRev should at least acknowledge every item , even if its declined.

This issue would not be a major workload for RunRev either.
Thank's for the tip on voting , everyone please vote !!

Well , no more purchasing upgrade packages from RunRev until this is sorted
at least for me.

Re: Bluetooth/USP GPS

2007-06-04 Thread Camm29
Chris ,

It looks promising , the only thing now is the actual data to/from the GPS ?

Let's say the GPS is using Bluetooth and your PC is setup for Bluetooth
on RS232 Port 1

RunRev can now see that data on RS232 Port 1 , you will have to check what
sort of Data
the GPS transmit and/or receives ? Are they simple commands etc

Yeah , I have a working Bluetooth/USB system on Rev

Though Rev has to see it as a RS232 Com Port 0 -9 !

So the Bluetooth and/or USB driver software must make a Virtual RS232 Com

Re: WARNING BUG ! Rev fails to Communicate

2007-05-21 Thread Camm29
Well , thanks to all that gave comments/advice on this topic !

Firstly . I have given myself a Big Kick !

Always install the latest driver if available !! kick
Always install the latest driver if available !! kick
Always install the latest driver if available !! kick
Always install the latest driver if available !! kick
Always install the latest driver if available !! kick

Just a reminder ...kick ,
kick

Rev no longer hangs with the latest driver (2.3.0) ! suprise !
The only issue I have is that the hardware vendor only has a licence for
hanging version 1.6 , that's why I still have a problem.
But REV seems to be in the clear , sort of !!!

Should Rev have locked up in that way ?? , other applications did not ?
Shall I remove the report ???

Best Regards

Re: WARNING BUG ! Rev fails to Communicate

2007-05-21 Thread Camm29
Okay , some good points I , will add them to the report !

For Info..

IVT BlueSoleil USB to Bluetooth Driver 1.6

My DCE is a Modem using standard AT Commands , No requirement for any
Handshaking !

Sarah's "SerialTest.rev" is a well known working example on Com Ports !
This is a good script to test on , ( It also Hangs PC with this driver)

Windows XP

Tested the driver with most commonly available Serial Data Monitors etc ,
works with no
problems.

Only fails with Run Rev !

Cam,Unfortunately I cannot answer your question but I am monitoring your
post as I too am VERY interested in communicating from Rev. Specifically,
I'm building aircraft cabin simulators using a PLC for the basic control and
wishing to use Rev to design an instructors interface (and editor) on either
a OSX or Windoze platform. What I need to do is communicate
bi-directionally with the PLC via Ethernet. If I hear of anything
interesting I'll let you know.best,

I thought update was the default , its works fine normally !
I will try though !

>> 2. You're not checking for errors. Did the "open" work? Did the
>> "write" work?

On my script , open works and write , hangs pc on read i think !
On Sarah's script it hangs pc on Open !

>>>3. The "read" command allows you to specify a timeout in case
>>> something goes wrong. You're not specifying one.

I do have a timeout in reality , makes no difference !!!

You bet ! no ctrl break , no task manager kill process , no nothing !!!
Only Reboot for my script and Sarah's !!

Well , that's why i use Rev , so i don't have to program in C any more.
What I mean in "C" based programs are programs like Hyperterminal and other
third party
Serial Port Monitors.
These all work perfect with the Virtual Device/Driver , so as far as
pretending to be a Com Port
it's okay on all programs except REV !!

I think it's a Rev issue that needs addressing URGENTLY !!

wait 50 milliseconds
Open driver "COM5:"
write "HELLO" & eol to driver "COM5:"
read from driver "COM5:" until empty

close driver "COM5:"

Any HELP ? , Is it a BUG ?

You probably have the union command working in reverse.

Re: Put data in lines

2007-05-06 Thread Camm29
Hi .

Had it working , sort of !

When data for a given line stops changing , the old original value appears ?
Then I found i'd missed "put it into currDataArr"
Now with "put it into currDataArr" the old unchanging data lines vanish
with only the new changing data lines displayed !

Trying to do the following ,

The first data received is always 999 lines with data , from then only lines
with changing data is received.

I always need to display the 999 lines of received data , with updating data
for given lines received.

Also when receiving data , It's not possible to move the Scrollbar ?

Thanks in advance !!

Regards
Camm

Lookup Union in the docs and it is a one-liner

Use the 'union' command to combine two arrays, eliminating duplicate

you may have to play with the union command to get it just right (not

script goes something like this...
--
local currDataArr

  put incomingStr into incmgArr
split incmgArr by ":" and "=" --it is now an array

 get currDataArr
 union it with incmgArr
combine it by cr and space -- (or tab, if you prefer)
put it into currDataArr --local var that will keep this value

sort it by word 1 numeric of each

Re: Put data in lines

2007-05-05 Thread Camm29
Thanks ,
Jim , Björnke and Mark for your comments and solution.

It's work great and fast !

One issue is that the next data string received may be longer or shorter ,
but it still must appear in the correct line !
(the system only sends changed data for a given line)

So , first 999 lines could be sent , then only 2 lines.
999 lines of data need to stay displayed then only 2 lines data to change !

the line number is before the =
the data is after the =

I find that the array method as shown by Mark will work a bit faster than
the replace delimeters method, but you have to use a data list of about
10,000 to see the difference. At 5 lines of data, the replace takes
9-10 ticks, and the array method takes 6-7 ticks. At 4000 lines, both will
show 0 ticks elapsed, which means less than half a tick. Tick is about
1/60th of a second.

Support has gone Silent

2006-08-10 Thread Camm29
Recently I purchased an upgrade just to allow installation of 2.7.2.
2.7.2 fails to install on Windows 98 , ME and 2000 and via Support Ticket
RunRev agreed this has been a problem.

It may be put right in 2.7.3

So now i have purchased an upgrade ( No i don't expect 1000 new version's per
year ! ) but i expect to get one working.

I need 2.7.2 to work on Windows 98 ,ME , 2000

I questioned value for money in this situation and now the Support Team have
gone SILENT.

Camm
