The time of usage of vm is counted by 35 hrs a day.

2014-03-17 Thread iStar Cloud
Hi CloudStack,

I've recently found CloudStack mailing archives while googling some issues.
I hope I'm sending this email to the right direction.

I've been developing cloud hosting website by integrating CloudStack with
billing and client management platform called HostBill.

Currently I have an issue about the time interval that running vm usage is
updated.
Hostbill is fetching cloudstack DB every 24 hrs. But the actual time
interval that counts how many hrs the VM has been running is not 24 but 35
hrs a day. Hostbill updates running vm DB from CloudStack every 24 hrs,
then the time of usage is supposed to be piled up 24hrs everytime it is
updated, but 35 hrs are accumulated. You might need to see a picture
attached for better understanding.

So I asked Hostbill representative about this and he told me there is
nothing he can do about it because the time is fetched all the way from
CloudStack and Hostbill hasn't modified anything related to it.

Now I have no idea where to start to fix this issue. Any advice would be
appreciated.

Nancy

KVM storage questions

2014-03-17 Thread Bjoern Teipel
Hi admins,

do you want to share what kind of storage you use in connection for CSTK
4.2.1 ?
I guess most of you is using NFS but myself is forced to use CLVM since I
have a iscsi flash based storage system available. This is also the reason
why I contact you, I personally find CLVM clunky, error prone and dead lock
heavy. Who is using CLVM in production and what kind of cluster config do
you use ?
I'm still trying to find out if I don't switch to NFS to avoid all upcoming
CLVM and ldm locking issues.
Maybe some of you are using OCFS, which I used few years ago with limited
success.

Thanks
Bjoern

Secondary storage shows agent disconncted

2014-03-17 Thread Tejas Gadaria
Hi,

I have created new setup with CS 4.0.2 and esxi 5.1. I am using vCenter 5.5
I have disable the zone, while adding secondary storage to zone its giving
"AgentDisconnected".
and Secondary storage goes into "Alert" state. I was facing same issue on
CS 4.2.1 with esxi xenserver 6.2
Any help will be appreciated.

This experiment setup so I have stop iptables and disabled firewall.

Re: NetworkUsage

2014-03-17 Thread Alena Prokharchyk
Diego, spent some more time on debugging your issue. Might not be related
to transaction refactoring as it went in after 4.2. And records for some
accounts actually got non-0 network stat:

0 network stats:

mysql> select count(*) from user_statistics where net_bytes_received=0 or
net_bytes_sent=0 order by account_id;
+--+
| count(*) |
+--+
|   26 |
+--+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

Non-0 network stats

mysql> select count(*) from user_statistics where net_bytes_received!=0 or
net_bytes_sent!=0 order by account_id;
+--+
| count(*) |
+--+
|  207 |
+--+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

Adding Kishan to the thread as he has more expertise in Network usage
calculation and he might be able to help us.

I would divide problematic accounts (Networks) that are not getting usage
stats update, into 2 categories:

CATEGORY #1 Networks having non-0 current_bytes* and 0 net_bytes received

This situation is totally normal as net_bytes_received get updated only
when VR gets stopped. Yet on Diego’s setup, those entries are not counted
when do network usage calculation. Here is the account having problems:

mysql> select * from user_statistics where account_id=176;
+-+++---+---+--
++++---
-++++
| id  | data_center_id | account_id | public_ip_address | device_id |
device_type  | network_id | net_bytes_received | net_bytes_sent |
current_bytes_received | current_bytes_sent | agg_bytes_received |
agg_bytes_sent |
+-+++---+---+--
++++---
-++++
| 228 |  1 |176 | NULL  |  1193 |
DomainRouter |366 |  0 |  0 |
   4271398427 | 2014478889 |  0 |  0 |
+-+++---+---+--
++++---
-++++
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

And here is the Usage log:

1. 2014-03-17 03:15:02,779 DEBUG [usage.parser.NetworkUsageParser]
(Usage-Job-1:null) Parsing all Network usage events for account: 176

2. 2014-03-17 03:15:02,779 DEBUG [usage.parser.NetworkUsageParser]
(Usage-Job-1:null) No usage record (0 bytes used) generated for account:
176

Kishan, is it by design not to count current_bytes in network usage? Can
you please double check the code, because it doesn’t look right to me as
the VR may not go into Stopped state for a while, yet we have to calculate
the usage

CATEGORY #2

Accounts (networks) having all 0s for
net_bytes_received/net_bytes_sent/current_bytes_received/current_bytes_sent

Diego, for those accounts we have to figure out whether the backend
reporting any usage for the Vrs. To debug that, you have to:

A) get all the VR names

mysql> select name from vm_instance where removed is null and
vm_type='DomainRouter' and account_id in (select account_id from
user_statistics where net_bytes_received = 0 and net_bytes_sent=0 and
current_bytes_received=0 and curre

| r-892-VM  |

| r-1004-VM |
| r-1030-VM |
| r-1148-VM |
| r-1205-VM |
| r-1221-VM |
+---+

B) Search for NetworkUsageAnswer and routerName in the log to locate
statements like that. Do it on your today’s log and the log(s) from couple
of days before. You might also want to run some traffic

2014-03-17 14:41:12,661 DEBUG [agent.transport.Request]
(DirectAgent-15:null) Seq 1-281411626: Processing:  { Ans: , MgmtId:

[{"com.cloud.agent.api.NetworkUsageAnswer":{"routerName":"r-3-VM","bytesSen
t":0,"bytesReceived":0,"result":true,"details":"success","wait":0}}] }

If you see that the backend reports non-0 value, it means that the
Management server fails to save it. If the backend reports 0, and yet you
are sure that there is a network traffic generated on the routers above,
there might be some error in a way we collect the traffic on the VR.

Also how many management servers do you have in your setup?

Here the usage.logs http://www.fpaste.org/86116/13950748/

[promote] CCCNA14

2014-03-17 Thread Giles Sirett
All

Don't shoot me for cross posting this, I feel the whole of our community should
be aware of CCCNA14 and the need to promote it as a community effort (and I'm
sure dev@ will welcome a break from 4.3 vote threads :) )

CCCNA14 is 3 weeks away and we need to try and encourage as many people as
possible to register and come along to, what looks like, a great conference.
The Linux foundation guys are doing a great job, but WE are the people who use
& develop Cloudstack: we are the people who need to get involved.
In order to do that we, as a community, need to make some noise about the
conference.

So, please get busy on social media, write some blogs (just doing mine now) ,
contact your colleagues, friends, customers, etc
Hashtags #CCCNA14
#Apachecon

If you're speaking: why don't you promote your own talk?
If you've got a colleague speaking: why don't you promote their talk ?
If theres a talk on the schedule that youre interested in - why don't you
promote it ?
If you know anybody whos using Cloudstack (or integrating with it) - make sure
they know about this conference (don't assume they'll know already)
If you're sponsoring, make sure you tell the world that you are

BTW: is anybody on these lists based in Colorado ? (I know the Solidfire guys
are) . For CCCEU13, we got quite a few local technology people to come along.
Would be great to repeat that.

I see target attendees falling into the two following categories:

1. Cloudstack folks who we may persuade to come to Denver for the
conference

2. People attending ApacheCon the days before who we can convince to stay
on and check out cloudstack

The speaker lineup looks great.

RE: Access Denied on Console Proxy

2014-03-17 Thread Len Bellemore
Hi Guys,

The problem was that the time on the management server was slightly different
to that of the console proxy.

Always use NTP!

Hi Len,

We've seen this issue before with older versions if CloudPlatform and it's
related to the management server the user is authenticated against not being
the same server the console proxy VM is assigned to. You can work around this
by configuring the management server load balancer to favour one server over
the other.

using ACS vpn connection as default gateway

2014-03-17 Thread Andrei Mikhailovsky
Hello guys,

I was wondering if you can use the vpn connection (roadwarrior and not
site-to-site) as a default gateway for a client? By default it does not route
traffic outside of the guest network range. I've looked at the Global Settings
and I can't see anything relating to this.

Many thanks

Re: Using includeInApiDoc=false to modify output content of apidoc?

2014-03-17 Thread Phillip Kent
Hi all,

I resolved this query.

The includeInApiDoc option works fine, and in accordance with the
documentation here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/CLOUDSTACK/Annotations+use
+in+the+API

The problem I had was with using maven. I thought simplistically (like
with 'make') if I modify a source file the change will be detected and a
rebuild will happen.

This does not happen - and I think it is basically the well-known
'incremental build' problem in maven
(http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12369233/incremental-build-in-jenkins)

So I understand you have to do 'mvn clean install' to pick up source
code changes. There are a couple of ways to speed that up - by switching
off testing
[http://maven.40175.n5.nabble.com/mvn-Dtest-false-mvn-Dmaven-test-skip-false-td201409.html]
and by using a parallel build, like this:

mvn -Dmaven.test.skip=true -T 1.5C clean install

and then

mvn -P developer -pl :cloud-apidoc

(The above clean install runs 3.5 minutes on my machine, compared with 6
to 7 minutes for standard install.)

So far as I understand it isn't possible to avoid the full install
although I only want the modules required for building the apidoc.
