Russ;

Actually we have seen the profile problem be responsible for both
phenomenon which is why we recommend the profile reset as one of the
first things to eliminate in a spellcheck problem inquiry.

This is almost always a sign of corruption in the user profile and is
corrected by a reset of the profile. For the location of your user
profile and instructions to reset it see the following How To:

Actually the profile problem causes the spellchecker to find everything
is misspelled. When the spellchecker finds nothing misspelled, even
complete gibberish, check that Tools > Options > Language Settings >
Languages has your language selected for 'Default languages for
documents'. If that's not the problem try looking at these:

This is almost always a sign of corruption in the user profile and is
corrected by a reset of the profile. For the location of your user

Re: Spell Check in Open Office

2017-01-25 Thread Hagar Delest

Try to reset your profile as described here:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74=12426#p58403
It should take care of the spell check.

I have recently updated my open office this morning to version 4.1.3. Now the
program will operate the spell check. It is missing words that are misspelled
and detecting nothing wrong. I often use spell check because my spelling is not
very good. Is there any fix for this?

If you need a disc, contact a friend in a city, by post mail. Because you
will need another.

Try this tutorial from the Forum

Normally, spellcheck problems are solved by simply deleting or renaming
 your OpenOffice User Profile.
Details on this are given in
 https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74t=12426
