Should it be easy to print from the webpos to a ticket or label printer
attached to the USB or RS232 port? (if my ofbiz is hosted in an outside
company)

Someone an idea?

Hi,

I'm facing two issues with Ofbiz 12.04.05 webpos.


   1. Keyboard shortcuts are not showing. I can see the contents of
   "specialpurpose/webpos/webapp/webpos/shortcuts/Shortcuts.ftl" in the page
   source of webpos. But the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' section is blank WITHOUT
   even a message like 'Please wait'.
   2. Another issue: Opened 'Manager' view of webpos. Clicked 'Open
   Terminal' > Gave 'Starting Drawer Amount' 1000 > NEITHER of the buttons,
   'Do you confirm?' and 'Cancel', is working.

Am I missing any configuration? Or where I might be going wrong?

I was looking at this document regarding the POS setup:

This in turn mentions another document here, described as "POS Setup Process":

Unfortunately that document is an invalid link. Does anyone know if this was 
moved somewhere and is still available?
 
Basically, when starting with seed and no demo data, I'm looking for a way to 
log in to the WebPOS (I've already added the admin user and some other 
details). The problem is that WebPOS can't log in without picking a terminal 
("Choose Terminal" is empty), but there are no terminals to choose, so I was 
hoping the above document would mention how to add a terminal. If that document 
is not available, perhaps someone could mention which menu or web page to use 
for adding terminals when there are none to start with.

Inventory - WEBPOS

I am exploring the WEBPOS plugin.
I can see the orders, invoices and payments generated after successful checkout
The inventory does not change however. (There are no changes on the 
InventoryItem

Webpos session timeout

Hi there,

Another question from me. It seems that on different environments we experience 
issues with the webpos component. We are not able to login because the session 
expires immideatly. If we remove the cookies we can get in, but in the next 
step we are being logged out again. We experience this behaviour in Chrome, 
Firefox and Safari on multiple computers. The exact error:


The Following Errors Occurred: Error calling event: 
org.apache.ofbiz.webapp.event.EventHandlerException: Problems processing event: 
java.lang.IllegalStateException: getAttribute: Session already invalidated 
(getAttribute: Session already invalidated)
Is there something we can do about this to prevent it from happening? Thanks

Webpos is based on POS and in POS there are no such mechanism. It's intended to be set by hand, not sure for webpos though since I 
never used it.

Ofbiz POS & WebPOS

Hello everyone,

I have just started exploring ofbiz POS and WebPos modules.

Problems with POS:
1] i'm unable to see my own created product in POS.
2] unable to add already added product to cart. It shows "Item Modification
Error" whenever i select any product. In console it shows following
exception,

Exception: org.ofbiz.order.shoppingcart.CartItemModifyException
Message: Could not find a valid price for the product with ID [ENCHILADAS],
not
adding to cart.

Problems with WebPOS:
1] i'm unable to see my own created product in POS.
2] unable to add already added product to cart. No error or Exception
generates in logs/console. it shows item added to cart msg in log/console.

So, Plz can anyone help/suggest me how i can achieve such simple task from
POS and WebPOs. Or suggest me some documents for it.

i have created product under specific catalog & category as well as in Demo
Catalog also.

i'm using apache-ofbiz-12.04.01 version.

Right I forgot we removed the specialpurpose component (but ecommerce) from 
R13.07

You could try but I don't think so, it's more that this has been fixed since in trunk. You might try to checkout the R14.12 branch if you want 
something more stable than the trunk

Hi M. Faty,

In ver. 13.07 no 'specialpurpose' components, including WebPOS, are
included except, 'ecommerce'. You may try ver. 14.

If a message at the download page mentions that components like POS, WebPOS
etc. are not available with 13.07, that will be helpful. Now, it only says,
"specialpurpose components are no more included with the only exception of
the ecommerce component." People who are trying Ofbiz may not understand
the implication. I too faced similar issues & active members like Jacques,
Pierre helped a lot. Can I be of help in these activities?

through manuals, you may download WebPOS from the branch & add it to
'specialpurpose' folder of 13.

In case of issues, you'll always find help from experienced people &

Has anyone experience or the knowledge how to print a ticket from the
online ofbiz web pos (ofbiz14.12) to a ticket printer (for example Epson
ticket printer)?

this would maybe create a terminal...and the current WebPOS can't be logged in 
to without a terminal. The command listed here does not exist in 16.11.01

Actually the POS has been pushed to Attic just before creating the R16 branch, where Gradle was 1st put in. That's why the doc also stop with Ant. The 
WebPos is not concerned and is something different.

Yes something like that indeed, but it's the notion of POS terminal, not Linux Terminal. A POS terminal is where the client pay. I can't say more 
about this, and it's maybe wrong.

I guess you need to have an OFBiz instance running where the client pay.

I hope someone will confirm, I was the POS maintainer, but don't know well the 
WebPos.

Since WebPOS replaced any previous POS this is what I'm interested in bringing 
up. My observation is that when ofbiz starts and has the demo data that there 
are three POS terminals listed when logging in to the WebPOS. There was no 
special command to start any standalone POS, so either the defined terminals 
(WebPOS concept, not computer terminal) are entirely defined by data, or else 
the data is responsible for causing launch of WebPOS terminals based on that 
data. Somehow someone created demo data and defined three POS terminals. How 
was this done?
 
I know it isn't via the WebPOS login itself, as you cannot log in to WebPOS 
unless terminals already exist. I did not see any other admin type interface to 
add a POS to the WebPOS. I am wondering if the only way to do this is to 
directly manipulate the data? If old data from a prior version was imported for 
part of the current 16.11.01 demo data, then perhaps the interface was 
completely lost and nobody noticed because the demo data hid the missing method 
for creating a POS. Does anyone know if the demo data POS definitions were 
imported from a prior version of demo data?

Yes it applies only to the POS not the WebPos. It's from 2009, last time the

So the POS component was deprecated and removed from OFBiz for reasons
which were thoroughly discussed in the ML which left some bugs in the
WebPOS and some outdated documentation. So it is a little bit of
trial-and-error at the moment to get things working.

My suggestion is to try and figure things out, and if you face any genuine
bugs (I suspect this to be one of them) file a JIRA and we'll try to help
you out in resolving them.

Hi,
 
I had hoped I could export the POS data and get a more or less empty XML dump 
which I could edit, but unfortunately empty tables do not export. I guess the 
next step is to put sample data back in, export, and edit the sample data XML 
files, drop sample data, re-seed, and then import the edited files.
 
I'll probably be adding a bug report too since there is no obvious way to add 
POS terminals (WebPOS, not older POS).

Just an update on an attempt to work around missing terminals. If I import the 
sample data and then export it to XML I get this:
 
If I then clean the database and seed (no sample data), followed by webtools 
import of the XML, the WebPOS still has no terminals. There may be some other 
data to import which I do not know about. So using sample data as a partial 
import in order to get a terminal is not a workaround.

have facilityId Company with a retail store type, but this is not the same (and 
editing facilityId from MyRetailStore to Company does not help). I used the 
setup app originally on the seeded (but not data demo added) instance to add 
Company, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where a new facility other 
than the original Company is added...apparently this is not from the facility 
function of the setup application (I can edit "Company" ID, but I can't add 
more facilities).
 
Is this a case of my needing to think about adding ID MyRetailStore as 
something other than a facility in the setup application? E.G., some sub-menu 
of Company setup?

Just to reply to my own post on what I've found is that with sample data you 
can search and find the facility with facilityId MyRetailStore, but the 
functionality to add more facilities from scratch (to create a new physical 
retail store facility) seems to be completely non-existent (you can edit 
facilities, but you cannot create them...MyRetailStore is not part of a 
facility group, it is a facility it seems). I hope I'm wrong...can anyone 
verify if this is correct or not since I have so little experience with this 
app?
 
It would make sense if adding a WebPOS terminal were part of the retail store 
edit since terminals would be associated that retail store. When editing the 
information for the existing sample data retail store there is (unfortunately) 
no link or clue as to how to edit any WebPOS terminals associated with that 
store.

I think current data structure is right, in China, a retail store has at least 
2 facilities, one for storage, one for shop space. You can add an area amount 
to the shop space facility, and then it's easy to get its sales per square 
meter from order statics by day, month or year, this data can help a retailer 
to improve his/her product visual.

But...how do I add a retail store? I only see a way to edit an existing retail 
store. One company should have at least one retail store, possibly many (unless 
it does all sales online). If I can't add a store I will have none...if I have 
no stores, I can't open a WebPOS terminal because there are no terminals (there 
can't be terminals without retail stores).

Hi,
 
Thought I'd summarize with some specific steps since I've made progress, but 
still fail (writing down to explain to others might help me catch my own 
mistakes too).
 
Problem: I need WebPOS to work on a brand new install using my own hand-entered 
data for a real retail store (versus demo data). WebPOS login page can be 
reached, but login cannot occur because there are no terminals. Apparently 
terminals cannot be added until there is a retail store. Creating the retail 
store and associating terminals is failing.
 
The explicit steps:
 
I drop the PostgreSQL DBs (to clear old data), recreate them, then run:
./gradlew 'ofbiz --load-data readers=seed'
 
I then create "admin" user via:
./gradlew loadAdminUserLogin -PuserLoginId=admin
 
Start ofbiz:
./gradlew ofbiz
 
Under the setup app I create Company (requires admin password update first, 
Party Id "Company" created by manually typing in info of a real company):
https://localhost:8443/ofbizsetup/control/initialsetup
 
Go to Catalog Manager->Stores, click New Product Store. "Primary Store Group 
Id" can't be selected or entered ("Not Applicable [_NA_]" is all that is 
there), the drop-down is empty other than "Not Applicable" (so I pick Not 
Applicable). Set Store Name to "Main Store". It isn't a demo store, and I don't 
know what the effect is, but I pick drop-down of "Is Demo Store" as "N". 
Everything else is unmodified and default. Click Update. Error rejects adding 
the store: "Inventory Facility Id Required".
 
Summary 1: Store cannot be added via Catalog Manager until an Inventory 
Facility Id is created.
 
I switch now to Applications->Facility Manager. "Main" or "Facilities" is only 
for searching, not for adding a Facility. This is where the prior email reply 
mentions to do this under Asset Management, but Asset Management->Facility is 
also only for searching, not for creating a Facility. Perhaps it is a Fixed 
Asset?
 
Summary 2: The required Facility Id of Summary 1 cannot be added under 
Applications->Facility Manager. Asset Management->Facility is also a search 
mechanism, and cannot be used to add the required facility.
 
Under Fixed Asset I can click "New Fixed Asset". Is it "Real Estate", 
"Property", or "Other"? Real Estate is chosen since it is most descriptive 
(Property might be a tract of land, Real Estate is more specific since it 
implies a building on the land). When I get to RoleType ID I am convinced this 
is not the correct place to create a facility.
 
Summary 3: I can add a new fixed asset, but it does not seem to give me a 
Facility Id. Perhaps I missed a detail.
 
Under Applications->Facility Manager->Facility Groups I can click "New Group". 
The only part I can logically add is Facility Group Name, and I add "Retail

mandatory, submitting this requires a currently missing parameter,

"Retail Facility". I don't have a Facility Id.

them here. I feel confident that members of this community can find
improvement points to make OFBiz better.

While it may create confusion, the Facility Management component isn't
purely about managing facilities (as in
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facility_management) but more about
warehousing (inventory/stock control, receiving and shipping goods).

The Asset Maint component seems (to me) the logical place to creating new
facilities, as they may be closely linked to fixed assets (buildings, etc).
As in associations between the FixedAsset (the building) and facility (the
office, the warehouse, etc). How unfortunate that it isn't in OOTB.

I did try readers of both seed and seed-initial, this does not seem to have 
changed anything.

So...how was the retail store in the sample data added? Was the building itself 
added by XML file edit/import (I don't see how asset management can be used to 
do this...loosely speaking one could add real estate or property, but I've not 
found any way to mark that asset as a facility to create a required 
facilityId)? For OOTB, is this only possible through XML edits? I could see 
this as possible if the demo data were inherited from a prior release and 
actual interface was not used to initially load the data.

Okay so it seems so far like the problem you are facing is simply your
inability to use the WebPOS application because there are no terminals
defined. Is this correct?

If yes, then this is mostly likely just some missing seed / demo data that
we should add to the WebPOS component. I suggest to create a JIRA for this
and we can tackle this issue over there to resolve it permanently.

Hi,
 
Yes, this is how the problem started, and the end goal, to add a terminal so 
WebPOS can be logged in to.
 
However, this also exposed a chain of issues with no ability to enter data 
through a standard mechanism while trying to create a retail store via "Catalog 
Manager->Stores, click New Product Store" (a terminal for WebPOS was the 
proverbial tip of the iceberg). You can't add the WebPOS until you have a 
terminal, and you can't add a terminal until you have a store, and you can't 
add a store until you have solved "Inventory Facility Id Required"...and there 
appears to be no way to add an asset/property/real-estate/facility which can be 
set up to have an Inventory Facility Id, so the store can't be added.
 
Should I add a JIRA bug based on the entire chain of missing requirements 
leading up to the inability to log in to WebPOS?

It's up to you, but I would suggest to make it a comprehensive JIRA that
addresses all of your concerns, so maybe call it "unable to use WebPOS due
to missing data" if you like.

If that proves to be too big, we can always create sub tasks. It would be
cool to get this thing working properly.

Before I file the JIRA bug report, I want to check one more time about any 
ideas anyone might have on the particular blocker in the chain of requirements 
resulting in "Inventory Facility Id Required". This is currently at the root of 
the chain of details blocking WebPOS. In summary, I have not been able to 
figure out how to create an asset which is a facility producing "Inventory 
Facility Id". Neither asset nor facility applications seem to have a way of 
doing this. Does anyone have any last suggestion on something to try before 
filing the JIRA report?

As we can't share information through a local OFBiz instance, it's helpful to use the demos. So you could reproduce there and it would be easier to 
understand your problem. The issue is that the demo data are reloaded every day at 3 UTC. So we need to sync before.

It seems I got it to work somehow, but not in the right way. I installed ofbiz 
without the full demo data (which caused me many more issues, so I wouldn't 
recommend doing that...), in that case you need to manually create the 
terminals yourself in the database. That was not the issue though, I already 
did that. But if someone has this issue as well, make sure you have done that.

I did notice in the logs an error saying posTerminalId was empty. Where this 
happens I'm not sure, but therefore I altered the code 
(specialpurpose/webpos/src/main/java/org/apache/ofbiz/webpos/WebPosEvents.java).
 In getWebPosSession() I added a check if posTerminalId is not empty:

posTerminalId = request.getParameter("posTerminalId");
}
This is still somehow acceptable. However, this did not resolve the exception I 
was experiencing. This was raised in the same file in the posLogin method. I 
simply added a try/catch there:

UtilValidate.isNotEmpty(posTerminalId)) {

Which is a really nasty solution. I'm sharing this since I hope someone can 
tell me why I needed to add this code and if I can solve it in another way 
without messing around with the code. Since I don't want to leave this code in 
there if not necessary. Furthermore, after logging in I still need to manually 
go to /main , so the function does not seem to return 'success', so I'm not 
there yet.

the session expires immideatly. If we remove the cookies we can get in, but in

Webpos and sales tax

Hi there,

I’m having trouble with the WebPOS. I noticed the latest update of Ofbiz had 
some improvements in this module, but still a lot is missing. One of the most 
important things I can’t seem to get working is the sales tax. For example, I 
have a product of 18.182 euro’s, 22 euro incl. sales tax. It now shows:


  *   Total: 22.00
  *   Total VAT: 0.00
  *   Total: 22.00
  *   To be paid: 18.182

So the total amount is correct. The amount to be paid suddenly does not include 
the sales tax. Furthermore, the sales tax shows 0 euro. VAT does work outside 
the POS (in order management), it just doesn’t work in the POS. When I enter an 
amount paid by cash or whatever payment method, it expects me to enter 18.182 
instead of the 22.00 euro’s the customer needs to pay.

I dived into the code but can’t seem to find it. I ended up in 
applications/order/src/main/java/org/apache/ofbiz/order/order/OrderReadHelper.java
 where I found the method getOrderTaxByTaxAuthGeoAndParty() which bases the 
sales tax on the tax authority. So my feeling is that in a webpos session the 
right tax authority is not activated. The POS terminal I have chosen is 
connected to a facility that does have the right tax authority. I’m not sure if 
there is any other setting that could cause this?

I have just started exploring ofbiz POS and WebPos modules.

Problems with POS:
1] i'm unable to see my own created product in POS.
2] unable to add already added product to cart. It shows "Item Modification
Error" whenever i select any product. In console it shows following
exception,

Exception: org.ofbiz.order.shoppingcart.CartItemModifyException
Message: Could not find a valid price for the product with ID [ENCHILADAS],
not
adding to cart.

Catalog also.

i'm using apache-ofbiz-12.04.01 version.

product.

Furthermore, I have tested adding products to a local instance of 12.04.01,
and it works fine.

Have you checked whether your products are added correctly to categories?

Yes you are now on the right track.

The POS is specific and anyway remember: by and large OFBiz OOTB is more a 
large demo than  ready made (though you can reuse much)

the prices which are shown?

The Plugin print all of the content (ex: div tag), so it can print special
characters.

SHIPPING_ORIG_LOCATION to the facility.

1.) Add contact mech to facility
2.) Add FacilityContactMechPurpose



It will then calculate the tax, as the SHIP_ORIG_LOCATION is used for tax 
calculation in WebPOS. There is still an issue adding the tax to the "Total 
Due". As I am currently working on getting the WebPOS ready for Austria I am 
working on a fix right now.

the sales tax. Furthermore, the sales tax shows 0 euro. VAT does work outside 
the POS (in order management), it just doesn’t work in the POS. When I enter an 
amount paid by cash or whatever payment method, it expects me to enter 18.182 
instead of the 22.00 euro’s the customer needs to pay.

I dived into the code but can’t seem to find it. I ended up in 
applications/order/src/main/java/org/apache/ofbiz/order/order/OrderReadHelper.java
 where I found the method getOrderTaxByTaxAuthGeoAndParty() which bases the 
sales tax on the tax authority. So my feeling is that in a webpos session the 
right tax authority is not activated. The POS terminal I have chosen is 
connected to a facility that does have the right tax authority. I’m not sure if 
there is any other setting that could cause this?

something that seems to work. However, if I set 'show pricies including taxes' 
to my store it adds the tax twice to the due-amount and total (though the sales 
tax is correct). So it does not feel right yet. I have something like this:

Total: 1 euro
Tax: 0,21 euro
Total: 1,42 euro

that’s because the "getDisplayGrandTotal" method takes the subtotal of the cart 
line that already has tax included and adds the "totalSalesTax".

I have changed it locally to:

Hi Ingo,

This did the trick for me! The only thing that might require some further 
investigation is that it now shows this list:

* Total: 127,64
* Total promo: 0
* Total VAT: 22,15
* Total: 127,64

The first total you would probably expect the price excl. VAT (105,49 in this 
example). Not a big deal for me though.

Issues with WebPos (ofbiz newbie)

Hi everyone, I am taking ofbiz for a spin and am interested in the "webpos" 
application. I have noticed that:

I can still sell a product even when it is out of stock (I have configured: 
"Disc. when not available = Y")
I cannot update the price of a product using the "new price" text field
I get: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: 
org.apache.ofbiz.ecommerce.misc.ThirdPartyEvents in the console when I try to 
update the price in the WebPos
I am using Release17.12

Confusion in working with webpos

Hello everyone,

I am trying to work with webpos for past two days. Can't able to understand
it clearly and also some buttons are not working. And keyboard shortcuts
are missing.

I am using Apache ofbiz version 12.04 which checked out from ofbiz trunk.

I installed successfully with mysql database.

i opened ofbiz webpos via following url :
https://localhost:8443/webpos/control/main

i logged in with credentials admin as username and password as ofbiz and
selected pos terminal 1.

Its successfully opened the webpos main screen.

Problem 1 : I am seeing keyboard shortcuts section at the top. *But it is
blank.*

Then i clicked on digital gizmo from the section "Products from this
catagory" it has added 1 quantity of digital gizmo to the cart with price.

Problem 2: There is no buttons available for me to do rest of the things.
How can i complete this payment process for this order.

Right side of the window we can see Select sales reps section :
Yes i do selected some of those

Problem 3 : once i selected what should i do. Where do i have to click. Or
what is the use of selecting sales reps.

Then i switched on to manager window.

I Clicked on open terminal. By response it has open a box and asking for
opening "
Starting Drawer Amount
"
I have entered "1000" and clicked on Do you confirm? button.

Problem 4 : No response for the click in "Do you confirm" button. Also for
"cancel" button. And not any information to user. Or not any errors.

Same in the case of Close terminal , paid in and paid out. Except shut
down.

And clicked on shut down button it successfully logged out.

Note : i am facing same problems in ofbiz-trunk-demo version also.

Did i got it wrong ??

Did i missed any pre-configurations ??

Please guide me with this problems i am facing.

Any help documents or configurations regarding my problem will be welcome.

I used until now only module "accounting" with menu "TaxAuthority" for
setting up VAT Taxes which works fine until now.
But not for the webpos. There is no tax used apparently.

I will now investigate with your documentation what to set up under the
"categories" "product" part .

For the "standard" price and the "list" price , i added information for
Belgium in "tax percentage" field, in the "tax authority party" field and
in the "tax auth geo id" field and the "tax in price" field is set to yes.

But no changes in the WEBPOS application . Here the prices are shown
without taxes even if we fill in the shipment or billing address with an
address in Belgium.

Is it possible that part is not yet implemented in the java code?

WebPOS - help in understanding & choosing

This is my first mail to this group.I have used OFBiz before and right now have 
the mandate to choose a POS application for a retail outlet chain in India with 
stores in multiple cities.  In fact, WebPOS is what I am looking for. 
 I had been through the demo of WebPOS 
at https://ofbiz-vm2.apache.org:18443/webpos/control/main?externalLoginKey=ELdae3deaa-edeb-4428-905d-fdb6a476b347.
  However, I was not able to navigate through the interface and finish a 
transaction.  I was not able to find any document to understand the flow.I 
was wondering if anyone has used WebPOS module of OFBiz recently.  Any 
inputs, thoughts, etc., in helping me understand the state of affairs is 
greatly appreciated.Thanks,Ramesh Chandra
