Re: [libreoffice-users] brochure printing RESOLVED
On 07/10/15 19:57, Regina Henschel wrote: Have you really checked both options "Use only paper tray from printer preferences" and "Use only size form printer preferences" in the tab "Options"? After this options are enabled, the settings in the printer properties should be enabled. Duhh! I've just looked back, and that's exactly what you said originally. And I didn't. Sorry - and yes, that fixes it; thank you (twice!) But - isn't this a bit of an odd user interface? You set the brochure option on /this/ tab, enable setting the paper size on /that/ tab, then click a button on yet another tab to open the dialogue to actually set the size. Could this not be tidied up? (And the defaults must have changed - I'm sure I've never had to worry about this before) Nor, AFAICS, is this mentioned anywhere in the help file (which I did read!) Incidentally, I notice that the 'brochure' setting now is stored with the document (it used not to be), as is 'Use only paper tray' whereas "Use only size from printer preferences" isn't saved and needs resetting every time the document is opened. But thankfully the paper size and orientation are saved. Curious design. Anyway, problem solved; apologies again, and thanks for your patience. -- Mike Scott Harlow, Essex, England -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] Start a list at a level other than 1
Probably you could accomplish this through a new template. From: Lone PeregrineDate: Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 7:38 PM Subject: [libreoffice-users] Start a list at a level other than 1 To: users@global.libreoffice.org Is it possible to /start / a list at a level other than 1? If so, how? Here's why I want to find this out. I've created five different paragraph styles of headers, and each successive header's indentation is a 1/2" greater than the last. From hitting Enter directly after any of these header styles, I want to automatically enter a list that has the same level of indentation as the header just above, but it can still be promoted to the left or right. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Start-a-list-at-a-level-other-than-1-tp4162529.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: users+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

[libreoffice-users] Installing Libreoffice in Ubuntu
I have been dealing with this issue for years, going back to the Open Office days. How do you install Libreoffice under Ubuntu? Where are the step by step, clearly documented instructions? When are they not either on the download page in LO or a clear link on the download page? Here's what I find on the net including a google search: 1) Use the Software Center in Ubuntu. Never mind that it is not the current version. Never mind that the version is not posted in the "more Info" description, along with the date of the version. or 20 Go to libreoffice.org. Press the big download button. Now what? Start googling for instructions. Expect the instructions to not tell you: an explanation of each command. where the program will end up on your system. whether it will automatically get rid of the remnant files and even the original downloaded files. how to deal with the help, and why. or 3) Google like I did last night and find that there are "ppa"s, with a well written explanation of the "fresh ppa" being better and why. Now try to find how to install the most current version, whether you have a copy on your computer or not. and How to deal with dependencies, not just finding out that you have "dependency problems" but also that LO will not install due to them. It seems that this is a universal Linux problem. If you don't know the intricacies of Linux, then you shouldn't be using it. So much for attaining more market share.
