Re: Multiple Apache CloudStack management servers

2024-05-11 Thread Rohit Yadav
Different CloudStack installation for the same host isn’t a good idea and can
cause unknown side effects. Edge deployments can be managed by the cloudstack
agent which runs local to the edge nodes while connected to a central mgmt
server/cluster

While we do support CloudStack mgmt server clustering, latency can have impact
on mgmt server.

Subject: Multiple Apache CloudStack management servers

Hi All,

I am trying to understand if the architecture of ACS allows to have
multiple ACS management servers managing the same hosts. My use case is
that I need to have ACS deployed to edge and provide some UI to each edge
location and still have a central instance to manage all edge deployments.
Is this supported or the different instances will lead to conflict?

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Cloudstack migration

2024-05-11 Thread Rohit Yadav
Hi Steve,

That’s correct newer EL8/EL9 don’t have the -ev releases as they aren’t
available or necessary anymore.

Since there may not be an in place upgrade path, you can create new cluster or
add new hosts and rolling migrate your hosts and VMs.

I am currently running an older version of Cloudstack (4.11) on top of
CentOS 7 and using qemu-kvm-ev from the CentOS Virtualization SIG. I am
looking at migrating to Rocky Linux 8.9 and a newer version of Cloudstack,
but I'm running into issues w qemu-kvm-ev. Am I correct in stating that
qemu-kvm-ev is only supported on CentOS 7 and its variants? If so, it
appears my two options are to migrate back the qemu-kvm package that is
shipped with Rocky, or try to build a working qemu-kvm-ev binary for Rocky
using the SRPM? Any other options I might be missing?

Re: IPMI Error

Hi Marty,

Are the credential to use ipmi correct? Are you able to run ipmitool on the
management server manually to query status for example?

Hello everyone,

I get these errors constantly in my environment.

Transitioned out-of-band management power state from On to Unknown due to
event: Unknown(An unknown error happened) for Host
{"id":7,"name":"csc-n3","type":"Routing","uuid":"d007845a-be22-401c-9d7a-c14ff4223c15"}

Error while issuing out-of-band management action STATUS for host: csc-n2

These are Dell R640s and the IPMI module is turned on. I am running the latest
CS version.

Any direction to start troubleshooting?

Likely it seems you have a broken host setup whose agent.properties doesn’t
have the necessary details to use the configured network devices. Was this a
host that failed to be added and can you try these zone deploy or host addition
again? Make sure /dev/kvm is available in case you’re setting up in a VM.

Could you care to explain what is WHMCS and how does that relate to CloudStack?
If it’s some integration or commercial module you’re better to reach the
specific vendor.

@shaerul for all NFS primary storages, CloudStack copies the template/iso
(image) on the primary storage from the secondary storage which is called
preparing template on primary storage. Such a prepared or cached template is
then used to deploy VMs on primary storage where for most hypervisors the VM’s
boot/root disk is a copy or link to the cached image.

Since this is connected to users@ ML, I don’t see why users can’t ask here.
Anybody replying on users@ wouldn’t be reflected here though, but they can
