Trinidad / ADF: How do I set a property in a bean when commandLink is pressed?
Hi, I'm trying out Trinidad / ADF Faces rewriting a small app previously done with tomahawk. Is there an equivalent of t:updateActionListener? I have a table where each row is produced as a link, when a user clicks the link they are redirected to another page which holds more comprehensive details related to that row. How with ADF do I set a property in a backing bean when a link is pressed? In tomahawk this is simple as t:updateActionListener has value and property attributes... thanks, Marcus. _ It's Hotmail's 10th Birthday! Come and play Pass the Parcel http://www.msnpasstheparcel.com
RE: AW: Trinidad / ADF: How do I set a property in a bean when commandLink is pr
Fair enough, Unfortunately, I am using the oracle implementation of ADF faces not the trinidad incubation version... I guess I will have to set myself up some beans with action listeners and get to the required parameters the old fashioned way :o) This leads me to another question regarding the current stability of the project in incubation.. but I will post this as a seperate topic. thanks, Marcus. This can easily be done using the tr:setActionListener Tag in Trinidad (see http://incubator.apache.org/adffaces/trinidad-api/tagdoc/tr_setActionListener.html for details). Migration from ADF to Trinidad and current stability
Currently I'm using the oracle version of ADF but would like to know if there are any serious issues to be aware of if I were to migrate to Trinidad. Ideally it would be perfect if it were possible to simply switch the ADF jars for Trinidad ones, - is this likely to be possible? Have all inherited (from Oracle) tags maintained the same functionality (or at least have they only been extended rather than having some functionality removed)? Is the incubation version of Trinidad stable for project use or is it worth waiting until it becomes a fully fledged library with all the creases ironed out? Any opinions on the above most welcome, Marcus. _ Find Singles In Your Area Now With Match.com! msnuk.match.com
Re: AW: Trinidad / ADF: How do I set a property in a bean when commandLink is pr
Ok fair enough, I wasn't sure if it was more to do with integrating the tag libraries so they can be intermixed etc. I'll hunt out the trinidad list, didnt realise there was a specific one for it. Thanks Marcus. PS. I posted the other question before getting chance to read this, so it's not that I'm being lazy :o) From: Matthias Wessendorf [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: MyFaces Discussion users@myfaces.apache.org To: MyFaces Discussion users@myfaces.apache.org Subject: Re: AW: Trinidad / ADF: How do I set a property in a bean when commandLink is pr Date: Tue, 5 Dec 2006 18:09:06 +0100 This leads me to another question regarding the current stability of the project in incubation.. but I will post this as a seperate topic. would be cool if users here use the Trinidad list for questions like that. Trinidad is sorta stable. It is used in projects. Incubation is not reflecting a project with unstable code; it is reflecting a community almost new to Apache and it's learning process of the Apache/Open Source rules Thanks, Matthias thanks, Marcus. RE: Tomahawk Extended datatable problem, running on Tomcat 4.1
Your dataTable needs a value attribute which calls a method in a backing bean that returns one of the supported collections holding 'rows' of data (in this case a list of ObjectWithData instances). The dataTable will iterate over all items in the list and reference the current row with the var attribute (in this case the var is called eachRow).. You then specify which of the parameters from the object referenced by 'eachRow' you wish to display in each column of the table. t:dataTable id=myTable value=#{myBean.listOfObjectsWithData} var=eachRow headerClass=jsfTableHeading rowClasses=jsfTableRow1, jsfTableRow2 h:column h:outputText value=#{eachRow.firstParam} / h:outputText value= / h:outputText value=#{eachRow.secondParam} / /h:column h:column h:outputText value=#{{eachRow.thirdParam} / /h:column h:column h:outputText value=#{{eachRow.fourthParam} / /h:column /t:dataTable Your backing bean (as I'm using a list here) would have the following method: public ListObjectWithData getListOfObjectsWithData() { ListObjectWithData aList; // Populate list from underlying data source etc... return aList; } The item referenced by the var attribute value (eachRow) in the h:dataTable tag will then iterate over the List of objects, for instance: public class ObjectWithData { private String firstParam; private String secondParam; private String thirdParam; private String fourthParam; // Getters and setters... } So basically you need to provide the dataTable tag with a method that returns a supported collection of some type. Hope this helps, Marcus From: Tran, Paul [EMAIL PROTECTED] Reply-To: MyFaces Discussion users@myfaces.apache.org To: users@myfaces.apache.org Subject: Tomahawk Extended datatable problem, running on Tomcat 4.1 Date: Thu, 23 Nov 2006 16:55:08 -0500 Hi, I am currently trying to use some of your components and I have success with most of them, except for the extended datatable.
