Hi Jason,

Thanks a lot for your inspiring presentation at JavaOne and for the quick reply
to my inquiry :)

It will be released under the ASL 2.0 license and will be available
the week after next.

That's great timing. Exactly beginning of next week we are planning to start
our transition from a huge ant build to maven 2 (similar dimension of what you
presenten), so the help of some tooling is really appreciated. Also I'm trying
to push the incremental approach that you proposed (first manage dependencies
with maven in ant, then switch to maven completely), hopefully my voice will
get heard.

How does Metamorphosis come into play in that szenario? Is it picking up from
the step where the dependencies are already managed with maven, but the build
is still running with ant?

Another thing that you mentioned was that it could reorganize (mavenize :) the
directory structure. How well does that play along with subversion as a scm
tool. Will the history of the files be kept?

Be
patient, myself and Andy along with Contegix are working as fast as
we can to make it all publicly available.

Thanks again for all the work that you're doing :)

It will be released under the ASL 2.0 license and will be available
the week after next. I used it extensively for a client and most of
the work was done on paid time so I removed it from Apache as I don't
want to muddy the waters. It will be available in the Sonatype Labs
when we open it to the public, everything is ASL 2.0. We're just
working with Contegix to setup the infrastructure which shouldn't
take very long.

There's lots of use bits in the labs, but one thing I know people
have been asking for is the SVNKit provider for Maven SCM. It was
also sponsored work by a client and the licensing prevents us from
putting it at Apache. We'll have a repository, sync to central, the
issue tracking system and everything else setup late next week. Be
patient, myself and Andy along with Contegix are working as fast as
we can to make it all publicly available.

The maven one conversion tools could easily be plugged in as there
are interfaces for:

- dependency extraction
- structure manipulation
- utility convertsion (m1 plugins/tasks/anything to m2)
- variants (multiple artifacts)

You grab all this crap and funnel it into a set of projects (can be a
set of 1) and then it gets written out along with any repositories
you need.

It only took me 80% of the way and the rest I had to do by hand but
it still saved me a lot of time. I also had very specific
requirements and I've really only ever used it on websphere projects
and this big Ant build. Never used it for a Maven 1 build but someone
can extend it.

Thanks,

Jason
