Re: Issue registering to netbeans.org

2018-08-10 Thread Jiří Kovalský
I have just resolved this and sent their shiny & new temporary
credentials a few seconds ago.

As for the Plugin Portal, it can be still a question of weeks I assume.
I believe Apache NetBeans IDE 9.1 will already have the Plugin Portal
hosted on the Apache infrastructure.

The problem is that I don’t receive a verification mail.

Thank you.

I guess I need to poke around in Jenkins. I am wondering (without yet
having looked) if this is already being built and not posted anywhere.

Not sure! The old macOS installer and bundles work quite differently
from what I know. A bundle is just a specially constructed folder
that can be launched from anywhere. I like them, but then I grew up
using RiscOS, from where Apple nicked the idea along with the dock!

You haven't missed anything, at least definitely not obvious. There
is an ant task in the RCP scripts for building a bundle. I'd always
assumed it was in the main NetBeans build scripts too, but I couldn't
find it.

Re: Issue with Netbeans when creating a Maven Web Application

2018-08-10 Thread John McDonnell
Hi Kris,

First and foremost... Its great to see another Irish NetBeans user on
the mailing lists :)

Secondly, I use 8.2 while at work and created a new Maven Web project with
no issues. Is this something you can fire up on GitHub (or any
alternative), and we can have a closer look at what the issue is?

I suspect it's not IDE related, and might more so be an issue with the
maven configuration, but am willing to take a look if needed.

Regards

John

That's odd! Never had a problem with the import settings dialog not
showing on any of the dev, rc, or released builds.

A .deb specifically? They're really easy to make out of the zip
bundle (rather than in the "official" way). Wrote an old blog post on
this - https://praxisintermedia.wordpress.com/2013/03/28/packaging-as-a-deb/
 That might be an option?

There is work ongoing around a Snap package though, and possibly that,
and/or Flatpak, and/or AppImage are a better way forward? It wouldn't
be Linux if there was only one option to choose from! ;-) Personally
think an AppImage might be good.

Actually a macOS installer? The things I've seen have been app
bundles, which seem perhaps an easier way forward (there's already
support in the RCP build scripts) and more in line with the Snap-like
Linux approach? Although we could possibly do with better error
reporting if the JDK can't be found in that case.

Which just leaves Windows ...

Best wishes,

Neil

Issue with Netbeans when creating a Maven Web Application

2018-08-10 Thread Kris McGlinn

Hi There,

Not sure if this is the correct mailing list, but I wanted to report a
problem when creating a new Maven Web Application on Netbeans 8.2.

I create the project, and I can get it to successfully build (although
the initial build fails in what seems to be related to another closed
maven project 'r2rml' with the follwing error - Failed to execute goal
org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-archetype-plugin:3.0.1:generate
(default-cli) on project r2rml:
org.apache.maven.archetype.exception.InvalidPackaging: Unable to add
module to the current project as it is not of packaging type 'pom' ->
[Help 1]).

I building again, and it builds, but I can only see a project and
dependencies folder. No web folder, no source folder.

Looking at a video tutorial, I should be seeing both of these. I tried
creating another normal Java Web Application project, and copying and
pasting the src and web folders from this, but these refuse to show up
in the IDE.

What am I doing wrong?

Kind regards,

Kris.

Re: Netbeans 9.0 freezes in Macos 10.6.3, java 10.0.2

2018-08-10 Thread Juan Escribano
After discover where the problem come I did a fresh install, so logs are gone.

But I have remembered that I had the same problem in Netbeans 8.2 with lastest
Java 1.8 version, and I had to go to a previous version of Java 1.8 to solve
it, so, I quite sure that the import settings function works fine and the
problem is located at something stored in my settings.
