In my experience, printing your own cards isn't worth it, unless you
need just a few. In addition to the cost of the cards, they tend to be
thinner than normal cards and the ink will often stick to other cards in
your wallet. There are lots of places that can print out hundreds of
cards at low cost.

2015-03-15 Thread Oogie McGuire
I’ve got one I made up for myself for speciality cards that I use as labels in
our yarn shop and print on the blank cardstock. I used tables, made sure I
could see the cell boundaries and set the size specifically. Then I can just
type into each cell what I need on that card , print and then use them as shelf
labels.

 I’ll bet you can do it by using tables or charts but that’s way past
 my expertise.

Hi,

menu:FileNewBusiness Cards...
Fill out that dialog and LibreOffice will generate a page with separate
frames representing the space of one card.

---

If you want to use one of the downloadable templates from various sites,
these have basically one table without borders. Each cell represents the
space of a business card. Right-click and check Table Boundaries to
make the cells visible on screen but not on the print out. Now you can
edit a single table cell to your liking, copy the cell content and paste
into each cell.

Hope this helps

 Not really!

 I think you've confirmed that the 1 figure is irrelevant in the
 calculation. But your earlier statements that if day 1 reaches a
 production of 10,000 units I want this figure entered and If days
 1+2+3+4 total, say, 42,500 I want ... to show the average of 10,265
 both indicate that the required result does not depend on other daily
 values. These contradict the idea that you simply want the true average
 of all seven values.

 Unsurprisingly, you can calculate averages using the AVERAGE() function.

 Incidentally, doesn't all this cry out for a table instead of a list?
 Put a week date (or date range) in column A, as you suggest. Enter your
 data for the days of that week in columns B to H of the same row. It's
 then particularly simple to calculate averages in column I. At the
 bottom of the columns, you could calculate averages for each weekday -
 and perhaps discover that you need to be more active on Thursdays!

Ha! I constructed a table, as you suggested and, yes, it does meet my
requirements.

Thanks for the suggestion, Brian.

[libreoffice-users] Size of calc window

2015-03-15 Thread Jim Byrnes

Using LO 3.5.7.2 on Ubuntu 12.04

Sometimes I need a full screen display other times not so big. LO Calc
always opens to the size of the last sheet saved even if it is different
from the one I am opening.

Is there a way to save the size of the window upon closing LO Calc so
that each sheet opens to its saved size?

Thanks,  Jim

[libreoffice-users] Re: Load files into Writer only?

Jens Tröger schreef op 15/03/2015 om 14:02:

Thank you, Fernand!

document = desktop.loadComponentFromURL(private:factory/swriter,
_blank, 0, ())
here you do not use any property value for opening ()

Correct in this line, and the next few lines of code are:

 from com.sun.star.beans import PropertyValue
 propVal = PropertyValue()
 propVal.Name = URL # or FileName?
 propVal.Value = file:///path/to/document.odt
 document.load( (propVal,) )
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File stdin, line 1, in module
__main__.DoubleInitializationException

I have also tried to pass a property list directly to the call above,
but that just opened an empty Writer document:

 document = desktop.loadComponentFromURL(private:factory/swriter,
_blank, 0, (propVal,))

Perhaps URL or FileName are not the correct properties to open a
file?

your solution to open a writer doc is the filter property
there are other available like Hiden ect..

Yes, all documented here:

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/OfficeDev/Handling_Documents#MediaDescriptor

dim oProps(0) as new com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue
oProps2(1).Name = FilterName
oProps2(1).Value = HTML (StarWriter)
document = desktop.loadComponentFromURL(private:factory/swriter,
_blank, 0, oProps())

Hope it helps

Fernand

In this your example, how do you pass the actual document file name?

just replace

private:factory/swriter with the URL of your document , be sure its a URL bij
converting it

using a OO native function: example converttoURL(c:\myfile.odt)

hope it helps

Fernand

Cheers,
Jens

'run as administrator' option nor can you check the run as admin in
compatibility section of properties...help?
Thanks!

[libreoffice-users] Re: install problem

2015-03-15 Thread V Stuart Foote
Hi Stuart,

Get everything backed out, and check TaskManager that no instance of
soffice.exe or soffice.bin is still active.

Down load and verify the current installer, check the HASH values of your
download against the Mirror List file info:

Fresh:  http (4.4.1)
://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/4.4.1/win/x86/LibreOffice_4.4.1_Win_x86.msi.mirrorlist

or

Still (4.3.6) :
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/4.3.6/win/x86/LibreOffice_4.3.6_Win_x86.msi.mirrorlist

If the HASH value (any of MD5, SHA1, SHA256) checks correctly proceed with
install.

Then launch a command windows (cmd.exe) run as administrator. And in that
command window change to your download folder and issue the command:

msiexec.exe /i LibreOffice_4.4.1_Win_x86.msi

or

msiexec.exe /i LibreOffice_4.3.6_Win_x86.msi

Should take you through the install...

Depending upon where you live I might be able to help. I created a
table-based template for just such a purpose and if you use the
International standard A4 sized stock I would be happy to send you a
copy. If you are using US Letter sized stock you still might want the
template and modify it to suit.

Let me know.
