Re: Automatically open up tool properties when using a board tool?

Good idea, but I would turn it around and gray out the icon if the
dialog doesn't offer any functionality and show it in the regular color
if there is a reasonable functionality behind it.

I like the idea of icon "light up" :)

Maybe the "properties"  gear icon could somehow light up or change
colors when a user chooses a specific tool. That would indicate that
properties are available for the tool.

Hi again,

in our tests we noticed it is not that easy to recognize that some
drawing tools have options or where these options can be changed
at all.
We therefore had the quick idea that the drawing settings could
show up
automatically when using a supported board tool (and close when
using an
unsupported tool). Maxim had objected that this might be
annoying for
the users
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPENMEETINGS-2003). I'm
also not convinced that this would be the best solution to this
problem.
But it would at least increase the "discoverability" of this
feature. So
what do you think about it?

Re: Modern icon set in OM

2019-02-14 Thread Raphael Fetzer

Hi Ed,

thanks for your interest. :-) Not only did we replace the icons, but we
also tried to remove most of the color complexity to bring OM visually
closer to our Learning Management System through which it is accessed.
So there are a lot more changes under the hood as one might expect.

I don't see a fundamental problem in making our changes accessible to
the community, and I would love to do that. The only obstacle to
overcome would be that we would have to review the icon set and replace
some icons. We used a license for Font-Awesome Pro that is not
transferable. Most of the icons, however, can be used under the Creative
Commons BY, so if you do proper attribution this should be fine.

Raphael

Hi Ed,

Raphael will answer this shortly. He hasn't read this list till now.
