Catalog category related queries
Hi All, I have few questions related to Catalog manager categories. Q1: If I go to Edit catalog screen and then category tab, there are five fields in the lower form labeled as Add a category to this catalog . . .. The second field has label Product Catalog Category Type and a dropdown populated with various values with following convention i.e Admin Allow (One) and few categories with Many in the braces. The first part is category type. What is the second part in braces (One, Many). Q2. There are several categories populated with demo data such as Admin Allow (One), Ebay Root (One) etc. Most of the names are self explanatory but I have confusion in three names. These are: 1. Admin Allow (One) 2. Purchase Allow (One) 3 View Allow (One) Can some one explain these categories to me? Q3. In Create Catalog screen, there two boolean fields: 1. Permission required to add product to ViewAllow category 2. Permission required to add product to PurchaseAllow category If these are set to Y, does this mean no permissions will be required to add products in this particular catalog in categories ViewAllow and PurchaseAllow? What are the significances of this permission? Regards: Ejaz Ahmed
Why changes in UiLabels.xml require a restart?
I was expecting changes in UiLabel.xml file (found in particular application) should not require OFBiz restart. But it is not the case. I mad an experimental change in product component and refreshed OFBiz page. Changes were not updated. Then I cleared browser caches, no changes. I had to restart OFBiz application for this change to affect. Why a restart is required? Does ofbiz loads UI Labels at startup only? Regards: Ejaz Ahmed
Re: Why changes in UiLabels.xml require a restart?
Hello Ahmed, As far as I know, labels caches are server-side. you can find a list of caches in 'Cache Maintenance' on the web tools main page. The one you are looking for is starting by 'properties.' ApacheCon 2015
Hi List: Just a quick note: I've submitted a few presentation suggestions on the Confluence site: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+track+@+Apachecon+US+2015+in+Texas,+Austin+-++April+13-17,+2015 For the OFBiz Developer: From Zero- to- Hero and Developer Training session(s) - should they be selected - I will draw upon the content from a week long, classroom based training session that I have successfully delivered on a number of occasions. (I recently updated the content to reflect release 13.x.) If anyone is at all interested, I've pulled out all the slides (no narrative) and created a PDF that you can download here (free of charge): http://www.aesolves.com/store/products/p_TR-0734-CL Please refer any questions or comments to: rhoff...@aesolves.net or http://www.aesolves.com/control/contact Best Regards, Ruth Hoffman

You have to clear OFBiz cache. From webtools - cache maintenance. The specific store for labels is properties.UtilPropertiesBundleCache Nick On 12/22/2014 8:47 AM, Ejaz Ahmed wrote: I was expecting changes in UiLabel.xml file (found in particular application) should not require OFBiz restart. More ApacheCon 2015
Hi List: Sorry about the previous duplicate posts. Having some issues signing up for the list. About ApacheCon 2015: I also submitted a proposal for a presentation titled Apache OFBiz Top 10. The inspiration for this presentation can be found in a brochure I wrote (some time ago) based on the most common reasons my clients have chosen OFBiz. You can download a free copy of the brochure on my website: http://www.aesolves.com. Make sure you scroll down the page to where the download buttons appear. As always, any comments or suggestions are welcome: rhoff...@aesolves.net Best Regards, Ruth Hoffman

Order Items are associated with neither requirements nor productions runs created by mrp events of type sales order shipment
Order Items are missing from Order - Requirement - Orders tab of requirements created by MRP events of type Sales order shipment. Because they are missing, production runs created by requirements when approved also lack order item association. After approving the requirement, I expected to see the production run created linked to order that caused its creation such as what happens for Configurable Goods and Marketing Packages. Is there a reason order item associations to requirements and production runs created by mrp events should not be implemented in a similar manner as those product types?
Re: OFBiz/BigFish: Indian Retailer Religare Wellness goes live!
Done I have added References and Books main menu entries on the main site page http://ofbiz.apache.org/ They are directly linked to the wiki. I believe it's OK since they will give traffic only if we click on them, but I'm unsure of that. If necessary I will create intermediate html pages... BTW the menu entries are all in lower-case, is that really wanted? I have also noticed something weird, with the search https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dosearchsite.action?queryString=where=conf_favoritestype=lastModified=contributor=contributorUsername=queryString=Developers+ I get a link to https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBADMIN/Apache+OFBiz+Developers But this page does not exist :/ Maybe we should ask infra to have a look, looks like a wrong index to me Jacques Le 20/12/2014 10:23, Jacques Le Roux a écrit : I will also add a Books menu entry. It seems few new comers don't spot the wiki page. These are important information which should be at the top level. After going to the main ofbiz.org, under Documentation, it's a hard to find link Users of Apache OFBiz. I tried in the past to get this promoted to a main link within the Home Page. As we all know, almost all sites have a very prominent Clients or Customers link in order to provide viewers easy access to this information. I also feel that the Service Providers should also be more prominent. At the time of my request it was felt that for an open-source project the current structure was appropriate. Maybe this is the time to revisit this? I would like to see a main navbar link of users from the ofbiz.org home page. Failing that, perhaps we can have it more prominent within the documentation page? Suggest that we could have a heading (like Introduction or wikis) that showcases Users of OFBiz. What about a references entry in the main menu. Then a wiki page with at least these 2 pages https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/Apache+OFBiz+Users (maybe need to be rewritten to make the links to other pages more clear) https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/Apache+OFBiz+Service+Providers Jacques Nick On 10/31/2014 3:28 AM, Pierre Smits wrote: Hi Pranay, We have a page called 'Users list', see here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/Apache+OFBiz+User+List Maybe just add a child page for the users in your country? I think it can be a good way for OFBiz in general if people come and share their success stories with it. It surely helps increasing the adoption. Community should encourage users/developers to do so. I don’t know if we can do it or not but just an idea if we can also have dedicated page in OFBiz wiki for this purpose. Surely we have Service providers list but having a central place to put together some cool samples can be a good thing.
