[INFO] Live Mail mit OpenOffice nutzen (was: Open office 4.1.1)

2014-11-16 Thread Jörg Schmidt
Hallo,

Ich habe eine Extension erstellt die die genannten Probleme umgeht und die
Nutzung von Windows Live Mail mit OpenOffice ermöglicht, siehe:
http://de.openoffice.info/viewtopic.php?f=24p=250211#p250211

Die Extension ist im Moment nur zum Testen gedacht, der produktive Einsatz wird
nicht empfohlen.

Activation codes

2014-11-16 Thread Rosemarie Brisciana
Hello,

As a great user in France of all the Open Office products, I am experiencing
problems with the update, and am currently using the 4.1.0 edition. Every time
I click to open or create a document, I'm invited to update to 4.1.1.

When I try to do so and am connected to an official page, I'm invited to spend
4.5 euros for a first activiation code, then another 4.5 euros for a second
one.  The numbers to which I had to send a texto and the codes received were 1)
83020 for code MQYQYJ and 2) 81221 for code MUARQJ. Both of these numbers also
invited me to pay for a game (I did not). The telephone number provided for
assistance on the first code is 0821610753 (France). The email provided for
assistance with the second code was c...@smsinf.net.

If this is open source and free, why does the Open Office icon connect me to
Source Forge which appears to be an official OPen Office page, requiring
payment of a total of 9 euros ?

Is Apache aware of the problem? I should be automatically connected to an
official page, not to Source Forge, unless it's also an official Apache site.

I will add that after all these manipulations - and COSTS-, I still am at the
4.1.0 edition whereas I followed the procedure a third time and was told that
the update had been downloaded successfully.

What is happening with Open Office and why did I have to spend money for 2
useless activation codes ?

Thanks for a quick answer. In addition, I'm willing to help improve Open Office
products - but at no cost !

If you download through
www.openoffice/org/download
You will be automatically redirected to SourceForge servers, on whose
world-wide network of servers the OpenOffice files are stored. Your download
should then start automaticaly in five seconds, without need to click on any
other links.

A genuine OpenOffice does not - repeat, NOT! - ask for any payment or require
any activation code. If this is happening, your computer's integrity has been
compromised, perhaps by an earlier download from an unofficial source or by
some form of Trojan or browser hijacker.

If you are unable to obtain an uncontaminated version of OpenOffice from the
above source, please run an indepth antivirus and malware check. For Malware
detection, MalwareBytes is well regarded (Google for it). Then come back to
this list with details of your operating system (windows, Mac ... etc) and the
language version you require and we'll give you a direct download link.

What is environment variable to set openoffice user config file in $HOME/.openoffice/4?

2014-11-16 Thread jupiter
Hi,

I am running openoffice in a CentOS 6, it tried to create a
configuration directory .openoffice/4 under the binary source
directory and got permission issues as I cannot access
/usr/lib64/openoffice.org4/program/.openoffice/4.

It should be in $HOME/.openoffice/4, how can I set the environment
value to let the program create the configuration directory under the
user home directory?

Thank you.

the same problem with modified versions exists with other popular

tell your friends: be aware of this unofficial crap webpages and look

Either start OpenOffice and use /Tools /Extensions Add and point the
navigation box to the file, or simply double click on the file at system level

We simply take it very seriously. You can find updates from October at
https://blogs.apache.org/infra/entry/code_signing_service_now_available
and you can expect concrete news after next week's ApacheCon.

The current OpenOffice 4.1.1 will probably be the last version where the

Is this with the official version or with the version you built? With

I Thinks its a good idea to tell your friends about THIS story and warn

the same problem occures with other popular OSS like VLC Player.

My advise: Tell and warn your friends about the unofficial sites which
build maleware in the programms so that they learn to just download from
offical sites! It also helps to teach the people surfing focused in the

However, in one of these “shutdowns”, I lost all info on 2 spreadsheets that I

Now when I open these spreadsheets, a get a Grey Box stating :

Text ….The name of my file

And so on

When I click OK ...the Spreadsheet opens, but is TOTALLY blank.

Question: How do/can I recover this information.

If you should have to do this more than once, you will buy appyyocr,
I'm afraid it only works in Windows, but I'd like to find out I'm wrong.
It is very difficult to edit the result of a converter that is only
80% correct. Letters run together--frequently--producing other letters
and signs. l becomes 1 , lower case letters become upper, or
sometimes numbers--o 0--it's a mess. I did this on a 4 page
file about 6 months ago, and I will order abbyyocr if I ever have to
do it again!
One of the editing problems is just finding the error. Sometimes it
is not obvious, but it's wrong! You really need to put on your
schoolteacher's glasses and become Miss Grundy.
You have been warned!

A quick search found this on-line OCR site.
http://www.onlineocr.net/
I've never used it, so can't say how accurate it is. I use linux as my
operating system; for it there are several PDF (or other graphic format) OCR

As another poster to this thread pointed out, one must do careful proof

of a small number of pages it may be quicker to retype rather than try to learn
how to install, drive and proof output from an OCRprogram.

It is a long time (7-9 years) since I used a version of OmniPage, but my memory
