Basic Calc/Spreadsheet Questions

Is there a written Tutorial for making charts in AOO 4.1.2? I haven't found
much.

I want to make a pie chart.

I have a list of country names and numbers:
390 CA
337 GB
286 NL
234 DE
 51KR
 46RU
 44EG

Calc appears to handle the CA GB NL as second column of data, but doesn't
know how to assign them values.

I would like the chart to have a key that shows the colors of the segment
and has the Country Code beside it:

[purple] CA
[green] GB
[yellow] NL

Is there a way to rotate the pie, so that I can pick which segments are in
front? Can the colors be changed?

How do I get a title to appear in the Chart? One time it worked. The next
time each word in the title ended up with a color marker by it, like a key;
but I couldn't make it do that again.

Separately:
I've had problems keeping titles at the tops of spreadsheets. When
reopened, they often end up below the table.

An was kann dies liegen ? Es gibt auch keine Briefe in der Menüleiste,

You need to swap the order of your columns: to have the labels to the

Reorder your data. The segments appear to be presented starting at 
the top and working anticlockwise.

Really?

You can create titles by entering them into suitable spreadsheet

Format | Page... | Header | Edit... and similarly for a footer. I 
don't see why any of these should move around.

I don't do spreadsheets at other than a trivial level, but I can tell you that 
one can freeze the first rows/columns by positioning the cursor in the first 
row/column one does not wish to freeze and selecting /Window /Freeze.

nach beliebigen Zeichenketten suchen kannst.

Ein kostenloses Programm, was das kann, ist DocFetcher:

Sinnvoll ist, es als portable Version zu verwenden.

Das hängt von verschiedenen Faktoren ab.(hat aber mit Open Office eher
wenig zu tun).

1) Wenn Du die Datei erst kürzlich geöffnet hattest, dann hilft u. U.
ein Blick in die History aka die "zuletzt geöffneten Dateien" des
betreffenden Programmes.

2) Wenn Du die Dateiendung kennst, und Dich beim Anblick des Dateinamens
evtl. wieder-erinnern könntest, dann such einfach nach der Endung (z. B.
"*.doc" (ohne die Hochkomma)).

3) Je nach der von Dir verwendeten Windowsversion (lässt scih leider
nicht aus Deinen Headern heraus lesen) hast Du im Datei Explorer (sprich
den 'normalen' Dateiverzeichnis-Fenster) rechts oben ein Feld, das mit
dem Text "XYZ durchsuchen" o. ä. hinterlegt ist; da kannst Du einen der
Suchbegriffe eingeben.

Diese Suche geht auch in die Tiefe, sprich in Unterverzeichnisse (aber
natürlich nur vom aktuellen Verzeichnis aus), jedoch das dauert dann
natürlich u. U. ziemlich lange. Es ist also sinnvoll, den Speicherort
möglichst sinnvoll ein zu grenzen (aber auch nicht /zu/ eng, sonst ist
es womöglich doch im Nachbarverzeichnis ... :-/).

True if it's strictly an algorithmic process.  

Not necessarily true if you introduce variability from external sources [ping 
or response time on the network, or stock market fluctuations for example].  
Pseudo random implies repeatability.

In a prior life I came up with a scheme for a pseudorandom generator that used 
computer hardware measured values determined at power on to generate a 
non-repeatable seed.

I think we are converging on violent agreement!

no phone service.

Most questions get quick response from fellow users.
So when you have a question or problem send it to us.
Make sure you give enough information e.g. version of OpenOffice

sollte die Datei mit einer Word Version 2007 oder neuer erstellt worden
sein, also als *.docx abgespeichert kann Dir das Tool Loook
http://mechtilde.de/Loook weiterhelfen.

Mit diesem Tool kann man nach Text in *.docx, xlsX, pptx, odt, ods, odp
Dateien suchen.

ich suche nach einer Möglichkeit Fotos (JPG) in einem Rahmen in Calc 
einzufügen. Dazu müssen die Fotos aber automatisch minimiert werden.
Bisher habe ich nur die manuelle Methode angewandt. Gibt es dafür einen 
Automatismus oder AdOn?
