I've thinking about this and decided to implement it the following way. 1) Create new entities Center (Administrative Department, Business Unit) and CenterRole (Cost Center, Expense Center, Profit Center, Funds Center). 1.1) Create relations from Center to Party (Internal Organizations) and any other Entity (Product Category, Project, Marketing Campaign) that could represent a Center in a company. 1.2) Create relations from Center to GlAccount. This way I will be able to limit the use of each Center in Accounting Transactions. 2) Add relation from AcctgTransItem to Center and CenterRole 3) When adding an item to a transaction a drop down will list all the Centers related to that GlAccount. 3.1) It will be possible to do things such as distribute an expense between multiple centers. Hi, We have recently deployed OFBiz into our clients production environment. The following is typical of a serious issue we are experiencing: * run Pick n Pack, in a batch job * if we get an error in the capture process: othe service does not appear to return a clean error oit attempts re-auth, capture again etc. oultimately we are experiencing DB locks because of the above (I assume that while waiting for the payment processing the 80 or so users are experiencing db locking issues) Is there a way to simply return a capture failure, we'll skip that Order and move on? BTW: in dev test/debug, we are seeing some pretty complex code managing all these iterations (re-auth etc.) but ultimately the order goes into 'pick' and is 'completed'. We are assuming that the store setting Ship If Capture Fails = Y. Could someone confirm? include log files relative to the capture process. be sure to take out any CC info. what gateway is causing this. authorize, OOTB, is done at order time. should not re-autorize just capture, when ship. should not try re-athoris unless failed on first attemp. should not approve order if not authorized unless setup in Productstore that way. have you modified any code? Nick, What might be most helpful is to describe the symptoms and errors you're actually seeing instead of an interpretation of them (it's hard to guess at whether you interpretation is correct or not, or what that might mean relative to what people know about the system). For example, what do you mean by the service does not appear to return a clean error? The most complete way to answer that is answering the questions: 1. what did the user do 2. what did you expect (or hope!) to happen 3. what actually happened You also mention DB locks, and until those are known to be caused by the issue it might be best to treat them as an independent symptom, possibly to an independent problem. The DB locks may actually be the cause of certain problems as opposed to being caused by. The best thing for DB lock wait timeout errors (which is what I assume you're getting based on what you said, but you should verify that) is to send over the actual error message the user sees and the relevant errors in the log file (possibly before and after the main error). Going back to the beginning of this problem: why are the captures failing? Is there an error message that might help lead to a resolution? Is it because the CC processor is down or something and you don't like the way OFBiz is handling it? If so, what is the process you'd like to see OFBiz follow in order to handle it? BTW, these are questions I'd start asking were I working on fixing this. You don't necessarily have to answer all of them on the mailing list, though that would be the best way to get help from the community. David, In answer to your questions: 1. what did the user do A: this is a batch pick and pack scheduled job (we wrote this, it collects all Orders and issues a CreatePickListFromOrder and CompletePack OFBiz service call; each Order is processed within a single transaction; the process loops thru all available Orders). 2. what did you expect (or hope!) to happen A: we expect the capture to be successful; if not, we would prefer that we get the error returned and our code will take it from there (not pick and pack that particular order and move onto the next order within the batch). 3. what actually happened A:in our case the capture returned (from Verisign) a valid error code (system was trying to re-use an authorization code that had already been captured ... but could be any valid error returned). Once the capture failed, OFBiz tries to re-authorize, based on our current configuration (we think) but ultimately we'd prefer that we get the valid error code returned to our code from the capture attempt, then we can ignore that Order and move to the next one in the batch. We'll continue our research and provide additional insights as they come to us, thanks. Advice needed: Integrating an External Webapp with OfBiz Order Application service layer via RMI...
Hello all! I'll get right to it. Scenario: 1) I have a pre-built, no-ofbiz webapp built using a separate MVC framework (Spring, struts, etc) 2) This app needs an ecommerce solutio. So in this non-ofbiz webapp, a user can add a bunch of items to a shopping cart , and click buy and have ofbiz handle the rest. Now, the products may be added to OFBiz using one of the out-of-the-box applications, but the user should browse the product catalog and buy shopping cart items from the external webapp. Ideal solution: 1) Expose ofbiz's out-of-box order processing application via RMI/SOAP/some-other-remoting-technology . Essentially I want to staple ofbiz's shopping cart and order processing parts onto the side of this other application. Another user described a similiar scenario in another post: http://www.nabble.com/using-ofbiz-as-an-authentication-store-for-a-webapp--to15424697.html#a15442073. I've semi-disqualified SOAP at this point. Since OfBiz integrates with Axis at an API level, this would require me to go in and modify a number of OfBiz classes so that they emit proper XML (for WSDLs and whatnot) since only simple types are support out of box Feels like a less that optimal approach. So now, I'm looking into RMI, but I want to make sure I'm doing things in a way that makes sense and that lines up with any current de facto Best Practices. Right now, I'm thinking of: (a) going into the services xml files under the order application and (b) then exposing order and shopping cart services by setting export=true. Is this approach workable? Anyone have any experience or sample code for doing this? Another theorhetical approach would be to essentially include all the ofbiz jar files inside my WEB-INF/lib directory and then just import the necessary ofbiz classes into my webapp classes. Now I know this *specific* approach is not compatible with OFBiz since OFBiz expects a certain directory structure, but I was wondering if the *concept* of embedding ofbiz application in a standard webapp in some manner is (a) possible and (b) exactly how should one approach it?
