Hi,

Kannel has no server module natively, but you can contact Stipe, he
sells a non-free addon. For further information search a little bit in
die maillist archive, the question is asked and answered once per month.

Re: SMPP Server

2005-08-10 Thread Mike Nwaogu
Hello,
I believe kannel can do SMPP with the requesting
gateway, your settings should be set to internal eg:

group = smsc
smsc = smpp
smsc-id = smscID
host = 127.0.0.1
port =
system-type = kannel
smsc-username = secret_as_u_set_it
smsc-password = terces

as long as the peer gateway is doing SMPP there should
be no problems, far as I know.

The scenario will be:

want to help (financially) to make a real Open Source Kannel SMPP Box

No, it may not possible to do that. However you
may try to use kannel faksmsc code, I am not sure whether it will work as SMPP
server.
Alternatively you may download logica smpp, smpp
simulator and modify it to work as smpp server.

Hi Anand,

the SMPP v3.4 server market is usually not open source, as CMG/Logica, NowSMS
and other vendors value their products and don't share such server side software.

Nevertheless some of Kannel developers, including Rene and me (Alex maybe too?;)
offer server side extentions to Kannel.

In my case this beast is called smppbox that is able to act as a full-blown SMPP
v3.4 server. Hence allowing you to connect own customers via SMPP and leaverage
all MT traffic via Kannel's bearerbox to any of the supported protocolls.

But even those servers from the Kannel developers are NOT open source. They are
subject to a commercial license agreement.

There is no user-service group in Kannel.

If you want to configure incoming shortcodes, you need sms-service.

you're looking for testers that will test your SMPP server? via connecting
Kannel SMPP client instances to it?

I'm interested ;)

In fact I provide the commercial add-on Kannel SMPP v3.4 server (smppbox) to
numerous large scale GSM/CDMA MNOs and SMS aggregators around the globe.

I guess my SMPP protocol skills should be considered "more" then average ;)

Hello Jain,

You know what you want. That is good!

1) Kannel can do that in an efficient way.
2) You have to become a carrier.

Take some time to read the userguide and this important document
about Kannel architecture:

http://www.kannel.org/download/kannel-arch-snapshot/arch.html

Maybe you don't need an SMPP server, but a client (that's what
Kannel is) and an SMPP connection to a carrier.

Best regards.

Rodrigo.

Dear Abhishek,
Please read the user guide completely, kannel use
http to easier it's user to send sms. And inside the kannel, there is engine to
interface between http to smpp, and not only smpp is supported by kannel

Re: SMPP server to receive SMS requests via SMPP and send SMS

2006-04-18 Thread Rodrigo Cremaschi
Hi there,

Maybe if you explain what kind of services will you provide, it
will be easier to give you some advice. If you really need to talk
_only_ SMPP, you may try PHP - SMPP class. But (again, depending on
what you try to do) it may be worth the effort of trying Kannel.

I will not describe Kannel architecture here, but Kannel talks
HTTP with your application (what makes life a lot easier) and several
protocols (including SMPP) with the carriers.

Best regards,

Rodrigo.

Kannel does not provide SMPP Server by itself
There's the smppbox that Stipe provides (commercial) to do so, and
there's another implementation by someone else

but Kannel alone does not provide SMPP Serer capabilities

Re: SMPP server to receive SMS requests via SMPP and send SMS

2007-04-20 Thread Alejandro Guerrieri

Yep, Kannel is an SMPP _client_.

It's somewhat confusing because once connected, you can receive and
send messages, but it's a _client_. It can only connect to a running
SMPP server, cannot provide incoming SMPP connections.

If you're looking for a server, I've tried the smppbox and it's a
really good and integrated approach.

Regards,

Alejandro.

that's correct.

At this time, Kannel does the full abstraction of the SMSC client side of
gatewaying archtecture. On the server side it abstracts towards HTTP.

My Kannel SMPP server (smppbox) is an add-on component that is capable to act as
SMPP v3.4 and EMI/UCP 4.0 server, hence leaveraging own SMPP accounts to the
bearerbox SMSC connections.
